Racing general / Re: rFactor 2 Steam players and or group?

I'm in the same boat really. I moved it over to steam but yet to fire it up. I used to play this quite a lot, right up to the point that I purchased AC.

Wishful thinking on my behalf, I haven't done any practice and would need to sit down and make sure everything is working properly.

Plus I've also signed up for a couple of iRacing leagues that take place over the weekends. I would probably prefer to put this Saturday towards practice for this SEK GT3 Series. I made the top split last week for week 1, when I only put in 2-3 hrs practice beforehand and without a setup. So I think I'll put in plenty of practice before this Sunday and see how well I can place.

I was surprised with my Qual time. I beat my previous PB in the practice by 2 seconds. :O

Race 1, I got loose on T6 I think it was and poor Chaps had nowhere to go besides right up my backside. Sorry mate, I'm not sure how this effected your race, surely didn't help. I received quite a bit of damage and decided to run until lap 4 before pitting to fill the car and fix the damage. I stupidly didn't setup my pitconfig until I was on the grid for R1 and forgot to actually select to fix my car. I pitted, filled and left realising seconds later that the car was still heavily damaged... I might be one of the ones you were referring to Marty when giving up plenty of time to let you past. This was mostly because of the damage, I didn't want to risk any further troubles. In the end, I blew the gearbox on T5 of the last lap. :(

Race 2, Turn 3 of lap 1 I had contact with Jeremy. I thought I had given you racing room but looking at the replay. I probably could of moved over a bit more. This put Jeremy and I to the back of the field. One lap later, I binned it hard into a wall and received some heavy damage. So once again I was to pit on lap 4, fill it and fix it. This time I did fix the car and managed to get away with a 7th place. Better then I was expecting after the start.

Both races, I was away from mostly everyone. Chasing down Stan in the second half of race 2 was about the only close racing I had. Well done Marty on the max points!

I haven't played rf2 since AC came out, but this looks interesting. I'll have to make sure rf2 is working and probably download most of the content but I'm keen if anyone wants to team up.

Interesting how in the first example Wally, Vipergod is his own rival "Doobs,Vipergod,Vipergod"  Never saw that coming  ;D ;D ;D

No, this just means Doob's rival for both races was Vipergod. Racer, Rival in Race 1, Rival in Race 2. This is Vipergod's rivals from that post. Vipergod,Simone,Phil.8 So in Race 1 was rivalling? Simone and in Race 2 the rival was Phil.

Either way, I ended up with the same result with both the Bob and John methods last night. If we were to vote on this, my vote is with the John method.

Both races I was able to gain a couple positions off the line, even bogged it off the line in R2 and still managed to pass people who must of bogged it completely. Hard one to get right off the line, not that it's any easier driving these beasts around the track once you getting going either. Exciting stuff :D

Race 1; I planned to run half the race then pit and go out again on the 120L with softs. Worked out ok, pitted just infront of Bird and we came out almost side by side. I should of done a few practice runs with this PitConfig app, nothing too bad, maybe lost 1-2 seconds because I wasn't expecting it to just throw me back into the car to go like it does. Clearly my own lack of knowledge causing issues there.
I had a little off not long after the pit stop and that was when Bird got the position off me. The final lap I missed maybe the last 5-6 apex's. Poor cornering and my tyres were hating me, I had a 1 second gap to Stan behind me on that chicane before the final turn. Coming out of that last turn, it was clear that Stan was on a mission and was going to be very very close to taking the position off me. Almost Stan, 0.002 was the difference :O Nice racing Stan, better luck next time :P

Sorry Wally for the outburst coming up to the finish line, I knew we were going to be side by side on the line and just had to try and get a laugh out of Stan.

Race 2; I got caught up in that big crash at the start. I actually got stuck between two cars for a good 5 seconds or so until I could reverse out of it lol. I thought I could change my strategy and still make a decent time out of it. I decided to pit on lap 2 and put hards on, filled the tank and fix the body and suspension (The fix was very quick, didn't even notice it. Mustn't of been as bad as it felt) I was doing 1:52's on the hards, 1:51's if I did a good lap for me. Pretty much adding 1-2s to each lap by moving over to the hards. I did manage to past Wally when he pitted on the final laps, so I thought I must of gained some time somewhere. Looking at the graphs now, it would appear we were quite a bit slower on the long stints and it wasn't a good strategy. At the time though, I thought the damage from the early incident would of slowed me more over the entire race so I was always going to pit early and fix it up and see what I could gain from there.

Looking forward to the next round, hopefully see you all there.

It's been on my mind for a while now, but it may of been a helping hand in thinking I need more close racing. I might be addicted :)

I'd like to sign up if there's still a possibility. Do you need my steam id or something? I can provide it later today when I get home if needed.

Hi XGN,

I've been sim racing with the ARSE guys for a couple years now and I feel like I still have free time for more racing. So I thought I would sign up here and see if I can get into some racing over here as well.

I'm not in front of my home pc atm, but I can get my GUID provided soon. I'm assuming current series are being run as I write this, I might start with your fun nights (Thursday?) and sign up for the next series when it comes up.
