We might be able to pair this with the alfa romeo GTA for a season

I don't know what cars are on the server, but what about that old Porsche (Spyder?) race car. That's good fun.

Ah nice. I posted about this one a while back when it was still in development. The guy did say he'd look into doing an S2000 which I'd like to see an an ex S2000 owner.

Could we please evaluate this mod from http://www.drivingitalia.net/index.html it is called AC Legends Pack 8 cars 1.10.2 sound fix.
The 69 Corvette sounds and physics are just brilliant. The sound on Shelby Daytona Coupe has some problems but the rest of the cars are good. I used Zolder 67 as my test track but any flowing track would do. This mod has had 4500 downloads in 20 days, can't be too bad.
I think you will find this a nice xmas present Bruce. They also have other mods available including a Trans AM group of cars which I also like.

Legends Pack are all rips and are running Version 6 of the tyre model. They also feel pretty same same from car to car to me.

Didn't all cars feel the same back then?  ;)

Keep the positive feedback coming. A rip is OK if it is not dodgy, right.

Here's the car ranking I produce from the RSR laps (counted over 13,000 laps automatically, from http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/car-time-ranking.22389 ).

PP3 cars have asterisks next to them.

Of the cars we drove on Thursday, some close combos by lap time would seem to be:
917 K is kind of by itself amongst its contemporaries (although it's close in lap time to the Lamborghini Aventador SV).

Title: Re: Thursday league Next season Ideas and Testing
Post by: rooshooter on December 23, 2016, 03:29:04 PM
Thanks Wally , I had already come up with the Yellowbird and F40 to go with 908 and GT40, confirms my decisions. I think we will need to test on server though, the F40 requires some practice. GT40 RSR seems a bit off.
I was looking for something to go with the Lotus 2eleven , I had fun trying to keep up with Bacchulum  driving a Cobra and me a 2eleven adding a Porsche 911 R could be a good choice for handicapping without ballast.
Porsche 718 RS60 and Maserati 250 might be close in ranking but I know which one I would choose to drive, I will keep looking for an alternative.
A list of tracks for 908/GT40 etc could be:
60's Hockenheim (only recently released) perfect for the era of these cars.
Monza 66
Silverstone 67
Zolder 67 ( which you are not a fan of)

List of tracks for the other cars I have not started to work on.

Please comment on the above.

Longford could be a good one for those too.

A couple of mates and I are currently running a championship on Wednesday nights with the '67 F1 cars mod. We're running the following track schedule:

Monaco 1988 (in absence of an earlier version of the track)
Zandvoort
Silverstone 1967
Nordschleife (this is where we are up to)
60s Hockenheim
Monza 66 Full Course
Spa 1988 (again in absence of an earlier version, although I believe Kunos has said they're working on a 60s version of Spa)

After that we're planning on doing a late 80s/early 90s World Sportscar Championship season running at the following:
Suzuka 1988 no chicane
Monza 1988
Silverstone 1988
Circuit de la Sarthe
Nordschleife Endurance
Magny Cours
Hermanos Rodriguez 1988
Autopolis Oita

As you can see, my mates and I are a bit less picky when it comes to mod tracks (there's only a few of us and we take it pretty casually) however the 1988 tracks are the ones my Rainmaker which I feel are reasonably good quality.

So yeah, some of those might work for a season with those cars too.

Thanks AJ, the "F1 67 mod" is that the one from drivingitalia.net with reworked sounds? would you recommend it? I think it is very good.
Longford 67 still has too many holes as far as I know.

Yeah that's the one. It's not half bad. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they aren't all just the same car with slightly different models and actually have their own characteristics and quirks. Whether those characteristics are lifelike or not, I'm not the person to ask, but they are fun to drive I know that much for sure! And they sound fantastic (especially the Ferrari 312 and Honda RA300).

I was going to suggest we use it here at XGN but after the response to my last Mod suggestion I wasn't game to (no offence intended).

Should we try the F1 67 mod from drivingitalia.net, it is the same mod we used in the previous "Rooshooters Mixed Bag" but with updated sounds and changed handling to facilitate "four wheel drifting", could be real good.

At this stage I am happy with the car selection on my server, and I was going to suggest a season with these cars, of 8
races at different tracks, where every driver has to drive each car at least once.
Track selection could be:
Zolder 66
Monza 66
Hockenheim 60's
Silverstone 67

If anyone would like to suggest a track they are more than welcome to do so.
If anyone thinks the whole idea for the season is a load of bollocks they are welcome to say so.
Could we use my server for the fun run on Thursday night as a stress test, keeping in mind I will be bit useless as the admin of it.

Rooshooter is the server just your home PC? You might struggle to host a fair number of drivers unless you have a very good upload speed and low latency.

Thanks Bruce , I think it maybe more FUN if people can run the whole season in one car if they want to, I have found switching cars
it takes some time to adapt.  I would choose GT40.

Be aware of the chicane at the end of the lap before the start/finish straight. If you go off the track to the left you fall into a hole and have to force quit the game. Did it a few times learning the track and twice again today when pushing it.

I was countersteering and downshifting. I think I always subconsciously think about where the track is when I'm off like that. I ran a bit wide after the slight jump and clipped the grass, which sent me into the slide.

that was a bit of fancy driving, the spectators had complete faith in your driving skills too, they didn't even flinch.  They may thought twice when seeing the latter part after reentering and trying to pickup up the can of beer off the floor and weaving!

Well no wonder the RUF was "okay"for me, I was driving it pretty slowly, when I tried to pick up the pace, I found a grass edge, normally a different spot each time and couldn't put a lap together.
Swapped to the other Porsche for race 2, but concentration and energy was on a slide, not to mention sore shift arm!  I think with a lot of practice a good season is on the way!
Roo, your server behaved well, at least for myself and those few around me. Thanks.

Lucky, I hate invisible holes/walls.  After a week of 4hrs per night of sleep I wasn't up to racing, had too many other things to deal with so didn't want to jeopardise anyones race with a careless mistake. Hope to get my new joystick Monday and then I won't have to fight the steering to keep the car on the track as it currently decides to steer to the left or right on its own randomly.

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/bridgehampton-race-circuit.6604/ (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/bridgehampton-race-circuit.6604/)

I forgot how much fun the Bridgehampton track is, ran a few races in it and the 2 eleven seems fairly evenly matched with the 911R. Lotus lap time is slightly quicker I think but its also a bit more sketchy on the limit prone to snap into a tank slapper if you overdo the angle. The 911R is almost perfect here I think, I didnt try the cobra but the few that did seemed to be a bit off the pace in it but I will give it a go over the weekend at some point but it looks like a typical American muscle car that really doesnt like corners but has some pace on the drag strip.

edit: I did some laps in the Cobra and forgot how much fun that car is too, works real well at this track but its well down on the other two cars. Nearly 5 seconds slower around a lap so likely not the best mix of cars if your thinking of running them together but if just running the one car maybe switch the 911R to the older 911 RSR, the lotus switch for an older proto or GT car something like 911 GT1, 908, 917, 962, 935 etc but if your wanting 3 cars that match up you may want to rethink either bring 2 cars closer in laptimes to the cobra or find another car closer to the other 2.

The lotus and 911R are an interesting mix as they are similar in laptimes but done very differently. The lotus is slower in straights, faster overall by just a little but in a race both have their chances.

I dont know how cars like the 718RS spider would compare to the cobra or maybe the 911RSR.

I just tried the 911 RSR 3.0 and was withing a tenth of my time in the Cobra, this also being an old car probably fits better with the Thursdays spirit. There may be another of the older cars that could be close to these two cars, I will test a couple more and see if I can find some that match up ok.

the new is amazing, they way they have styled the unit and maintained the functionality. It looks like something crossed between "Alien" and a scorpion!
I have one of your older types, I tried using it in a flying sim, but was useless, never thought to drive a sim with it, I am impressed with your skill.
Looks like your going to be that bit harder to beat in the new year.

I've had a saitek cyborg before, not this version. I ended up breaking the plastic ring at the base where the stick goes into the base due to the amount of force I give it wil racing lol.. so they don't last too long with me :)  Saiteks are a lil better made than the dogitechs.

Once I can come to terms with the tyre temps and driving cars with different cambers and still making the corners I should improve and be a lil more competitive.  It's been a long time since I really did any serious racing ( not since GTR2).  When I get the new joystick I'll film how I have to drive so you guys get an idea what it's like compared to your wheels.

It's a bit of an anachronism compared to the other two which means while they may be close together in default setup they can often be tuned to be a lot better in my experience. Happy to be proven wrong though.

Any reason you don't use a wheel?

physical disability unfortunately does not allow me to, fused hips, fused spine and im stuck leaning forward. I did try a G25 years ago when I had more movement. I was 2 second slower with it over joystick because I couldnt right or left foot brake or clutch, I just wasn't stable.  I have major movement loss since the years of GTL and GTR2. You will see in the video how I'm stuck in position to use the joystick next week.

Didnt test it yet but it runs very different tyres so not really a great mix. I checked some times on RSR and it seems considerably quicker on softs. One car that may be close but untested is the tuned rx7. Its not as old as the Cobra and 911 rsr but its not exactly modern either.

When you have a disability you learn to be adaptable or you miss out. And I don't give up too easily. I can come across as a big negative but I still persist through it and sometimes do quite well, sometimes I don't.  But really not much different than anyone else.

I used to be a hard man to pass on some of the tighter circuits, that's slowly coming back to me as I get better at setting up the car in Assetto for the joystick. It's definitely a tad harder than it was in GTL/GTR2.

I can tell you what's involved, and you can judge yourself. It's not too hard really. You just drop a few files in, start the server from a new program, set pit delays in a separate cfg file similar to entry_list.ini (actually, I just had a thought - I could just use the entry_list.ini). I'll send you something in the next few days.

P.S. I won't be able to make it tonight (maybe for one of the last races).

Was this track "too hard" AJ, with very high speeds and NO brake markers, it still could be used as a warmup to a season with no handicapping
taking place , do you think? I just find it a very atmospheric track for the time.
Title: Re: Thursday league Next season Ideas and Testing
Post by: AJ on January 06, 2017, 08:23:02 AM
I love the track myself. No brake markers does make it a bit tricky but there are some visual elements that you can use to work out where to brake, like people on the side of the track, the end of tree lines, etc.

The differenece with the 190e same as Alfa dtm and M3 e30 dtm is they run full slicks. This means they will be fairly sifferent pace per compound and over longer races may fall away.

Regarding track I think its as it was when they raced there as Lilski does put in lots of effort to recreate tracks accurate to the period they raced there. The track needs a few laps to get the feel for it but I think finding markers isnt so hard. Its generaly a crest or one of the many objects on the side of the road.

Trickiest part of the track there is it will punish driving off the road, it doesnt need plp or other things to punish track limits abuse.

The closest match to the lotus 2 eleven is generally the ktm xbow. Its a bit trickier to drive as it has no ABS but other then that they are kind of similar.

Here are the laptumes from the server to gove people a look that didnt check it ingame with ptracker.

I do not mind doing so and people can suggest a track  they like, more suitable to Rx7, Lotus 2 Eleven etc.

doesn't worry me

Time to let me know what cars you all like to race at the following tracks and any others that would be cool in a season and I will start a poll

Zolder 66
Monza 66
Hockenheim 60's
Silverstone 67
Zandvort
Monaco
Bruno(there is a good version available from http://www.triple7racing.net/downloads/ac-tracks-downloads/) but you have to join.
Longford 67
Ford GT40 for rooshooter.

How about the season I originally suggested, but if some people feel they would be more comfortable driving something other than the
Ruf, F40, 908 or GT40, they can nominate a car of their choice as long as it does not give them an unfair advantage and as much as possible is in keeping with the spirit of the Thursdays theme.

Also prefer sprints as it gives me a better chance of finishing at least 1 race

I prefer sprints with reverse grid format, I think it provides exciting racing for everyone. Thanks for organising Phil.

These might need a little further testing (they seem good to me, but as I've stated before I'm not the best person to test the quality of these things), but if you wanted to keep it proper period you could scrap the RUF and the F40 and add these two monsters

Jaguar XJ13 (http://assetto-db.com/car/jaguar_xj13)
Ferrari 330 P4 (http://assetto-db.com/car/ferrari_330p4)

I've just run a reasonable distance race against the AI and they're all within about 2 seconds around Mugello at least. I have a feeling the Jags might have more legs on the tracks with lots of straights though.

Hmm maybe disregard. Just did another run around Imola and the Jag and Ferrari are both about 5 or 6 seconds a lap quicker.
