Thursday Nights fun racing / Vale Dave-O
« on: December 12, 2023, 10:18:51 AM »
Hey guys, although I've been having a break from racing I try to keep up with the latest news. And I don't believe this has been posted before.

Those old enough to remember Dave-O (Dave O'Shea) will be saddened to learn that he passed away last July. I received a Christmas card from his family with a letter giving me the news. I remember racing with Dave and he was always the perfect gentleman and, like me, was happy just having fun toodling around at the rear of the field.

Unfortunately we've lost another one. RIP Dave.

Apps / WheelCheck, LUT Generator and FFBClip for impoved FFB
« on: August 30, 2019, 09:51:46 AM »
Hey Guys, after talking to Phil and Dave_O after Thursday's Fun Run I thought I would post this.

Although not strictly an AC App, WheelCheck works well with any wheel and combined with LUT Generator and FFBClip I now have my ageing old G25 feeling the best it ever has.

The attached links are a walk through for a G29 but most of the wheels available today are cover by WheelCheck, even some direct drive wheels are covered (I think).

Race Department Thread here:
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/lut-generator-for-ac.9740/

YouTube video here:

It looks a bit daunting and will take about 10 minutes but if a dinosaur like me can do it, anybody can. The effect is subtle but definitely worth the effort.

The only thing I can add is that I used Content Manager to do "Steps 7 and 8." If you go this route don't forget to save your Controller setup in CM otherwise AC will revert back to Gamma settings for the controller.

I also use FFBClip that prevents ...... umm, FFB clipping. This is just the icing on the cake to ensure that you lose none of that yummy FFB.

Hope this helps somebody
Cheers guys

p.s. If FFB feels too light around the centre, increase MIN_FORCE. I am undecided whether to leave it at 0 or increase it to about 10. At 10 I think it starts to mask some of the more subtle forces. YMMV.

Assetto Corsa Competizione / Off-Line Lap Times
« on: June 29, 2019, 08:54:42 PM »
Does anyone know where ACC stores Off-line lap times?

I'm in the process of trying each car at Nurburgring and it would be handy to know in which car I am faster (or less slower).

Thanks

Assetto Corsa / Help - AC has stopped working
« on: March 19, 2017, 08:31:47 PM »
Hey Guys,

I can't get past the Main Menu Screen.

When I try and start a Race (on or off-line) or a Hotlap Session, AC starts to load cars and track and then crashes back to the Main Menu. This  happens with default AC cars and tracks and Mod cars and tracks. I have Verified Steam Files, checked that the resolution is 1920x1080 etc. I can find nothing obvious.

I started checking the Logs files in  the \Documents Folder but I have no idea what I am looking for. I am not a computer wizard but not a total ludite either, so any advice of what "search" words I should be looking for would be really appreciated.

Thanks guys

Darn, second week in a row that I have had a Runtime error during the race. And I was having a great dice with Phil.8.

I hope it didn't cause a problem for anybody else.

Good fun while it lasted.

Guybrush,

Is this the problem you have been experiencing in AC?

You've probably seen the thread, but I thought I would post here just in case.

Mod Cars / Caterham Academy has been released.
« on: July 20, 2015, 03:00:04 PM »
Just a heads up guys that the Caterham 7 Mod has been released.

http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/caterham-academy-link-in-first-post-r300-cup-and-r500-on-their-way.13639/

I know what you are going to say "not another underpowered little road car" and you are probably right. But it is great fun to drive and as far as I can tell with pretty accurate physics. 125bhp and 575Kg make for a nice little package, and don't believe what some people are saying about too much grip, they really do feel like that.

Anyhoo, it won't please everyone, but who cares, it pleases me. lol.

Mod Cars / Broadspeed Jaguar XJ12c - "The Big Cat"
« on: February 13, 2015, 05:48:39 PM »
For all you guys who liked GTL and P&G etc. it might be worth checking out the old Jag.

Big load of bouncy metal with a V12. Just the trick for us slow witted reflexed, more mature drivers.

Apps / FFB Clipping App
« on: September 05, 2014, 10:11:54 AM »
Hey Guys, i know we already have a FFB indicator in the Pedal App, and FFB is a very personal thing, but this little tool is pretty cool.

http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/force-feedback-anti-clipping-tool.14165/

Basically, set FFB in Control Panel AND Car Setup Tab to 100 and drive 3 or 4 CLEAN laps (about 5 minutes) and this App will tell you your optimal FFB Setting. Hitting too many curbs and off-course excursions will skew the results. Then just go back to your SETUP tab and adjust as per recommendation and Bob's your uncle.

Its surprising how much better the FFB feels when adjusted properly to reduce clipping.

Hope this helps somebody,

Racing general / RSR Live Timing for Assetto Corsa
« on: December 13, 2013, 08:32:19 AM »
Hey Guys, just a heads up that RSR has released its latest Live Timing App for Assetto Corsa.

If you like chasing the next fastest guy on the RSR rank, this App shows WR and your position and time compared to next fastest and next slowest drivers. It just makes hot lapping a little bit more interesting.
