Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Round 3: Mugello Race Chat« on: August 11, 2014, 05:16:20 PM »I think I'm using 14/11 downforce on hard tyres. Thanks Wally, thats sounds better. I was doing 49s on my own pc, then stangely dropped 1.5s on the server to get into the mid 1.47s. More setup work needed I think...!So what is a realistic time on this track. I'm seeing 1.44 -45s on RSR and thinking my handbrake must be stuck on.....My race trim PB is 46.1, for reference. 9993

I'm just thinking of safety. The bump I felt here wasn't as drastic as the Imola ones. There, your car could be sent into a spin. That didn't happen here. But still... If the bottoming out doesn't get you, a kerb will. It should be a pretty intense race.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Round 3: Mugello Race Chat« on: August 11, 2014, 01:32:10 PM »If you run the line as in the video I posted there wont be a kick there. Its only if running a bit of a high line I got a few kicks. Guybrush was mentioning hitting a bump on the last turn a few times but on my line there I have not hit it yet so not sure exactly where that bump is.Not really. I think I might have set my PB with the higher ride height. I haven't really noticed much handling difference with a higher ride height - other than not getting a kick in the pants from the track when you bottom out! 9996

I did get a big bottoming out kick between 9 and 10 one time. I raised the height just to be safe.

Nice one. Yeah, there are ways of simulating ballast, but I'd prefer something that can be enforced on the server.

Assetto Corsa / Re: Assetto Corsa at XGN« on: August 10, 2014, 02:53:37 PM »Wally, Hi Jacka and welcome to XGN. Thanks for your GUID. At this stage, the Tuesday night grids are full, but I'll put you down on the reserve list. Keep an eye on your PMs/emails as I'll let you know if a grid spot is available. A spot comes up more often than you'd think, with people not being able to make it for various reasons. We also have some informal fun races on Thursday nights. I'll also PM you the server passwords, which will get you into the Practice and Fun servers. In the meantime, make sure you read the rules section of the first post here: http://www.xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=402.msg4729 10000

Far out Guybrush, I've just seen on RSR rank that you're #6 in the world! Well done.

But it doesn't seem to gel with the actual time display. E.g. the time delta (to my PB) might be showing "-0.25" in red all the way, but that little light still flickers red and green.

Very nice.
Why does the little "switch delta mode" button flicker between green and red when I'm showing delta to PB, even if I'm slower than my PB? Is that the delta to my session best? 10005

Another detailed corner analysis
This is zoomed in on turn 12, from entry to exit. Guy is green, I'm red. Guy is on full throttle for about 25m more than me on entry. Then he is completely off the throttle (apart from engine blipping on downshifts) for only a short distance on entry (up to 3560m on the chart), which is only still just starting the turn in, while I'm holding about 30% throttle. I'm still coming off the throttle at 3560m, when Guy's already putting it back on. Then from about 1/4 of the way into the corner, he's holding the throttle at 85% to the apex, then he's back on it fully, while I'm still dithering about with the throttle. I'm only back on full throttle about 3/4 into the turn, while Guy's been on it since the apex. Because I'm holding a bit of speed into the corner, I'm faster than Guy 1/4 through the turn, but from just before the apex, he's already going faster. I'm also understeering because of my 1/4 corner speed. I end up having to turn the wheel twice as much as Guy at the apex (see the STEERANGLE plot). Guy enters the corner going 2 kph faster than me, and leaves it going 6 kph faster than me. I've lost 0.3 secs in that one corner. So I should try to come full off throttle on corner entry, start to pick it up pretty high from 1/4 to apex, and then floor it. In other words, slow in, fast out. |
