This is Kunos humour. It's his nod to the placebo effect - where people say cars feel better or worse when they haven't changed at all, for example.

I've had a very quick go at most of the cars. I took them around Silverstone for a few laps.

I class them thusly, by comparable lap times:

Class C (about 2:38)
Mazda MX5 Cup
Toyota AE86 Tuned

Class B (about 2:35)
Nissan Skyline R34
Mazda RX7 Spirit R - great drifter!
Toyota Supra MK IV

Class A
Mazda RX7 Tuned (2:28)
Supra MK IV Time Attack (2:22)

The Class A cars are quite beastly and fun.

The Class C cars are sort of Toyota GT86-ish, underpowered and predictable.

The Class B cars make a good group of comparable cars which could be the 4th candidate for Season 12. Or for something a little faster and wilder, we could go the Supra MK IV Time Attack, which is still pretty easy to drive.

And I have this pic for you to oggle at:

Geez, I barely recognise your 86 :)

Do you still have to add skins folder with the skins names to the server for skins to work ? or do just need the data.acd thingy ?
You never needed the skins on the server. That's a client-side thing only. You just name the skin in the entry list. You need data.acd for the car checksum.

In the spirit of trying some of the cars that will feature in the upcoming season 12 poll, this Tuesday we will try the Ferrari 312T and the Lotus 72D at Silverstone. I'll wait a bit until we do the Jap Pack, so people have a little more chance to buy the pack.

2 x 10 lap races, with a 15 min qually prior to both races. The idea is for you to do a race in each car, for comparison.

Realistic weather for Silverstone at this time of year is about 18 degrees.

Any plans for what you want to run next week Wally? maybe a fun run in the Jap pack or a test for one of the season options? I will be away next week so I wont be able to race tues nite but will put up whatever on the prac server and give it a run before then. I think Jap pack should hit us some time tonight and I will make a trackday server with all the new cars I think on one of the other servers, I also currently have a server with all the season options up.

Brands hatch with 312T 72D awesome fun
Bathurst with ford gt40, this is a little brutal to say the least :)
Spa in the 787B, C9, 190E and M3 DTM cars.

The xgn server still just had the last round prac server up as I didnt know what to put up there.

I was just about to put up a post about a Ferrari 312/Lotus 72D fun run at Silverstone.

6387
Yeah, the format is always a decision to be made. Maybe I should put up a poll if we want more polls ;)

The format is usually dictated by the car(s) too.

E.g.
C9/787B vs DTM cars - one long race with qual with probably 2 pitstops (depending on fuel loads per class etc).
GT40 - maybe qual, 1 sprint, longer reverse grid race (longer race gives people time to work through the field).
Ferrari 312/Lotus 72 - one long race with qual with probably 2 pitstops
Japanese car - 3 reverse grid races like the GT86

6388
Good no nonsense comparison video. I like it. It looks like the car scores well on the fun-per-$ scale.

6389
Geez, you were flying at the start!

How many TV's do you watch at once? :)

Another great vid. Thanks.

I thought it was one of the best seasons we've had for a while. You always seemed to be in the thick of the action, with lots of close pack racing. The reverse grid format and the slow, predictable cars really helped with that.

The car itself was a little sluggish, often feeling liked it bogged down without a 2.5 gear, but you could still get it a bit sideways so I didn't mind it overall.

The racing was excellent overall, I thought. Given the closeness of the cars and the reverse grid format, this was real "rubbin' racing", and pretty clean mostly.

My races tonight were action packed as always. Race 3 was a bit of a shocker though. I got turned around with a rear hit on lap 1 and sent to the back of the pack, with some gap to the second last car. I fought all the way back to 10th over the next 6 laps only to get caught in someone else's loose moment and sent back to second last. It was such hard work to pass that was a bit of a frustrating see-saw. But I still had fun :)
