Hello lurker.
They had some interesting rules then. I hope to have a season where the pit stop strategy actually comes into it for a change.

Did a season in these at ROOZ, strategy choices were fun. We did a couple full gp distances and 2 and 3 stops were both options. A 1 stop would be too slow as running heavy loses heaps of time and a fuel an tyres stop was usually about 20 secomds lost but could be 2 secs per lap faster.

No refuelling at pitstops, but you can do whatever you have to do regarding tyres.
That sux.
I can only get 39.6 laps out of a tank. :(
mmmm,... they still had refuelling back then... didn't they? But still, it's weird the tank is so small... I think I remember they could do a 1 stopper easily. No?

In 2004 they had an interesting rule where you started the race with the fuel you finished qualy with, I doubt anyone did a 1 stop as they would have to qualify too heavy. 2 and 3 stops were common from what I saw plus Schumacher did win in france by switching to a 4 stopper and running qualy stints to beat Alonso who had track position on him early and it didnt look like he could pass him on track.

They were also the fastest f1 cars until this year but if they were allowed to qualify on light fuel they would still probably hold track records over this years cars as qualifying with 8 to 15 laps of extra fuel was costing them a bit of time in qualy.

yeah for sure did it on purpose so we could claim we were faster. that's how well roll... fk me... get over yourself

I have nothing to get over but thanks for your concern and also nice tone from a moderator here so keep up the non toxic environment your other moderator pal had a complaint about.

I think you may have misunderstood the original point Marty. If I understand it correctly Ptracker and PLP use AC track limits to determine valid laps. Whether or not Penalties is set is separate from that even though the penalties are applied using the same track limits.

Can someone confirm my understanding since I am using PLP and Ptracker for practising.

Thx

PLP will show proper limits, Ptracker uses whatever limits are set on the server unless otherwise setup but clearly thats not the case as stracker clearly shows track limits in use on any lap stats.

PLP is the only thing that's going to penalize you on race night. Just pay attention to where that warns you.

Qualifying uses in game track limits or at least used to and no plp so having a server setup this way is of no help to anyone running in it.  ;) If 3 admins/moderators cant figure this out then lucky an idiot like myself can help them out a little. After all thats what a few of them regularly called me along with other names commonly used by those under 5 and the reason for me not running the server or future races here any more.  :-*

:( I will be otherwise occupied for this Tuesday night  ;D  - so I'll have to miss the Red Bull ring. Had a quick practice anyway - and got to a 1:16:9 with ye olde restrictor - thanks for adding that to the practice server Joe.

One thing that I think may be an issue here is the track limits... The last 2 corners seem to be able to be driven all sorts of ways and still register as valid. Anyway good luck all. have fun.
You can always cut that last corner quite aggressively in AC. You just have to watch that yellow kerb a bit. Conversely, it's quite easy to get a cut at T1 if you run a little wide on exit.

I'm off the pace even with no restrictor :(

Seeing the practice server is setup with no penalties 4 tyres allowed out it means very little, ironically those that always claimed others were cutting to be faster now setup a server where they can simply cut to be faster.  ;D

Its amazing nobody here even notices when the practice server is setup in a way that will just catch people out with track limits when it comes to the race night.

R2: Jun 6, Red Bull Ring GP, 24 laps + 16 laps

Weather Forecast (outlook is 25° mid clear, light 9 kmh SSE wind)

Following that link you posted has a fairly different forecast for next Tuesday.

Any penalties for those that were using DRS incorrectly?
No, not this round. Just warnings as we got used to how it should work (I sent a PM to someone who was clearly doing it wrong). But see the RBR thread - next round there will be penalties.

I didnt get home til very late last night with road works everywhere and a delay in the flight. With DRS it would be good to see in results any illegal uses but also not giving a penalty to those clearly using it all race is a big disadvantage to those that did. I think people running out front at faster then their qualy pace likely used it every lap in race 2. ;)

The wind is actually a huuuge deal! I much prefer it in one direction than in the other. Completely different laps...

Is it going to be the same for the whole Tuesday night or will it change a lot between sessions?

Wind will be dependent on the current forecast so it may not be either current server setting. TC I assume is going to be off as GP2 doesnt use this but either way I am away until late tuesday so cant change anything on the server, I may make race 2 at best on the night and wont have acces to the server til the..

Minorating had an update so know it takes into account track cutting and also crossing the pit exit line when exiting the pits. Even though all here are on the whitelist best to avoid straight cutting any sections and d9nt cut the poit exit li e on any tracks that are marked. You can cross it from the track side if on a lap but need to avoid doing so when exiting pits as it will negatively effect your rating which may hurt getting into other MR servers.

The cutting I think is mostly to avoid big cuts at places like Monza and the last chicane at Imola, the pluvin should give warning and let you know if you cross but after warning it will give big rating hits especially if you also have a collision after a cut or pit exit cut. I have also made tbe practice server A grade only plus whitelist so any non xgn guys should be no trouble to have on track if they can get in.
I'm getting warnings even during a practise session. Is that correct?

There is the ingame track limits MR is seperata and should show in chat as well as top of screen but I have not seen those. Pit exit line is also all sessions so best to just not cross this line in any session amd its better for others on track if they know anyone exiting pits will stay their side of the line. I tested and it only works the one way as intended so should be no issue cutting across the pit exit line if your not exiting pits.

Apps / Re: SEASON 17 DRS APP - MANDATORY DOWNLOAD
« on: May 27, 2017, 12:08:42 AM »
Tested the app a bit tonight, works as it is supposed to and its fairly simple to use so will add a bit to the season. DRS I found was worth about .7 per lap here but it still wont make passes that easy as you need to be close and get a good run out of the last turn which isnt the easiest thing. Passing in other parts of the track I found easier but then its also hard to judge against people likely using DRS.

When I had the lead and had Andy behind about .6 entering last turn he couldnt get close enough to make the move even with DRS, this is an issue with aero cars at Imola in general as dirty air exiting last turn causes quite a bit of understeer slowing your exit. The wind at 11-13kmh can be worth about 15kmh down the main straight into vs helping but I think the first half a lap is still faster into the wind then down wind as you get more aero grip into all the corners to Tosa.

Ive updated the server changed fuel usage to 50% and also added a second wind setting, temps should be 29-31 but wind is at base wind direction 95 or 225 with a variable in direction of 5 degress so this should give a couple of different directions in the practice server allowing people to see the effect wind has on the car here.

Bah, wish I had my rig for this.  Love the Exos.

Bummer are you away from home or did you get rid of your setup? Is it still the pedals issue maybe.

Looking at the map above id say the main straight goes east so a wind from the east should be a headwind.  ;)

Forecast wind os from the sw so I can change up the server maybe with a couple different winds as its maybe better for people to see how wind will effect it then practice for a specific direction. Come closer to the day the wind could be going completly different to the current forecast.

edit: just noticed the arrow is pointing down I am used to seeing maps with North and arrow pointing up and the map drawn relative to north usually. Either that or map oriented with the main straights but then north normally isnt straight up or down which is what got me here or maybe it just confuses idiots as it got me.

So now the question is to have a wind from the east would that be 90 or is it like the arrow and backwards so should be 180. Is wind from the north 0 or is that wind going to the north?

If I could get a redbull f1 skin thanks Wally.

Cool this will add a bit, there must be a penalty for someone not using the app then. Assuming that it works as intended ;)
