Title: PCars 2
Post by: GymnasticHippo on September 01, 2017, 09:13:20 PM
Figured with all the pre-hype that's going on I'd open the conversation on the upcoming PCars 2.

Is anyone planning on getting it?

My story behind PCars 1 and AC is interesting. I've always loved a good, solid career mode and PCars was the closest thing I'd had to a Gran Turismo or Forza of any kind (don't flame me... i didn't know any better at the time).

I loved AC from the outset; but did find it quite to be a hot lap simulator. the physics were good, but at the time of purchase i didn't really know anything about online MP racing so i felt somewhat letdown by the structure of progression offered.

I persisted with PCars and A/C kind of took a back seat. It had a lot going for it, and i admit that i was able to sink 90 hours of predominantly single player racing into it. Dynamic lighting, weather events, a good spread of vehicles etc. but there was something in the physics dept that i couldn't quite put my finger on that never immersed me the way A/C did.

For all early access reviews I've read/seen on youtube the physics and tire modelling is greatly improved and i have to admit i'm likely to go down the rabbit hole again (though this time not at the expense of AC).

Figured I'd ask if anyone else is considering giving it a shot?

I will get it
PCars is odd, a couple of cars feel awesome, rest feel weird ,  if they get it close to AC physics with all the finishing touches AC is missing It could be pretty good

Couldn't really comment on the physics of Pcars as the naff UI and lack of proper triple screen saw me hardly drive it. I had spent nearly a year away from sim racing waiting for the bloody thing too. It was more than just disappointing that it turned out to be such a pile of poo. (I used to race in an rF league with the guy that that went on to do the tyres for Pcars.)

I've doubled down on more disappointment as I have already ordered Pcars2. Here's hoping I'm pleasantly surprised.

Never quite got that myself, isn't the point of racing to compete against other humans? But that is just my humble opinion  ;D

I'll be waiting for proper reviews first. But will most likely get it anyways. Also prefer to wait a bit nowadays and get it cheaper on g2a or the like.

I know Mael; don't judge me. I grew up on consoles and didn't know any better  :o

I was never really introduced to MP gaming until a few years back (thank you bf3). until then MP gaming was playing with friends, not random interwebs people lol.  The time frames i had to play also meant that true MP wasn't really an option, so i tended to stick with games where i could not control my start and end times.
