Title: Hardware/Logitech/G920 for PC Warning. Not PC Compatible.
Post by: Bruce on April 06, 2016, 10:30:55 AM
I had the chance to grab a very cheap Logitech G920, lucky it was cheap and the money was burning a hole in my pocket!
The device is not recogised by Windows!
Logitech responded to the first report of a failure, with the normal steps, ie check power, connections etc
then as the hundreds of others also requested support, Logitech stopped responding.

A "positive" for it, "It works well on XBOX."

I believe from the complaints/support/forums it is all G920s!  They have an adapter from XBOX connector to USB... but didn't back it up with drivers. In a lot of occasions, as with my experience, the device is not regonised by the OS.

Ok, that's not good. Sorry to hear that.  Maybe you can take it back quickly?

Some old logi wheels (dfp) had/needed some extra driver, too.  One that was developed by logitech devs, but not officially.  Go figure.  But at least it was available.

they provide an update driver for the wheel for PC, but of course, can't update with out it being recognised...
I will ring them today, they had a policy of "no returns" due to the price, but I may argue, not fit for purpose., if not evilbay it!

They can't have a policy of no returns, this is Australia, consumer laws exist.  If it's not fit for purpose, as you say, it's a valid reason for a return, and it's not up to them to decide it.  Small courts will give it to you if you care to go after it.

Mine 920 works with PC. It came with my MSI laptop. Works fine, but the brake pedal it too stiff with such a short range of motion I bought a t500rs instead.

Sin, I would probably like to do the same, it's even after getting my money back I'm a little shy of the $1000 :)
No matter how I tried, with new drivers, rollback to old drivers and then forward again, my OS would not recognise the wheel, fortunately I was able to sell it on with out loss...
I will keep an eye on the secondhand market for at500rs, never know one's luck :)

Weird, Could it have been a USB compliance issue? I didn't do anything out of the ordinary when I used the 920. I bought it because I am a forza ho and wanted something I could use on my pc and xbox. That said, I never tried it on the xbox first, only PC. I wonder if there was a glitch where it was stuck in xbox compatibility mode? You know how when you plug an xbone controller in to your pc then back in to the xbox it changes profiles, of sorts?

You're not in Bris are you bud?

Bruce, as much as I hate fanatec support, their wheel & pedals are pretty good.
Although the clutch is spiking so I have given it a healthy deadzone, the rest is still good.
Have you considered it at all?

Actually; scrap that.  It seems the gt3 wheel is gone, you can only buy base+wheel combos for exorbitant prices.  Fuck that.
