The halfway point of the season takes us to the big one: The Nordschleife (Endurance Cup layout).
The 1975 grand prix was won by the Argentinian Carlos Reutemann in a Brabham.
You will need the OSRW PIT MOD (http://www.mediafire.com/file/w2nqtqlyctlt8m9/Nordschleife_Endurance_Cup_34pits_AC1.14.rar).
The race will only be 7 laps (so I may have to adjust fuel and tyre wear after some testing - perhaps make them just 1x for this race). If anyone has any thoughts on pit stops in a 7 lap race, shoot. It would probably be best to not require a pit stop - but we'll have to see if tyres can last the full distance without a stop, even at 1x.
Also, I'll make all of practice a qualifying session, so we can actually get more than 1 qualifying lap in.
-
Im gonna have to get the DLC for nordschleife but im keen :D

Go for it! It's a great track.

The practice server is set to 1x tyre wear and fuel rate, and in the interests of people being able to work out a pit strategy, I'll leave it at that for the race too. I haven't tested those multipliers myself, but being only a 7 lap race, it feels more right. Maybe it means you won't have to pit at all - I don't know. If anyone tries it and finds some disastrous consequence, let us know.

If I ever get past a warm-up lap I'll let you know. lol

Offline I did 4 timed laps (that didn't count because I had little off tracks) and the fuel estimator says I can do 8 laps with 100 litres fuel. The tyres (Hard) might not make it in good nick. They'll be struggling for the last lap or two. I reckon the tyre situation will make it interesting.

3 and a half hours practice, yet to finish a lap :) I am concerned how I am going to do 7 laps in an hour

I had to go offline with 0% to finish laps, but I did manage about 3 without contacts that would have caused damage. It's the first two that really cause me problems.
I'm going to try again sometime today on the server. Once you do two it actually feels easier............and then you miss a brake point. :)

It could be a race of attrition by the sound of it. Slow and steady might win the race.

yeah and who knows the track the best, congrats Kcender on the win :)

I'm both disappointed and glad, I'm at work for this round. I think the rabbit has got this one in the bag, but the turtles should at least finish...a lap or two behind...lol

Well I know the track well but still suck around the ring lol
-
slowly getting there, but still ages off kcenders pace , but I was just on a 8.01 or maybe even a 8.00 but smashed very last corner :(

Hi Wally: unfortunately I have to confirm that I have to dismantle the rig tomorrow for my move. Sorry. Not sure when it will be back up yet.

Hopefully for the next race.

As a slight concession to the difficulty of the track, I'll just leave the track grip at 100% the whole time.
People will have to be aware that drivers ahead may be backing off the pace to survive the race, so be prepared for cars being slow into corners. It will be all too easy to punt someone into a fence and potentially wreck their race.
I've only done a 8:33 myself, but I've opted for reasonably high downforce, to keep the car on the track for safety's sake. You can easily do the distance on 1 tank, but I haven't seen how the tyres fare over the distance yet.

I wonder if softs would do the race
-
I keep crashing in the GP section. :'(
I don't know that bit as well as the rest. :-\
-
boy its gonna be a very quiet discord tuesday night everyone will be too focused to talk. those kerbs are so unforgiving on these cars

Yeah, I stay well clear of any kerbs.

After 2 hours of work, here is what remains of my glorious rig :(
Yeah, next race (without practice) is the target, Wally.

What GP section? >:(
Why on earth are we using the post 1981 version for a 1975 season? >:(
We're not using the GP section.
-
I don't understand, the first part of the lap for me is modern nurburgring
-
It would always be a compromise, as there's no (decent) version with the south loop. :-\
It's probably better this way, as it should provide more overtaking opportunities than just Dottinger Hohe. ;)

But the short version rather than the longer GP section.
-
has anyone been able to do enough laps to see if softs would last the race
-
yes. 8)
-
lol is that yes I have done enough laps or yes softs will last a race ?
-
Softs don't help me in the Surtees, but I'd be very surprised if you could do the whole race on one set of softs.
-
lol is that yes I have done enough laps or yes softs will last a race ?
I can't tell you that.
The only chance I have of beating you is for you to make a strategic error. :-X
-
what do yous think about having this race double points due to the intensity, so almost like something like the Bathurst 1000

You will beat me, in hours of practice I have only completed 3 laps and never done more that 1 and third laps before my car is wrecked

The only problem with that is is that it's not fair on people who can't make this round for whatever reason.
-
ahh yep thats understandable all good!

Hello my friends!
I can`t race tonight i had 0 practice due to work load but i am keen for next week......if my elbow and neck stand the raw power of these machines.
Sorry guys!!!
-
Im no longer gonna be able to make it tonight sorry, i have too many assessments due this week gotta get them done. good luck
-
heres my brab set for those interested, seems nice around nords

Yeah I wasn't paying attention and should have spoken up sooner....
I had assumed it was only the practice server that had 100% damage.
I haven't found any user variable that controls how much engine damage you suffer from frontal impacts even when the engine is in the rear!
And searching the Kunos forums has came up empty so far.
As it is it seems that any impact, even a glancing blow where the actually impact is quite low compared to your ground speed, causes total engine loss.
It seems some cars suffer it and others don't so Kunos is keeping something from us which seems to be the only thing Race sim developers are good at.
The races have all been at 100% damage for a long time. It could be that any impact of enough speed translates to engine damage no matter where the engine is located. Bacchulum will have to take some Porsches and smash them into the fence ;)

Happened to me last night. Side glance of the fence not overly hard and engine gone! :) :)
-
Yeah, fair call, if you reckon it's a mod thing and not an inherent AC fault. It would be a shame to go softer on the gearbox/engine damage through mis-driving though, as that's a "feature" of these older cars. Hopefully you can find a way to tone down the impact damage.
-
If it helps you compare cars, I gave the barriers a few hits in the Surtees and only copped aero damage.
-
I clouted the barriers about 5 times in the Tyrrell, all my engine damage came from the jumps
-
The problems fixed, albeit with a work around.
The patch (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1c57gW2312cEI77QPYG9LbVkW4d30XB-Y) is updated, with twice the damage.
This way the server can be set to 50% damage and all other damages will stay the same except this odd engine killing one, which from some brief testing, seems not to occur if the global multiplier is set to 50%.
A post to notify all members of the new patch and updating the server will be needed, Wally if you could be so kind.
Ta
Nice one G0D. I'll update it later tonight.

Something just popped into my mind (and it's lonely :P )
Could it be that some cars have the radiator at the front and some don't? ???
