IRL you can share pits...remember the V8s.
In fact IRL you can use a paddock to store the cars until the race.  You can do anything, right?

Actually putting the praccy server up with freejoin isn't a bad idea IMO.
Agree, I'll do that, half and half cars. Only problem is skins, but that's no biggie. Everyone on prac server will just have the default skin.

I don't know what the longer term plan is with pit boxes.

Yeah, you'd have to. It's bog ready to install. The benefit is more than the 24 set guys can then join, meaning reserves.

Freejoin: (and I'll create a thread for it, too)
http://www.kegetys.fi/freejoin/

Installation is as simple as it gets, unpack the files in your steam/steamApps/common/AssettoCorsa folder
You can backup some file there, but it's not really necessary; you can always ask steam to validate your installation, and that'll replace the file(s) that were changed.

You'll probably have to re-install this app after upgrades to AC.
Let's hope they solve this joining-shenanigans sooner rather than later.

will AC have more pit boxes eventually?

Or will they stay true to the RL versions of the tracks?

I imagine in RL it depends on how many pits they can actually accommodate. But then with races like Le-mans with over 160 competitors... I don't know.

Also nurburgring had 160 for the 24 hr used to be 220 but they scrapped the slow cars, but thats the full track with gp and Nordschleife around 25km so they cam handle that number.
