Title: Fun run 2/7 - Nurburgring sprints
Post by: Wally on June 26, 2019, 08:09:28 PM
Here is the first inter-season ACC fun run. This will be a bit of an experiment all round - how to admin, how does the tiny server cope, etc.

The race format is a race weekend at Nurburgring with a P, Q1 and 25 min race on Saturday, and then Q2 and another 25 min race on Sunday. The first race should be clear and sunny in the middle of the day; the second race will start just before sunset and proceed into the night.

The way the weather works, it is random (controlled by some parameters I set). So I can't say for sure that it won't rain, but I have made it unlikely to rain.

You can join with any car (I think the Lexus and the newer Bentley are the easiest, and the Porsche is the hardest). There are no compulsory pit stops. The usual password applies.

Make sure you know, at a minimum:
How to join the server
Click the Multiplayer tile, then click on Server List. Then search for xgnacc, enter the password, and connect.

The server is up already in this configuration (minus password for now).

Some handy hints:

If you have triple screens and want to move the visible apps just off the main screen, onto the edge of the secondary monitors, edit your Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\Config\hud.json file and change:

    "safezoneLeft": 1350,
    "safezoneTop": 20,
    "safezoneRight": 1350,
    "safezoneBottom": 0,

Also, optimal hot tyre pressure for dry tyres is 28 PSI, for wets it's 30 PSI.

I have just spent from 10 am until now trying to assign buttons, I have uninstalled the game and re downloaded and also deleted all folders in documents and the folders in user/local called AC2 but they keep going back to random whatever the game prefers, the game doesn't even change them to the same each time, its random :(   Any Ideas ?

Also how do you setup the Panini thing properly, its looks pretty bad , very low quality blurry

Thanks

Also, And I am really trying to be positive and show no negativity, but the roll cages don't line up across the monitors with or without the correct FOV and no matter what I change you cant see the dash with the correct FOV,  only can see it if sitting in the back seat, I don't get the panini thing at all, it juts squashes everything up and makes centre screen blurry, but still leaves the game with unable to see dash and with roll cages not lining up

Are you talking about the distortion fix thing? The more you make it fix the distortion the worse the graphics quality gets and nothing you can do about it. You either get stretched or terrible graphics. For me I still wouldn't run this game on triples and will try and join in VR

Fair enough,  I wont play with a single and don't have VR so will give it a miss I think

I will give it one more go later to see how it looks after a break.

Does anyone know what is the correct cockpit view, when you cycle through the views you go past 2 outside car views then come to the first onboard view, is that the correct one ? or is it the second or third , who knows, I cant find where it says what the views are anywhere

and is there anyway to move just the gear shift app to the bottom centre on the centre monitor ?

Thanks

all my apps are already off the middle screen which is annoying for the revs and shift app

You can't move the apps other than the offsets from the edges that I posted. I don't understand the cockpit view question. I just press F1 and it goes into cockpit view. I'm not sure what's happening with your button assignments. I just set them once, and that was that. I just adjusted the usual distance and height and tilt of the eye viewpoint so that I can see enough of the dash. I really didn't find it that hard :)

I don't find it hard either, I cant help that buttons don't save with a fanatec wheel, which according to google others have had the same issue which has turned out to be anti virus or windows defender, neither which is causing it for me because I tried disabling both, very frustrating when trying to play a game for like 5 hours and still have not done a lap,
But I am not here to argue about any of that all I was asking is for some guidance.   I am trying to give it a decent go.

By the cockpit view I mean that when you cycle through them it does not tell you what they are , what I call the third one must be helmet cam and the last 2 are outside view,  which of the first 2 is the realistic cockpit view similar to like AC ?  The reason I want to know is because when you adjust it both different cockpit views give a big difference is perspective when you go to drive, even though they look similar when adjusting

Edit
after lots of googling I have discovered unlike most games that override a button input, this does not for everyone for some reason, even though on screen it shows the new button it will not save it until you clear the old button first then select the new button you want

These are my view settings (in the Lexus):

And it looks like this:

For cockpit view, this is the only camera that looks like this for me. Just like AC, you get that other cockpit view which is too close to the dash and which you can't adjust, then you get helmet cam, then bonnet cam, bumper cam and a couple of external cams.

Graphics good, AC now makes my eyes bleed
steering feels weird near centre, but over all pretty good but only tried Ferrari so probably just that
Brakes feel better than AC
weather and time transitions pretty cool
seems a bit buggy with settings  (see posts further up)
its just a shame about the stretched side monitors

Does anyone know what this means?

The UE-AC2 Game has crashed and will close
Fatal error file unknown line 92
Secure CRT invalid parameter detected
Expression unknown function unknown file unknown line 0

I get this message and then crash
I've Steam validated the files, all were good. ???
As it stands, ACC won't open. :'(

Thanks for that Wally, certainly got it in the ballpark for me. Now just to decide whether cockpit view or helmet cam.

No sorry, I've never seen that. Searching on the ACC forums, some people have had success by turning off antivirus or whitelisting ACC.

Someone else said "I have fixed this issue, in your C:\Users\randt\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved\Config folder delete the "WindowsNoEditor" folder [and the one in your documents folder as well], then restart the game.. This seems to force the game back to defaults, no more crash"

My folder structures are completely different to that.
I don't know what 'randt' is, but in 'users' I have no folder named AppData.
Also, in my Documents there is no WindowsNoEditor folder.
Possibly a Win10 only solution?

To see the AppData folder, you have to show hidden files in Windows. Here are some Win7 instructions: https://www.solveyourtech.com/how-to-find-the-appdata-folder-in-windows-7/

Shit.
Bad to worse.
Did something wrong, and instead of un-hiding files/folders I ended up hiding the whole Users folder.
No idea how to undo this (as there's no folder to click on to change properties). :-[

OK, fixed my f@*k up, found the "WindowsNoEditor" folder and deleted it.
Deleted the whole ACC folder in My Documents.
Still get the error message.
I can't turn off Bitdefender anti-virus, even using task manager it says request denied.

Looks like I paid for early access only, as the final version just doesn't work.

And worse it gets.
I don't know how showing hidden folders/ hiding folders can change permissions, but neither Content Manager nor Steam have access to race.ini in AC, so I can't play that either. :'(

I would have likes to have ago at this however I have a prior commitment (made by someone else :) ).

Hope you are able to sort out all the little issues and have some good racing.  Remember, every sim had issues to start...

Keen too but won't be able race until the following Tuesday.
I've had to reinstall both ac and acc in the past because of similar issues. Also had to reinstall drivers after windows updates, there's a new fanatec beta 336 for the new f1 wheels and new podium paddles, it updated the motor firmware for the wheel base as well.

Uninstall ACC

Delete the following folders if extant.

'Disc with Steam on it':\Steam\steamapps\common\Assetto Corsa Competizione

'System Disc':\Users\'your user name'\AppData\Local\AC2

'System Disc':\Users\'your user name'\Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione

Reboot

Reinstall  ACC

Pray to the Invisible Pink Unicorn
The Invisible Pink Unicorn is a false God. >:(
Did all that but I still have the error message. :'(

what version is your game updated to ?
if its still less than 1.0.1 try this I found on steam forums
"Go to steam and enable beta for ACC. Then download latest public beta files. When all is downloaded it should say Assetto Corsa Competizione 1.0.1. (Or Higher) No fatal error anymore, but i still have occasional hicups, probably when ppl join server. "

Does anyone know or any graphic settings that improves night time fps with the lights on? or a decent balance of setting which still keeps the game looking good,  during the day I was getting 80 - 90 fps with everything on epic apart from post processing which I turned to medium or something like that and in the dark with headlights was getting down to low 50s

Did you try turning Volumetric Fog to Low? The Volumetric Fog gives a big glow effect under lights, which can hurt FPS.

yep, I turned that down when you said, it gained a few fps
