Video is currently rendering and uploading to YT... writing a small guide now.

I read that tonight is a minor update as there were issues with the netcode, let's hope they can iron it out.

Cool.

I'm sure Wally knows a lot more than me but I'm just going to go over the basics, if there's any errors, I'm sure he can point them out, please do so mate :)

I'm making a screencapture video of the steps to setup the server and will upload to youtube along with some written instructions.

I'm just going to go over creating an AWS account, creating the free tier EC2 instance, getting started with remote desktop, installing the AC server, python and freejoin. Configuring the AC server and Freejoin won't be covered in detail, I'll just fire the server up to see expected output.

It's best to have a read of the AC forums and maybe start a dedicated server game hosting thread on here for people to share configs and maybe config files...

Well, an update on this. Seems to be running very well on the t2 micro instance with 2003 server. Not sure how it would handle many connections, but freejoin isn't complaining or using too much cpu or mem. If I'm doing something on the server, such as installing updates etc.. it will cause cpu errors but apart from that all good.

I expect for a small grid of <10 it would run OK...

I can post a quick guide tonight for anyone that's interested in hosting their own servers at amazon. I think there was Marty? interested in giving it a go and asking for a quick tutorial?

There's still a very bad 'black hole' on the left side of the track just before the AVON tyres sign. Kept falling into it last night lol

I looked up the benchmarked Amazon bandwidth of the Tuesday night server. 618 megabits/sec. That's lots.

WOW,  How much data did it chew through?

If they can get CPU usage down that's the major killer at the moment. More bandwidth shouldn't be a problem for most servers, you can always upgrade the port speed but then you might chew through your quota quicker....

Does the windows AC server work OK on a t1.micro free instance? I tried setting one up but yeh, ping was around 200 compared to the normal 20-40, am I doing something wrong? With freejoin I kept getting cpu errors.

I've got a powerful linux VPS but the linux server uses too much CPU, with freejoin it's even worse and makes the server crash after a random amount of time.

Love love love this track on LFS.. great to see it ported to AC! The 0.94 version had some weird bugs..., hopefully fixed in this update.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :) I will be going as insomniac so there's no confusion with all the Daves lol

Was some great racing last night and I'll have to get a mic for teamspeak next time.

Hi! I'm Dave, 31 years old, married with a 2.5 year old, in Melbourne.

My time with racing sims started with LFS in about 2003. Played the demo for a very long time with only a mouse but never got fully into it. Finally got around to buying an S2 licence and wheel and loves every second of it. Played in EU leagues at 4am in the mornings and then found the AAL and MNR. Always seemed to get sick of no content and come back to play it after a while.

I tried to like rfactor but couldn't and finally got around to getting a free iracing membership this year, too bad about having to pay for all the damn content. :(

This brought me to AC, affordable and a great game overall!

Cya trackside :)
