With the celebration of the Mustang's release 50 years ago... (pitty there weren't any Barracudas in Historics!), you can't leave out the cousins of similar age when it is party time so to celebrate belatedly Cortina's 50th due 2013...

Cars available:
Mustang ('66 A3)
Cortina (All)
Falcon Sprint ('65 GTTC A3) # 5,7,50 & 74

Round 1 April 17th
Round 2 April 24th
Round 3 May 01st
Round 4 May 8th

This will give us a bye between the Mercedes Season and this season... time to download the tracks and get settled and to have a breather.

NOW...

Having tested all the available cars on 3 tracks, the above list being the lower powered V8s, the 3 cars are balance each other and are competitive with in a second.

Love your work flatty :)

Now i'll have to go see how the new cars drive.... I do have a soft spot for the old Sprint, i have fond memories of throwing that thing at McPhillamy Park a few years ago.... Sideways, the only way to travel  ;D

Hi Bruce,

can you clerify the car choices please?

The only 66 A3 Mustang is the Shelby, is this correct, or is it the 65 A3 Mustang?

Are the Lotus cortinas available or just the standard Ford ones?

I took the Sprint for a cruise this evening, i got motion sickness from all the body roll and floating!!!

Excellent saved from those bloody cortinas by the falc!
the gear box noise and lack of v8 Rumble is my only negative, I've probably had more success in the cortina.
If it is the least selected I'll be driving one :)
I'M honing to drive which ever is least wanted.

I have never raced these tracks vandem, they are fitting for the Mustang, not necessarily "ideal" for the Mustang but fitting :)
A mix of fast and twisty, should allow for close racing of the mixed cars.

Fyi - I won't be quick.  Don't have time to practice between race nights, but did some off-laps at Lime Rock last week and enjoyed the Mustang.   In multi-car leagues I've normally picked a smaller engine car (Alfa, Escort), and avoided the lumbering V8s, but was pleasantly surprised by the Mustang, was more nimble than I expected.

Small fields don't worry me, still love the HistorX mod.

Ok cool, always happy to share my set, one other thing is I think the biggest thing you can do is reduce your steering rotation which I think everyone has done.

Only two things I would like to do to the Stang, one, make it brake and two, get the power down.

Well I don't think much chassis set up is going to make the big cars competitive for this round. Can do a 45 but hopefully will get onto a 44 soon. I think the Cortina will be around 41-42's. I cant get into 3rd gear  :(

Jumping on tonight if anyone is up for it  ;D

For anyone having a go at there own set up, springs and dampers first (most important imo), get the car balanced, then anti roll bars then toe/camber and finally diff (power/coast) and brake bias. You see, not that much to it  :o or just use the sliders  8)

Actually that's all my opinion and the order I have placed them in is most important to least and biggest effect to fine tuning. IE not a lot of point playing with toe if you car is a pig to drive as a bit of toe won't fix that!

It could be a discussion on how people go about setting a car up as I like to hear other people's way of going about there business.

Mustang has to much torque, what did the Mustang boys know that the Sprint guys didnt?? same motor....

Down to a 43 in the sprint and a low 44 in the Stang. I feel the sprint is the middle car performance wise.

Server set to Pacific Raceway...
Times have been increased to 15 and 25 minute races, with improved tracks and setups being available, the racing should be easier on an individual basis.

Looking fore a "fun run short sprint model for after race 2..."
