Everyone please feel free to use the Brabham, it is the quickest by quite a margin. So after some practice please nominate a restrictor and/or some ballast to bring it and yourself roughly into line with the other car/driver combinations. You can do this per event as an Admin can apply these changes to the server in realtime.

So similar to what Phil and Bacchulum et al do, by skipping qualifying, and self handicap for the 'funs' rather than for the 'wins'.

It's good, very good.  Easy to drive right up to the point where it kills you.  Now who said anything about track safety?
Title: Re: Season 22 F1 '66 Sampler
Post by: Bacchulum on August 01, 2020, 02:17:57 PM
As a proud Aussie I feel I have to take the Brabham, especially given Ron's recent passing. :'(
73kg & 37% give 1m25.8s ;)
Might have to leave one carton of beer behind, but we'll start there.
Can that be put on the server for me? ???

[EDIT]
And can my current BT20 time be deleted?

Nominate a skin too and I think I can reserve your very own Brabham.

;) and I see what you did there  ;)

Looks like I can't specify one car without specifying one for each and every driver.
Do you have/need the Admin password to give yourself your handicap and also practice online?

Yeah, I'll leave that carton behind, please make it 53kg.
Just give it to me on the night. ;)

Wally knows how to do it, he did for the Lotus.
As long as it's there on the night.

:) Does seem to work after all. Doesn't lock me to a car but when I pick the type of car with my ID assigned I get the appropriate skin/ballast/restrictor.

I can do the points or give seanus or someone the admin password and username for the ptracker webpage, I dont mind doing them, but it might be a few days after the race   :P

I really dont mind, its actually nice not to think about what to race next and just turn up hopefully in next few weeks,
Seanus can keep doing the thinking as long as he likes  ;D ;D

Practice 7.30

Qualifying 8.30

Race 1
8.45 - 20 minutes
5 minute or so break

Race 2
9.10 ish
20 minutes (reverse grid rolling start)

Could we reduce practice to 40 mins and qually to 10 mins to stat race 1 at 8.20 pm, to give some of us a better chance to be wide awake for race 2 ;D

@ seanus
as you have the ptracker details you can fill in the championship points if you like Seanus ?

any questions send me a message

Yes I can do that Phil.

I can change session times at anytime so I'll need everyone to work out the earliest common time that every member can start.

How early is too early?

Hats off to you guys for putting this together.  I've had a bit of a crack at the Mclaren and the Eagle.....both different cars but a lot of fun to drive, the Mclaren can be a bit of a handful.  Love the sound of the Eagle.  Looking forward to it.  How many acres is the Alpaca farm?  Can anyone change my name on Stracker or will I be Miss Daisy for life?

Ha!  I'm 100% sure that those times will be blown away by a second or two when Seanus, Bach, Mael and Anon get serious.  And I'm 200% sure that I can't maintain times like that for 20 mins. I'll be happy with a top ten finish.

Keep in mind these cars are not BOPped.
The Brabham would win nearly everywhere, hence the mandatory-voluntary restrictions on this. And somewhere like Spa would see the McLaren run off into the distance.
We are all Journeymen racers in this championship so can drive any car at anytime.

This is the start of a season, and although only playing for an Alpaca Farm is taken more seriously than the fun runs. If you want to race you will also need to be on our Discord channel for any race instructions.

Discord just makes it more fun, you need other drivers to hear the sledging or it is pointless  ;D  Less important is to organize the reverse grid race two. But the more drivers join the better.

Hello lads,

All new drivers welcome.

Changed to 15 laps, (equivalent to 20 mins)

Server restart at 7:30
50 min practice
10 min qualify

Race one start at 8:30

Remember your finishing position
Race two starts after a small comfort break.
Reverse rolling start, using the first slow lap to shuffle into reverse order from the first race.
No set starting point but when ready someone will call Green green green or some such thing, and racing starts straight away, no silly waiting for the start line or anything.
NO blue flags
Cautions, though very rare, can be called by consensus over discord, with the same restart procedure as above.

I also cannot join server, and using CM "check what is missing" I ended up going around in circles with my CM  track install app getting corrupted and it would not install any tracks. I had to verify my AC local files to correct the problem.
 I know this track works

Had a horrible night last night, had 10x more crash laps than non-crash laps. Think my head just wasn't in the right place. The fact that the track had very little run-off areas and made excursions more dangerous didn't help. Hopefully next week will have more run-off areas. Still enjoy these cars, not like they are hard to drive, just had a very bad night, hopefully next week will be better.
I would also like to apologize to those who I cleaned up with my prangs, especially Mael, who I took out while he was leading.

Echo statements, was a great nights racing and really good to see a bunch of new (returning) people.

Tough track to pass on but great place to have several "clench" moments per lap!

I was a bit lucky in race 1, shame for Scotty_Racer to run out of fuel and Cooper who had an off with 1.5 laps to go. Was not going to get past them on track. Anyway, a win is a win - even if Joe wasn't there  8)

Race 2 was fun, I was a big winner from the major wreck on lap 1.  The yellow flag worked well to at least bring the field back into a group.

Not your fault GW, I saw your accident and noticed the yellow flag but it was potentially going to be a sub 1:22 lap so I chose the eyes close, hope and pray method. Did not work!

Really enjoyed the cars although the racing probably was not that easy. I commend anyone who made a genuine pass, T1 was probably possible as a overtaking place but anywhere else would have been a huge risk!

Don't worry too much it is a very tough combo to drive and very unforgiving for the slightest mistake , from memory of my GPL days this track is probably the most challenging to get it right consistently .   I'm sure if it was the last race of the season and being used to the cars more you would of been quite a bit better at it.
Very tough, but wow so much fun for the first race of the season.
