nice pics Phil, like the enticing entrance shot.
How was the wet track? will they end up qualifing in rain and maybe starting dry on race day?

I hope we get a sprinkle of rain for qual as it will give Ricciardo a better chance.  I'd say the same for the race, but the forecast is a sunny day.  Practice 3 today should be full of action if it's dry.

Gee the V8 race last night was a cracker!  Go Gisy! :)

Are you at the track Guy?
You should find the CAMS F4 stand, they have a simulator hotlap comp on. ;)

Not much changed from last year by the looks (except qually). Mercedes first, daylight second........RedBull may regret their dummy spit over getting a competitive engine.

Qualy is pretty crappy, way less laps run by all cars then in last years format. Main thing they should change ASAP is to allow the drivers to complete a lap they have started. Q3 would also be better off left as it was with no elimination as it will just be a 1 lap shootout pretty much as is with harldy anyone likely to bother with a 2nd lap. Only the cars in the top 4 really have time for a second lap and thats at a track with a fairly short lap the longer tracks will be even worse.

And take into consideration, there are a heap of tracks the SS tyres won't last more than a lap. Going to make the new format a little interesting. Agree though, Qually 3 should be the old format.

Q3 could be savaged by giving them two sets of the softest compounds to be used only in Q3 (as opposed to one only as is now), but in any case the old school system seems so much better.... But I agree that Q1 might become really crazy at tracks where softer compounds do not allow for two laps (traffic was quite crazy).

As for the state of the competition: at parity of track grip, in Q3 the Mercedes-Ferrari gap was in the order of .5 of a sec. It is a lot, but it is much less than last year (1.4) and Melbourne is quite a traction and engine track. So it might be a bit less bad than it looked live. On the other hand, what seems worrying is the consistent 1 second gap in Q2. That sounds like Ferrari's engines can't afford to push all-in for more than 1 lap a day (Toro Rosso with the 2015 spec engine could keep up until Q3 started) while Mercedes's magic button can now be kept on for the whole Saturday. If this is reflected on race pace, then we are heading for a pretty boring championship, as Roseberg seems more confused than ever (3 big mistakes in 2 days and... what? 40 laps? I personally like the guy, but that is not really world champion level driving)

Have to agree. Pictures of drivers like Vettel (who was in 2nd at the time) walking away from Q3 while still more than 4 minutes to go is not a good look.

And, drivers were being eliminated sitting in the pits. What a joke.
