Title: S31R1: Zandvoort
Post by: Wally on December 04, 2019, 08:17:35 PM
The first round was dominated by Kcender in his Ginetta, winning both races and the only person to get into the 1:43's in race mode.

We kick off the European leg of the GT4 World Tour at Zandvoort, Netherlands.

A reminder of the race format:

"Qualifying" Race 1 - 20 mins + 1 lap

"Feature" Race 2 - 40 mins + 1 lap, starting in order of race 1 finish.

This race has a compulsory pit stop where you must change tyres. Refuelling is not allowed (let me know if any car can't make 40 mins on 1 tank).

Rolling starts in each race (the formation lap will count towards the race duration). Aim for about 90 kph, and leader calls "go" at the start/finish line. No overtaking until the "go" signal.

I was about a second a lap quicker in the Ginetta than the Porsche but forgot to pick it in the Car Dealer .  >:( >:( >:(
Thanks however to various people having offs I managed to get home 10th in race 1.  Race 2 I had Killa behind me
for many laps until I pitted at the half way mark.  Any hope of holding that spot was lost when about 3 laps later I banged
the wall costing me around 3 seconds and a slower car get home in and limped home 14th.
On to next week....

Ginetta 7s
Mustang 20s
Maserati 20s
Porsche 20s
Excellent. Can you repack all the Ginettas and the Mustang with say, 25s? Just the data.acd's that people can download. That will bring everything closer to the Maserati and Porsche over the 40 min race distance and maybe incentivise people to choose those cars more.

Hmmm, I feel bad about the 13 sec advantage that all the Ginettas had over the rest of the field, so I'll adjust the points accordingly, looking at the total race times.

Edit, so by adding 13 seconds to all the Ginettas, the adjusted finish order as far as points go is:

1) Kcender87 BEST: 1:43:388 TOTAL: 42:05:085 Laps:23 SesID:0 Rank:0
2) Matthew111 BEST: 1:44:428 TOTAL: 42:09:382 Laps:23 SesID:1 Rank:1
3) AGK BEST: 1:44:563 TOTAL: 42:27:566 Laps:23 SesID:2 Rank:2
4) Wally BEST: 1:45:255 TOTAL: 42:30:093 Laps:23 SesID:4 Rank:6
5) buellersdayoff BEST: 1:44:909 TOTAL: 42:30:646 Laps:23 SesID:8 Rank:3
7) Jeremy BEST: 1:45:344 TOTAL: 42:33:379 Laps:23 SesID:3 Rank:11
6) Seanus BEST: 1:45:486 TOTAL: 42:45:616 Laps:23 SesID:7 Rank:7
9) Mael BEST: 1:45:819 TOTAL: 42:47:675 Laps:23 SesID:11 Rank:4
10) Phil.8 BEST: 1:45:298 TOTAL: 42:48:260 Laps:23 SesID:13 Rank:13
11) Rob BEST: 1:45:569 TOTAL: 42:51:800 Laps:23 SesID:12 Rank:12
8 ) ab156 BEST: 1:44:751 TOTAL: 42:59:354 Laps:23 SesID:5 Rank:5

Idea: Make the pit stop times equal, but use success ballast on the car rather than the driver. Say take an average of the top three quickest lap times in each car and apply 0, 5, 10, 20kg (as an example) or better yet 5kg per second of difference lest the cars just keep getting heavier and heavier, of ballast.......

Adjusting pitstop times per event would do similar but that can't be done ingame and would need, though small, a download every week.
I used to be in a League with a sync client so this kind of stuff was possible. It was a while back in rFactor.
That's an interesting idea. I feel it's a bit skewed by the individual driver's ability though. For example, Kcender would make whatever car he chose heavier, disadvantaging everyone else down the field in the same car. For this season, I'd prefer just to have the pitstop times adjusted.

As for my races, race 2 was fun. I was getting a bit held up by the Jeremy/AGK battle in front of me, so pitted and got some clear track. Then AGK exited pits a bit later in front of me, and I knew I'd have an advantage over his cold tyres for a couple of laps, so pressed hard and just managed to make a pass stick around the outside of turn 1 for crucial track position on this hard to pass circuit. I held him off for 8 further laps but then had a little bit of oversteer two corners from the end and AGK pounced, taking away my 3rd spot on the podium. Good race.

GT4 data updates (pitstop times) (https://drive.google.com/open?id=126MQx1fqxdlkNwZkDxbGF3P2Uli-UH-h)
Thanks. Can you do the Ginetta Supercups too, as they're also 7 seconds.
What did you change in the Mustang?

25, or did I stuff up? can't 'member now and I haven't started drinking yet. Give me a bit and I'll double check and do the other Ginettas, 25 seconds also?
Sorry, my bad. Brain full error. Yes, 25 for the Supercups. Thanks  8)

LOL so Mael starts out of place in front of me and I get a penalty for hitting him when he should not have been there in the first place, which ruins my whole night as you cant pass here ????

Hey Seanus, can you check this please? It looks like the pit time is still 7 seconds in ginetta_gt4_2017_lhd, and mustang_fp_gt4 is still 20 seconds.

Well I can't check that everyone's started in the right order as well as everything else. Once the race is started and an incident's happened, It'll just be checked like any incident.

Ok, I will just make up positions on the formation lap then as well as it cant be policed, might a well skip qualifying and everyone start where they feel like

I am happy to take the penalty, just making a point

I expected it to be a challenge keeping up with the Ginettas, but it seems the difference between the Porsche and the Ginetta is just a bit too much. Well, should have done my homework. Had some good close racing there at the back...thanks.

Btw, Mael passed me as well before the start of the race.
