The menus look like rFactor generation. i don't know about the engine - it feels better than that. It supports triples, G27s AND you don't need to mess around with FFB and steering rotation like in rF. That means it is a good demo. Worth a few laps. The physics seem really good to me but I am not that good a judge. I did 48s for my best lap (and there is lots more time achievable) before I went back to Spa

***UPDATED***
Track=Mugello; everything standard, even gears which impacts the Lotus's @Mugello. Ferrari 458 GT2 1:47.453 BMW M3 GT2 1:47.895 Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 1:50.656 BMW Z4 GT3 1:49.789 P4/5 1:48.826 Merc SLS GT3 1:50.035 Lotus Evora GTC 1:50.303 Lotus Evora GX 1:51.118 I really struggled with the Mclaren. Try the demo I posted above. It will give you a taste of what a gokart sim should be like - it is extremely good. Having said that - it's back to AC and GTs @ Spa for me

It is worth the money right now even though you can only use it as an experimental device. The DK2 costs $460 delivered in Australia.
If the CV1 gets delivered in 12 months (I reckon it will take longer) then even if you upgrade immediately to that version you have had 12 months of use of a truly innovative device. It is not ready for full-time use so it definitely needs to be viewed as a "toy". Unlike your sim rig which is definitely not a "toy" So, at the moment, it is a purely indulgent purchase. If you can afford it then it is well worth the price for the experience. Just don't justify it in terms of not needing triples, or upgraded graphics card etc. You will still need to keep those. 1867

Anyone else try hitting objects in game? They bounce away very realistically. Try the new track signs on Silverstone GP. The ones at the hairpin with the big red arrows.

Assetto Corsa / AC News« on: October 19, 2014, 10:17:22 AM »
It is similar to the driving feel. We want realism rather than candy and we are getting that with the driving physics. I think we all wanted consequences of crashing to make the racing more realistic. No one really cares about seeing a windscreen cracking. The balance has to be carefully set in a game however. Having so much damage that you cannot continue to race is real but not very good for a weekly league race where you have at most 3 races to earn points. Destroying a gearbox because you downshift from 5th to 1st is ok but destroying it because you clash gears is too much especially when it is too easy to clash gears in the first place. So it is all about balance.
AC has drawn the line very well up to now and I think they will adapt the damage model to be usable as they listen to feedback. They learnt a lot from the first NetKar release where no one could work out how to start their cars and where the starter motor battery ran flat if you tried to start the car too many times... 1872
Inter-League Challenges / Re: ARSE challenge.« on: October 19, 2014, 10:06:58 AM »I did this sort of event in GPL with another league. We had a points table giving 1 point per place. 25 for 1st, 24 for 2nd etc. Highest points for the team won. That way everyone has to pull their weightDarren, do you feel that it is pretty much guaranteed that the current fastest driver will win? In our league Guybrush will win and Marty will come second by .451sec nearly every race left to their own devices - ie not taken out by us or each other You haven't run many XGN races but I understand that it would be a similar result if you were to participate in one of our races ie You first, Guybrush second, Marty third. If this is not the case then ok. If it is the case then will the challenge races be interesting if the outcome is pretty much predetermined? Your points allocation for the entire field does address that concern to some extent however. This is mostly academic interest on my part. I am most likely a spectator and my main beef is that AC doesn't support spectating - this challenge would be great fun to watch live! 1873
