Title: Car for the ARSE challenge - poll
Post by: Wally on October 23, 2014, 06:04:39 PM
Formula Abarth and BMW - we have experience with the cars having used them in a season.

Cobra - also have lots of experience with the car, and it's harder to drive, which may give us an edge.

The idea is that in the first Tuesday night after this season ends, we'll have a try out race in the chosen car, for all (or 24 of us) to participate in. Then the fastest 12 (most likely) will be put into the XGN team.

OK, I'm going to call it the Cobra. Does anybody have any track thoughts (from the AC tracks)? Monza 1966, or something harder? Silverstone maybe? Has a fairly nice flow to it.

Chief,  should we engage the cone of silence?

So we can surprise the opposition...

One of the conditions for both teams is that they have to be tracks that come with AC.

I'm going to have to tell them our choice soon anyway :)

So far, I reckon it will be Cobras at Silverstone.

I think Spa is way more fun then Silverstone even in the Cobras.

A shame there has only been a hand-full of people that have voted.

That's democracy without compulsory voting for you.
I've been doing laps in the Cobra at Spa. It works well. I reckon that's the go. The WR is held by one Darren Marsh, and I'm 4 secs off that with a 2:47.350.

it is a total of 12, so there is our team! maybe?

If you want a committed Cobra driver, I'm in.

For me I really dont have any preference in the cars we have to choose from. I suck in all of them  :D

So this challenge you've named "Cobras at Spa", what car and track combo will it be?

I like it!   What do we normally run about 10 to 15 laps?

Seeing we choose what is driven, whats stopping us being in the cobras and ARSE in the Robbins, sure they will have more fun but it will also test to see how good they are. The cars are pretty evenly matched and in the right hands, Robbins have been known to exceed speeds over 110kmh and cornering speeds of well over 15kmh which is pretty much the same as a cobra.  ;D

Cobras vs Robins sounds good. We've made a few modifications though, I'm sure you guys won't mind  ;D

Thats fine Im pretty sure thats exactly what the robbin needed lots more weight  ;D Those guns do look so scary, shame you have no bullets.

I think rules will permit you to add more weight and drag but needs a stock robbin motor as its already a very highly tuned lawnmower motor for gt racing.
