RC
« on: February 24, 2022, 09:00:19 AM »
I got into RC recently after getting a Traxxas Slash for my birthday in January. Since then I bought a TRX-4 Sport crawler which I bought as a kit and built myself. Some local guys race RC F1 cars nearby so I went down at the weekend to scope it out and one of the guys let me drive their car for a bit. Was so awesome I came home and ordered everything to make my own  ;D Reminded me a bit of starting sim racing and trying not to be lapped because the F1 cars are something different and require a lot of practise.

Here's some pics of the TRX-4 build. RC cars have come a long way since I was a kid!

That's a whole new world to get into! When I've been searching for setup info on the web, I sometimes come across great long RC setup discussions, so it's a deep rabbit hole you can get into.

Yeah the F1 chassis I got has so many things you can adjust for setup it seems daunting. Should be fun though!

Haha that's my plan to start with! See how the car feels and go from there. Found it hard enough just staying on the track initially. Much different to drive than my offroad slash which you can pretty much full throttle and drift around everywhere.

Heh, I just bought one for my daughter last year, a HSP Mongoose, this one.

It is quite affordable and crazy fast, not to mention you can roam a football field (or rather: two) with the range on the remote.    Does wheelies and doughnuts quite well. ;)

It's hardly a toy, more like a small weapon. :D

And every part can be replaced, or even upgraded.

Haha you're next Bird! That's how it started for me; bought my son one for xmas then after I kept asking for a go he told me I should get my own so I got a Traxxas Slash and it's spiralled from there. I've upgraded so many parts on the Slash I almost have enough to make a second one.

I built the F1 over the weekend just need the rain to stop so I can actually give it a run! I used the same paint I had for the crawlier but think it needs some decals to look more F1.
