PROBLEMS DURING CHECKSUM

I re-downloaded the track from the link and re-installed. It didn't help.

I wasn't really happy with my qualifying effort after the pace I had in practise. Started 8th of the GT3 cars.

I started behind Shayne and that was almost my whole race ... looking at the arse end of a Blue Huracan :) The Lambo seemed to have a bit better grunt out of the slow turns and a little more pace down the straights.
I kept waiting for Shayne to make a mistake and hoping that I wouldn't be the one to make the mistake, but he was just keeping it clean. Then, just before half distance Shayne had a bit of a wobble coming onto the main straight and I got a slight overlap at the start of the straight then the Lambo started to slowly move away again. I jumped back in the slipstream but still the Lambo was pulling slowly ahead. I knew I had been much better on the brakes into T1 and this time I was much closer than before so I stabbed it up the inside and made the pass. I was a bit slow on the exit of T1 and Shayne fought back and we went door to door for a few corners before the mighty BMW prevailed (great racing there Shayne :D ).

Soon after this I was due to pit, came out of the chicane and started to move toward the pit lane. Luckily I noticed an LMP1 coming through and had to straighten and brake so we didn't make contact. Unfortunately this lost me some time entering the pits.
After the pit stop phase I was a number of seconds behind Shayne again and could see that he was in a train of GT3's. I soon caught the train and was looking at the rear of that Lambo again. Shayne and I kept moving up the places as other fell off and when Joe had an off we were fighting for 3rd with killa only just in front.

Shayne had been so consistent all race so I was resigned (and happy) to finish 4th when suddenly Shayne missed his braking spot at the end of the straight and went off and so nearly took killa with him. I cruised through into 3rd and tht's how we finished.

I was really happy with my consistentsy in this race as usually when I am racing so close for so long I am the one to make the mistakes. Great racing Shayne. A pity that you had the mistake.

General Discussion / Re: Win 10 defer upgrades

I just get notified when updates are available and then I can choose whether to install them or leave them for later. So if it's a race day I won't install any updates.

Hi Wally,
I noticed that I haven't been allocated a car in the sign up thread, and yet in that thread I said:
The BMW Z4 GT3 for me please.
 :P :P :P :P

Hey, you have the same rig as me :)

The only thing I have different compared to that picture is that I've swapped the shifter and keyboard swivel thingy to the opposite sides

Hey Shayne,
Good to see that you selected such a good rig. I chose the Obutto because I also use it as a workstation to work from home. Just remove the wheel rim from the hub and it's perfect. I need lots of screen real estate for work.

That wasn't an actual photo of my rig. I just grabbed it off the web due to lack of time. My keyboard is on the other side too and I don't currently have a shifter.
Now that I have a bit more time, here is a real picture ... complete with button box just resting on the table top.

174
Sorry Russ, I just had to laugh. The button box falling was the final straw.

With the pit app position, it's in a folder location (stupidly) where it gets overwritten when there's a game update or you verify your files in Steam, so you can lose your settings at that time.

Hwy Wally,
Glad it brightened your day. I was fuming at the time, but I'm over it now :D

As soon as the pit app appeared waaay over there I knew what had happened but it put me off ....
The button box used to be bolted to the wheel hub but the connecting arms snapped off some time ago. The Obutto seat has these "table tops" on each side and they swivel back and forth as well as being able to tilt for placing paperwork or something on them. So I have just had the button box sitting on the right hand table top but this is the first time the vibration has tilted it over. Time to get the allen keys out and do some tightening  ::)

Unfortunately I will be away for this round ....

I have 3 words for my race.
DISASTER!
DISASTER!!
DISASTER!!!

Disaster 1
Brushed the wall on the straight and the engine blew. I couldn't believe this one. I would have expected a little bit of side damage.
Escaped to pits - 289 sec controls locked

Disaster 2
Due to disaster 1 needed to change pit plan. Pit app appeared far right of right screen. I had previously placed it on middle screen where I could see it properly.
Trying to set new plan I took eyes off road too long missed brake point hit wall. Engine blew.
Escaped to pits - 258 secs controls locked.

Disaster 3
7 minutes left in race.
The bumpy track shook the rig so much that one of my "table tops" (the one holding up my button box) tilted itself down. Button box fell on keyboard. Hit wall. Engine blew.

Gave up.

In between I had some good times. I actually like the longer races but this one just wasn't to be.

177
Always BMW for me :D

178
Yeah, the missus isn't so happy because it makes it an hour earlier here .....

179
The BMW Z4 GT3 for me please.

Also sorry to Russ for the contact in race 2, I thought I left enough space on the outside. If not then I apologize.
No worries Mael. I wasn't happy at the time, but it's all good.

I think I let a good result slip through my fingers here.

In practise I had the pace.
In qual I did some ordinary laps, then I was on a flyer. According to the Delta it would have been good enough to take pole. Halfway through the last turn I ran out of fuel  :'( Qualified 8th :(

Race 1: Got away OK, had a little side by side battle with kcender (i think) and we dropped a bit behind the front group. When it came to braking into the hairpin at the bottom of the hill I apparently misjudged the slowness of the leaders as even though I was far behind, I had to lockup to avoid running into the back of AJ. I spun off and rejoined at the back ... Fought back to 18th at the end.

Race 2: Even though I didn't manage to set a proper time in Race 1, I still somehow started 5th for race 2 :) Got away OK with the pack, then got propped a bit at the uphill esses which allowed Mael to charge around the outside. We stayed side by side through the right hander over the top of the hill and down the hill until the braking zone where we touched lightly and I went off and rejoined a distant last.
From there I had some fun racing with the restrictor really playing a part and managed to fight back to 12th.

Well done to my teammate ab156 who was right up there amongst it at this round :D
