Well, seems like fuel was our major Achilles Heel tonight.  Maybe next season we can race solar cars Wally???

Was a good round.  Well done to everyone, but especially Darren, YSU, Glen and TKO Racing.  YSU was very kind in pushing me over the line when I ran out of fuel and sacrificed a few positions to help the walking wounded!  :D

Look forward to the next round.

I think everyone is honest enough to keep tyre wear on aren't they?

On another note, I'm having an issue when I enter a server I seem to be dropping frames compared to SP.  I've reduced a few settings but there is still an issue.

The strange thing is that I have a 60Hz monitor so 60 FPS should be the max I see, but when my AC frame rate app drops from 100 to 70 the game seems to chug a lot and this only happens online.  Just wondering whether it could be some v-sync setting, or frame-rate limiter or something?

I will be happy to just stay between the fences.  ;D

I have been racing the M3 E30 quite a bit and can catch its back end more often than not. Love Imola but still am 10seconds off the pace.
I know I need to improve on the back of Imola.
How do you pros drive the E30 through Acque Minerali? Sideways?
Coming into the 1st Rivazza can un-stick me too but it's sweet to get sideways though there. Where do you guy break?

Well, I'm not a pro, but as soon as you start to slide going through the second right you are giving away a ton of speed on the following run to the chicane.  So tame that rear end Ko.

The way I tackle it is to take just a fraction of curb going into the first right and than brake early toward the outside of the track so you can turn in, hit the inside curb and start to power on just as you get to that apex.  So pretty much what Wally said.  They key is not to brake too heavily between the 1st and 2nd right as you are still turning and will upset the car, so better to brake early than late for it.

This is great Wally, exactly what we need.  I was on earlier with Flatop and Marty and all seemed good.

I will definitely be practicing on the server from now on.  I just wish you could set the delta time app to compare against your absolute best lap instead of the session best.

I don't think there's tyre wear in hotlap mode, maybe this makes a difference.

There is but I think you can turn it off.

I did a bunch of laps on the softs in hotlap mode and was not getting anywhere near the grip of when i started the stint.

Hi!

Dick Forrest is a fictional character. He was Cock Forrest (pronounced Koe For-ray) a long time ago.

I'm a 43 year old kid. Looking at me you'd say, "geez, look at that biker".. Maybe it's the beard, the leather, the tattoos and the bike that gives that impression. Really, I'm very approachable and a gentle guy. although shy to start with and always looking for a laugh to be had.

So, my advice is never take Dick Forrest seriously!

I'm liking Koe Forray - the tough biker who is fluent in french, enjoys sim racing, the perfect Latte and runs a nail salon.  Actually, your name isn't alluding to some sort of battle between hair growth vs. man-scapeing? Could make for an interesting paint scheme ;)

It would be good just to somehow have a practice server where we could all go to do some laps and talk about the meaning of life, etc.

News / Re: Gaming SSD Myths, what you should know....

Good test and write-up.  Thanks.

I'm not sure how many people are under the impression that an SSD will make actual gaming performance better?  Perhaps if there is a lack of RAM?

I upgraded to an SSD purely because of the decrease in loading times.  In games like Rise of Flight they can take a number of minutes to load on a HDD, but with an SSD this is cut down to around 15 to 20 seconds.  This alone makes an SSD a must for someone like me who plays sims and hates waiting :)

Edit: Guybrush and Marty, they look odds on now unless Freezer gets his wish and obducted by Darren.....
Yes, good to see some balanced teams  :P Should be fun.

I think you guys will have me covered in these cars.  I'm not so good with them, struggling to get it under 2:00 atm.  Marty seems to be quick though.

I'll give Marty's a try.
I just made some tweaks to Bird's setup - adjusted front and rear toe, gearing and springs.  Seems to go over the curbs a little better but easily bogs down at the rear mid-corner if pushing too much.

Very frustrating at the moment.  Hard to put together 3 good sectors, my combined PB is 4 tenths quicker than my actual.

Ok, thanks Bird.  At least I don't have to worry about practicing in 2 different cars for this track then :)

Are people expecting to qualify going within the white lines the whole time?  I know the rules say you have to but there seems to be a couple of spots around Imola that can get you a bit more time if you get on the astro.

And sorry Wally, just to clarify, the cars are definitely switched between rounds (for those moving to DTM) and not between races at the same track?

Bird's setup just took 1.5 seconds off my PB within 5 laps!  Feels almost perfect for me.  Might fiddle with the brake bias a little but other than that it feels spot-on.  Thanks Bird.
