Kcender takes the championship lead from Joe, with two wins and Joe having an unlucky race 2, failing to finish as a qualifier after an opening lap incident. Other improvers on the standings were Bacchulum and Mael, both moving up 2 places.

Penalties
Race 2The opening corner incident was as a result of Bacchulum, Joe and Bradc being 3 cars wide. No one was really at fault, but the slightest side touch set up a pinballing collision which sent several cars off track.
Simone gets a 15 kg penalty however for an unsafe track re-entry, driving back onto the track from a stationary position into the path of Joe.

:'( :'( :'(
Seein' as we did this track in these cars pre-season, I thought this might have been the perfect opportunity to use the wet version. :-X
A sudden storm, perhaps? ???
-
Hmmm yes we could have one race on each. I've never tried the wet version - but I know Bacchulum likes it.
OK, I've made race 1 a "wet" race, and switched the practice server over.
-
I'm not sure about such a late decision to add a wet race. Some people won't get time to practice with it. I just did about 30 mins on the practice server and didn't do more than 2 laps without spinning off.
-
Yeah, never ever done a single lap on a wet track.
-
From the author:
"Fake Wet layout is included for wet track placebo, don't be surprised that it is so slippery, 1"50 is a fast laptime at Goodwood when it is wet. Use alternative lines to get more grip, optimum lines has less grip."
See how you can adjust to the conditions. We did try low grip "wet" races in an earlier season. The second race will be a dry race.

dont doubt it would be fun with a bit more notice and practise but tomorrow I just see car flying everywhere and frustration
-
You saw the V8's on the Gold Coast on Sunday . . . it's a bit like that :o :o

Note for self...avoid the puddles, they slightly slippery ;D
-
yeah those puddles are extra slippy. I think my wet time wasnt too bad just couldn't string laps together. probably just need to go slower.
-
I was going to say something about the late incusion, but then I thought if come race day and the heavens open and you haven't turn a wet lap up till now. "Tough"! get on with it. :)

Would have been better to leave these funny things for the fun races instead of telling us a day before about this. No probs for the guys having thousands of hours on these sims, but for less experienced guys like me jumping on the server an hour before qualy it's maybe a bit frustrating. I guess you have to change your car set up as well.
-
I appreciate some people's frustration at the late change, sorry about that. But what appeals to me too is the test of people's adaptability. I see that as part of racing, adapting to what can be dramatically changed conditions. Accept it as a challenge. Remember, everyone's in the same boat.
Don't forget, race 2 will be dry.
PS, re the setup, typically I would soften it all up a bit. You don't want a tight, snappy car, but a soft, compliant one.
-
Will the practice session before the race tonight be on the wet track?

You mean everyone is in the same car, don't you? How wet is it gonna be? Now I'm getting really concerned...what apps are you guys running? ;-)
Well, at least I've got someone to blame if I don't win this series...haha

That's pretty much how racing works, 'practice' and 'setup' are luxuries, not mandatory.
Good to see someone else gets it. ;)

Yessir.

I've heard you're the wet race master from back in the day Bacchulum so what sort of time are you doing here wet? ::)
-
Can't tell you that until I get home from work, Joe. :-X

Am I not allowed to have my own opinion on this without being degraded as someone who doesn't get it? ;)
Good luck for the race mate!
-
Server's up.
-
I didn't even know you commented killa, until now that is, so I don't know how I specifically degraded you. ???
Loosen up.

I first saw the wet track last night and WOW, it was extreamly hard, but bloody awesome, can’t wait to have a crack under race conditions. The challenge for me is going to be the dry race as I’ve never done a lap I this car on tonight track in the dry, so it’s certainly going to be interesting. By the way, how long is the race?
-
I got nothin'
That did nothing but piss me off tonight
-
Well that's my drop round which is a shame after 3rd in the first race.
R1 started really well. No way I was going to try my qually pace as I wouldn't have lasted, so just tried to keep kcender is sight in case he fell off. About two thirds in I spun trying to get past a back marker which then had Bacchulum right behind me. Hit the wall in that final chicane and he was by. Started putting in some faster laps to try and close the gap but that resulted in me spinning off all my own but I had enough gap over brad to keep 3rd.
R2 not sure what happened at the start there. Three wide in turn 1. To me it seemed whoever was to the left of me came across and hit me, but hard to tell (will check the replay). After that I rejoined the track and got back up to speed but Simone pulled back into the track in front me of and I t-boned him wrecking the car. I went back to the pits and had a 50 second penalty and was just going to try and unlap myself but after being close up behind a few people I didn't want to ruin their race being a lap down so decided to call it a night.
EDIT: Had a quick look at the replay. I'll wait for the race stewards decision but I'd put that on Bacchulum ::)
-
wet was more fun than I thought would be, but had a shocker, threw away decent results both races
-
Results are up in the 1st post.
-
As for my races - the wet race was more fun than I thought it would be - sort of as intense as I remember wet races were in netKar. But on the opening lap I got a tap from behind from someone which sent me sailing across the wet grass, and by the time I was facing the right direction again, I was 2nd last and way back.
Race 2 was a really good chase of AbleArcher for the latter stages of the race. I could quite catch him, and he didn't make a mistake, so we were close together for a good number of laps.
I tried the team Maki setup tonight. I hadn't practiced in it, and it felt a bit understeery in the high speed corners, which nealry caught me out a few times early on when Freezer was chasing. But once I "learned" the setup, I actually managed a PB and came 7th which is my equal best result for the season (although that might be with a few front runners not having such a good result).
-
Race One: The wet race sucked big time (that's an understatement). Did not enjoy this one bit, the way the random puddles would grab the car and flick it one direction or the other saw me off track, steering damage, last and having no fun. Threw away a pile of points in what has to date been my best season.
Race Two: Now we are talking! Started last and with a combination of people spinning and some good passes I managed to get home 3rd. Chased team mate Mael for the final few laps but didn't have enough to make any moves. Team Maki 2nd and 3rd on the podium.
Bring on Spa . . . .
-
Q. Didn't even get a lap done (I tried), back of the grid.
R1. Better just stay out of trouble and keep it on track, which worked good enough to get up into 7th as everyone parted way for me. A minor slide late in the race handed Mael my position.
R2. Started 5th, trying to avoid the turn one mishap I went wide and got a tap on the rear which sent me into a tank slap, I then punted a car and we both spun. Near back of the pack again, I thought I'd use the same philosophy from the first race. Kept clean, lap times gradually improved with each lap until I made a small mistake and let Bacchulum through. Managed to get by Able when he took too much curb and slid off. Finished 5th.
The wet track was frustrating at first but had fun with the race, I tried it briefly yesterday in vr but shut that down straight away, I wasn't ready for that yet.
Good fun as usual thanks guys.
-
was a bit concerned about the wet race basically having to do a new setup on the car but managed to seek out the grip - karting wet lines everywhere and paying a lot of attention to grip coming and going made the race hella intense - high levels of concentration to not have big offs - for 'faking' the wet track its pretty damn good
race 2 was luck and luck only - would have been tight at the front but for the tangle in front of me on turn one - kept it together but took a good few laps to get used to having grip again lol
-
That did nothing but piss me off tonight
After the first few laps in the wet I thought the same. But as I concentrated on just making it to the end of the race I found that it started being fun, especially chasing Bueller. Got lucky on the second last lap with him gifting me the position ;D
Had a bit more hope for race 2 since I did a number of laps in practice. The leaders made a complete mess of the first lap leaving Keith and me in the podium positions. I was hoping Keith would just take it easy for a few laps since neither of us get many opportunities for podiums. But he pushed a bit too hard giving a passing opportunity and a podium as long as I stayed on the black stuff. Freezer showed some serious pace to catch me and Keith, made for a good battle until Keith sadly disconnected? Sorry for holding you up from there Freezer!
I also feel we all have to apologize to KCender, he must have been bored stiff during race 2 ;D
-
Race 1 !!!! One of the best race in a long time in terms of concentration and tactics,i really had fun and i have to say thats what happen when i put some practice into the game.Even if the wet race at Goodwood was a fake real time weather is going to be a real challenge and a key player in any sim.
Race 2 >:( >:( >:( well i really want to apology to joe, after the big mess i did look if anyone was coming but i honestly thought you were just recovering from the mess and i thought you were much slower than that,,,,sorry mate big mistake from me!!
Good fun!!!

Race 1: Too many restarts! Whilst the practice was great, when we finally got to the real and actual race start I forgot to select a gear and mine was a disaster, thanks to everyone who managed to get past me cleanly! Once the race was started I really enjoyed it. Whilst it was tricky to find grip I really enjoyed the slippery nature and got used to it quickly. I actually found myself steer in on the wheel and rotating the car from the apex on the throttle which was immensely enjoyable 8) I pushed really hard to get to 4th and it looked like I was starting to bridge the gap to 3rd when I started to feel comfortable and was looking at delta times and then promptly fell off the track when I was a potential 1m35 appear on the dash. A few laps later it was a similar mistake so in the end I just calmed down and settled to slid my way to 4th, which I think is a PB for me on a Tuesday night!
Race 2: Same gear issue on the start line, when we actually started (for real). I'm not sure if it's a dodgy shifter or a game bug but I found I couldn't select any gear until the 5 lights started to appear, at least this race I was in 1st the light went out....Another great start and 3 wide into turn 1 was epic! Actually leading a Tuesday night race was rather cool until I got to my boogie corner and then proceeded to understeer off into the weds on stone cold tyres. I appeared in 4th and was extremely close to Phil going into turn 1 when front to rear contact was made. I stuffed up! It appeared that I was carrying a lot more speed into the second part of the double apex corner where I was lifting and sliding, it looked like Phil was braking and I ran up the back of him ruining both our races - sorry once more! Rejoing down the back and eventually had a couple of good battles with Russ towards the end, but in eventually a race of if's, but's and maybe's but no result......
I really enjoyed the wet race so much more than the dry and would love more of this. Was it possibly the hardest online race I've done to date and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The wet race was so much fun I nearly purchased ACC

So far, the wet racing doesn't feel quite so hair raising, but then we do have proper wet tyres.

I enjoyed the wet.
I didn't enjoy being part of someone else's problem several times...in both races. Rage quit so I didn't swear and whine during the races.
