I don't think the TS server needs a password at all...it's up and running right now, btw.

You can just blip or shift at lower revs. Greger Huttu was driving a Logitech DFP (driving force pro, really old ancestor of the DFGT) up to a couple of years ago. And if you don't know who Greger is, just look at the world records of any sim - or simply research "alien sim racer" I'm not saying it's wrong to update; it's great. But if you're good, you'll be good with nearly anything, as long as the equipment does what it needs to do, nothing fancy is required. But a lot of practice is necessary 1985
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Season 1 Race 1 chat« on: June 12, 2014, 09:11:44 AM ».... I don't think we've answered this at all. You can only get smooth replay for the car that the replay is made from. The rest will be recorded with their lag included (since it's recorded on client side, you can't help this). So for educational purposes you really need to acquire the replay for the car you want to study. 1986

Turn off the stupid HDR, Simone, that'll solve your glare issue.

Yeah it's very early to say, but it seems to me the performance has dropped a bit with the last update.
I used to run at around 100-120 fps, with drops to 80 or so. Now it went down to 50 and I had to reduce the faces per frame setting to 1 to claw back to 80-ish with drops to 60. Could be that they borked up the SLI again, LOL. Here's what I'm running: ASUS p8z77-V Deluxe, Intel i5-3570k, Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB, Sound Blaster recon3D 2x GXT670 (Gigabyte), 3x24" Dell @ 5760x1200 SilverStone Fortress FT02B-W, Antec 850W Signature 1988

Boy oh boy...I've updated my wheel firmware, installed new drivers, and installed my H-shifter (I really wanted to see how much fun it is!) I had to calibrate it, but now it works.
It's not fun as of yet . I'm struggling to keep the car straight, mis-shifting all the time, crunching gears... so hats off to anyone who can do it. Mind you, I used to drive manuals back in Europe on the right side, where the shifter is in the other hand! I prolly should install it on the right to get anywhere with it, hehe. But in any case, it'd be very interesting racing if every one of us had one, and used it...I reckon the results would be very different! 1989

I'm pretty sure Darren will use the Group A all season...by definition of being in the top half on the results (and it's the overall results if I'm correct)

I think overtaking is going to be a biatch until we get drafting. 1991

Marty if you don't bag next week it can only be due to technical issues...
Great racing chaps, I'm really enjoying it - and the company too! When I saw Guybrush sitting there like a dead duck I was really torn between an evil laugh while driving by, and helping, but helping won out in the end somehow... could be the stupid mistake that'll cost me later 1992

West coast is usually the better. Try to ping ysumail.com, it's in a very decent data center with servInt in LA. Get rid of track maps They are highly detrimental IMHO.
You can learn a regular track layout in about an hour or less - but with the map it takes longer, and you won't watch the more important things. Eventually you need to know the corners without seeing them (when someone in front blocks your view!) Concentrate on the surrounds, drive the first few laps really slow (as you'd normally do) watch the trackside marks (most corners have those 300-200-100-50 signs) and watch the track surface for marks: most cars you can pull up safely if you start 10-20m before the start of the tyre marks. I think it's much more productive this way. Then once you know the track fairly well (you can drive it in your mind - which is also a good exercise) then look at the track map, and identify if your feeling for a corner matches the map. Sometimes I can work out why a corner seems slower than it is by the map. And watch other people's driving (real/sim) the track for tricks. But I reckon these exercises are really only helpful after you've learned the track layout (the initial one hour session). Disclaimer: this won't work in an hour at Nordschleife Edit: oh, one more very good exercise can be - even early on - is to follow someone who knows the track well. Ask them to drive relatively slow, and follow them. In 5 laps you'll learn a lot. And I mean a lot. We've done this sort of thing all the time, and it always works best for quickly learning tracks. I'm happy to do this with you if you like, I know pretty much all the track layouts by now But we need to organise an official practice night - thursday to sunday somewhere, probably. |
