Could be why the V2 recently dropped in price. At the moment anything direct drive seems very custom, so wouldn't come with warranties etc, and even those that do aren't offered in Aus. Maybe I should start saving again now... Also interesting with the sold rims it won't run at full torque as they can't take it Logged Gratulin Hero Member Posts: 2159 Karma: 44 Re: Fanatec direct drive in the making? « Reply #11 on: June 05, 2017, 01:35:59 PM » Quote from: Joe on June 05, 2017, 01:12:09 PMYeah I'd been keen, though unsure if I'll need to reinforce the rig a bit to handle DD. Also interesting with the sold rims it won't run at full torque as they can't take it Can your arms take it!!One thing about this is that it is positioned above the current wheel base in terms of performance and price. I was hoping that it would also scale down to the elite level of wheel bases. This would give a lower torque wheel base with the benefits of the linearity etc of a DD wheel base. Making an electric motor work at lower RPM must be expensive? Otherwise removing all the belts and gears from a current wheel base should lower the cost don't you think? As for my arms no idea... had been getting shoulder pain recently with the current wheel so have shifted the seat back a click and seems better.
