Title: Thursday Recruit Runs
Post by: Phil.8 on April 18, 2018, 10:17:16 PM
After this last race of the season in the Caterhams I am going to run fun runs for a few weeks with Kunos car and tracks with no password on the server to see if we can entice a few people to join us. I will kick any high pingers that warp.
First run will probably be the alfa gta Bruce liked, but after that run if anyone/everyone wants nominate  a combo of anything the following weeks that is kunos made let me know :)   I would even do non Kunos if its likely a lot of people would have the mods as I am trying this for recruiting

Once we have had a few fun runs we will need a new season :)  suggestions please, for a car mostly, I was thinking of asking everyone to nominate a track for the season.

Good idea Phil.

GT3s at Spa.
Kidding....

One of the best attended Tuesday seasons was actually the Kunos Ford Escort.

I find it interesting that there is other leagues out there ,that have been around for years running the same SIM and eventually die , but that is the members preference rather than join another league  :-\ :-\ :-\. Although I do like the fact that the standard of driving on Thursdays is VERY high with virtually no crash or crash through attitudes :) :).

But worth a try to get more people Phil :).

I had always hoped some more Tuesday people would join us, but from the last Tuesday numbers I think that is a vain hope :'(. Any ideas why Wally?

I think often it ultimately just comes down to the day of the week, or how many nights a week people can make time to race, and so on. There are also Thursday night folks who don't race on Tuesdays, for example.

We've had new drivers turn up occasionally in the past and not hang around. They tended to be people new to online racing and struggled a bit. It might help to allow driver aids? Stability control especially would help new drivers. It might even help level out the competition a bit?

Good thought Gratulin.

Alfa at KS Brands Hatch GP could be tempting Phil.

That's certainly happened on Tuesdays, where you get someone all keen and they race in one race only to discover they're way off the pace, so they don't come back. That's always going to happen to some degree. I don't know how much driver aids might help that lack of pace. It might be worth a try to allow TC and ABS even if the car doesn't normally allow it, where the experienced guys then wouldn't use it.

Multiple short races is also better for new drivers, nothing so disheartening than making a mistake on the first lap knowing you will not see another driver for the rest of the evening.
