Season 11 features 20 minute, reverse grid sprint races in the Toyota GT86.
Season Schedule
Round 1: Apr 5, Barbagallo, 3 x 16 laps [DOWNLOAD (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n2ci6515kouf178/barbagallo1.2.zip?dl=0)]
Round 2: Apr 12, Magione, 3 x 13 laps
Apr 19 - bye -
Round 3: Apr 26, Zandvoort, 3 x 10 laps
Round 4: May 3, Modena (Fast), 3 x 18 laps [DOWNLOAD (http://www.mediafire.com/download/nujjrhb4h2b9mjb/Modena_32pits_addon.rar)]
Round 5: May 10, Nurburgring Sprint (GT), 3 x 11 laps
Round 6: May 17, Vallelunga Classic, 3 x 13 laps
Race 1 prac/qual starts at 8:30pm Eastern time, and there is usually a long practice session before that, starting from around about 6:00pm.
Round Format
Each race is a full reverse grid race with no qualifying sessions (only round 1, race 1, has a qualifying session to set start order). Race 1 of a round is in reverse order of championship points standings, and races 2 and 3 are in reverse order of the previous race finish.
Fuel and tyres are 1x and there are no compulsory pit stops.
Points
Points are 24, 23, 22 down to 1.
Fastest lap in each race gets 1 point bonus.
Penalties
Every major infringement (e.g. avoidable rear hits, unsafe track re-entry causing accidents etc), will be awarded 150kg of penalty ballast for the 1st race only of the next round (150 kg is approximately 10 seconds over the whole race, but the time lost will vary from track to track).
Every minor infringement (e.g. not leaving racing room and squeezing someone off the track) will be awarded 75 kg.
Penalty ballast is cumulative - i.e. you might end up with more than 150 kg ballast for multiple infringements.
Weather
Weather will be taken from the Adelaide forecast (http://www.myweather2.com/Motor-Racing/Australia/Adelaide-Parklands-Street-Circuit.aspx) on each actual race day. Races are at 9:30am, 12:30pm and 3:30pm.
Track grip will simulate rainy conditions, according to the Adelaide forecast:
Damp track - 85% grip
Wet track - 75% grip
Very wet track - 65% grip

Is it ever dry in Adelaide. ;D
Sign me up Wally, the ballast penaltues seem a bit harsh and there may be a few guys towing caravans around. If that doesnt help guys to try and avoid contact nothing will as even a few kilo's would likely cost a bit of time in these low powered cars.
-
I'm keen to get back into racing if there's a spare spot left. Got my cockpit made now so won't have to keep pulling the camp chair back into the desk any more.
-
yes please Wally! 8)
I do like the concept of ballast here
-
Yes please Wally
-
Yes thank you please.
Good call on the Adelaide weather. I do hope we get a wet track though for some fun.
-
Yes!!!! Very much looking forward to it!

Count me in please Wally!

Believe it or not, it rarely rains in Adelaide.
I've done the testing on the ballast. It's roughly equivalent to a 10 second penalty like you'd get for repeated cutting.
-
Yes please
-
Also if we have a wet track you should use slower grip build up. You could even experiment with negative track build up to simulate a track getting wetter. Just cant go silly with the multiplier or you will also need a red flag at some point.

Yep, that's how I've done it before. The negative grip change might be interesting, if say it's clear in the morning and bucketing down in the afternoon.

Hi all
Apologises if I've missed it, but what are the timings for this league? And are there punishments for absents? I may only be able to make it fortnightly.

Races are Tuesday nites usually starting at 8:30 for 1st qualy AEST, punishments may include Stan coming over and sacrificing your goat if you have one or Guybrush coming over and giving you a light spanking if you dont. :)
-
What Marty's trying to say... :)
There's no punishments for not turning up, but it depends on numbers on the grid, so long as you're not using up a regular member's spot. But with tracks with larger grids available now, it shouldn't be an issue.
Would you still like to sign up?
-

or you get a proper spanking like the rest of us on Tuesday race night :P

That shows your bound to lose either way and he wins no matter what.

Yes, sure.

Thinking about the cumulative penalty ballast, I reckon I'll make it the worst of the 3 races I.e. not accumulate over the whole round. So if you get penalty ballast in the 3 races of 150, 75 and 225, you'll get 225 kg for the first race of the next round.

I think maybe make it a bit smaller ballast but still count each offense, its not really a handicap ballast but a penalty for poor driving. I think making it just the worst of 3 may have some people think, well I had a shocker race 1 so I can have a little bit less of a shocker in race 2 and get away with it.
I dont think people should be getting too much penalty ballast anyway but if they have trouble in traffic it should be an incentive to try a bit more to avoid contact next time.
Also having contact causes damage so will effect you that race so best to avoid it as much as possible.
-
good point, Marty, I agree.
-
I notice my name's not on the list Wally, is there still room ? ???

This season is going to be mega! Close racing galore.
The only way it could be better is if Gentrack was in the schedule (yeah, still my favourite mod track!).

I'd like to sign up if there's still a possibility. Do you need my steam id or something? I can provide it later today when I get home if needed.

Hello guys!!
As you know i am very much in love with all of you, specially with Bird :o :o :o but i will give this season a miss i am still very busy with my crop and stuff and my motivation is very low(and the 3 starts formula don`t help ;D ;D).
At the same time i put my name down for the Australian Formula Renault 2.0 Championship with Iracing which i like it.
I hope you wont miss me much and i am very happy to see the entry list completely full.I will try to post some racing action on the iracing section......... :-*
See you soon guys......love love love love :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Simone
-
good luck simone, sounds interesting , might have a spin and see what the Formula Renault 2.0 is like
-
No worries Simone. Thanks for letting us know.
-
Haha love you too Simone, and your posts, you make me smile.
-
Meh I wish.. baby still pretty unsettled in the evenings. He'll be 6 months in a couple of weeks and will get onto solids so hopefully that'll help with him sleeping through.
I took a look at my wheel the other night and it's collected a lot of dust :(
-
Haha love you too Simone, and your posts, you make me smile.
Never stop smiling Bruce.
-
Really sorry guys think I'm going to have to withdraw from this one, there was some reshuffling in the other leagues I've been competing in and they are now both occurring this week, so I think I might be a bit over simmed, I'll have to keep a look out for the next one. Apologises for the hassle.
-
bummer this epic league lost out... the other one must be truly amazing :P

Hi Guys,
I signed up to your group a year or so ago now. I was put on your reserve list but I never got a chance to get into AC properly until recently and haven't had the opportunity to race with you all yet. I now have more spare time for racing. If there is any spots available I would be keen as. :)
Cheers

Hi Lan. Welcome back. Yes, I'll add you to the grid. I think I've still got your GUID.
Because it's a fixed starting order grid, since you're a new starter, you'll be at the back of the grid in race 1, but after that, reversed from wherever you finish up. I will send you a PM tonight - look out for it.
-
I'm going to be away with work again the next two Tuesdays. Luckily one of them is a bye. In fact I've packed up my sim stuff till then so you won't see me in game, just in case someone thinks I've disappeared :)

Edit: just spotted your post PHil. ::)
