Maybe try some of the historic Ferraris coming, if people are going to leap in and get the DLC? Not everyone will though, probably.
-
I thought the DLC was coming at the end of the month?

I will be away next Thursday as well Phil, going to Brisbane on Wednesday and fly to Tassie on Thursday.
Do you want to try Seanus's Humpy mod ?

Ah cool :)

Server is up
-
If we use the Humpy mod better restrict the races to 2 laps max, otherwise we will be there all night to do an 8 lap race ;) :)

ok

;D Holden FX Special (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6YBokXY5o8QTGE5aWV6M2FzOTg) Chev powered with upgraded suspension and decent tyres.
:D Holden Sports Sedan (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6YBokXY5o8QVzFZMWpxUGU2N00) V10 powered and aero equipped fibreglass silhouette.
-
a V10 FJ sounds a handful :)
-
server is updated with all 3 versions for testing
-
I have done some AI testing:
The FX Standard driven by an "Old Man" or "Old Woman" Seanus's choice of driver name not mine ;D ;D ;D takes about 1m45s per lap.
The FX Special driven by Koos Larsen about 1m7s per lap.
The FX V10 Sports driven by a "Young Rocker" about 59 seconds per lap.
A brilliant job by Seanus (FX V10 is a beast to drive but very enjoyable with a great sound and looks to match) and we also have built in handicapping and we all know which car Phil will be in ;).
I love your sense of humour Seanus :) :) :)

It's great mod, I feel like I'm 18 and driving a stocky around, are the power, the cornering!
The car repo is fantastic, (the interior colour a little hsrsh), 2nd to 3rd is wide as it should be.

Is your car all ready for its boat ride Bruce ?

Is your car all ready for its boat ride Bruce ?
Good question and timing Phil...
I have gone down hill rapidly, and in fact writing this from hospital.
The old boy, the humpy that is! is finished and ready to drive on after an oil and filter change, not by me any more, but unfortunately I'm not.
So disappointedly the whole adventure is off.
But other goals have been achieved.
Even if I am discharded tommorrow, being in poor health, Tasmania is too far away from my oncology doctor and hospital.
One of the highlights was to meet yourself and Denis, i am very disappinted from that aspect too.
So from my perspective it would have fool hardy, i couldn't drive on the track, fact i can't drive at all due pain relief drugs, and unfair on my family if i have another turn while there,or even the stress of anticipation.
I would have trouble driving Baskerville at present let alone in a fast humpy. My mates who have finished it off and run it in have complimented on the mechanical rebuild, to qoute "s@#$ Bruce did this go this fast before!!!", So that made me happy.
Corvette season hurry up? Well Corvette for me :)

-
All the best Bruce. We are all wishing you the best chances of recovery I'm sure.
-
"s@#$ Bruce did this go this fast before!!!", So that made me happy
That would have given you a real buzz Bruce, when you are in the process of hotting up a motor, you are questioning yourself the whole time " I wonder how much difference this change will make? " :) :) :)
-
I was looking forward as well Bruce, but it is more important that you are near doctors and loved one :) Like Wally said we are all wishing you the best
-
Hey Bruce, it's important to look after yourself right now, the humpy will be waiting for you when you're feeling up to it. I'm sure you will get a chance to try her out for yourself soon enough.
Praying for you mate.

He has has expired fj race cars as a young bloke and still a top hit rod builder painter has driven some cars, yep "stroked my ego" hehe
It hadn't had any.major work in 15 years other than normal servicing and had some hard work especially at hill climbs ( and dare I say it... Towing Caravan, man it was tough getting if the line even on the flat!!)
It had only started to take the protective white cover film off the bigend bearings, and the bore and ring lands didn't need any work.
So same bearing sizes in, rings were now off catalogue, so 2 sets $60! Can't resist a bargain and ready for next rebuild :D ).
But my machinist mate said "let's take a little more off here this time. Ohhhh and gee these new exhaust valves have machined up well..."
Plus to be more awkward went side draft Weber( well now Dellohrto).
Very pleased I started and finished all the mechanical early got 90% done, that would have been a personal disappoint.
At least we have no control over the health issue. :)

Everyone is thinking of you here at XGN mate. Everytime we run an old (I mean CLASSIC) car some one says it is easier or more difficult or same as the COBRA!!
-

XGN Bruce indeed.
You're a freakin champion, and a dedicated one at that :)

"Cobra, the whole Cobra and nothing but the Cobra!"
Haha we got a of fun out that mod and it helped focus Thursday's mission.

Thankyou Rob for caring.
Yes the goal will still achieved, just at a different time/ place I'm determined.

Well, the original and sports sedan have a one minute per lap difference, and on such a small track, I don't think they should be out there at the same time.
I'd prefer the original but I'll let Phil decide.
-
I have not tested yet, i was personally thinking the slowest version
-
So long as it has enough power to make it into top gear!!!
-
Yeah, I was thinking the stock version. The 'Special' is a quick mock up of an improved version and the 'Sports Sedan' is just me having a laugh.
Although we could run three quick turnover 15-20min sprints (random grid) using each car.
-
that be fun having 3 races, i just test drove 2 of them, the special goes alright
-
So long as it has enough power to make it into top gear!!!
Not only top gear, but it reaches top speed!!! 8)
(122kph) ;D

Impressive list of entries for the Early Holden cars Bruce. I had completely forgotton about these two head modifications for the Grey Motor until I saw this today.
Baskerville Historics 2017....Yes 2017....Early Holdens + Grey Eng Sports / Racing
Early Holdens will be the feature make at this meeting Plus Grey Engined Sports and Racing Cars
We are expecting 35-40 Early Sedans and 15-20 Grey Eng Racing and Sports
Also expect a Waggott Twin Cam Grey Engined FX to compete along with some Repco X Flow Engined vehicles
The Centaur Waggott 62 Australian Sports Car Championship car has also been asked.
There was a black FC in Canberra in the early 70's with the Repco X Flow Head. It was owned by Dave Wignall he was considered to be very well off to be able to afford it ;D. I don't think I have ever seen a Waggot Twin Cam conversion.
-
There will be some highly modded ones too, this one is sitting in our driveway now, (finished!) Ready to set sail tomorrow.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170918/b97374dad83b11409b7e98ba51b1936e.jpg)

-
Highly modded is an understatement :o :o :o
-
I WANT A WAGGOTT CYLINDER HEAD, OR A REPCO CROSS FLOW!!
It will be a great race meet, Sunday is predicted as clear in Hobart.
These are the cars that I have fixated on since I was a kid, you'll certainly enjoy the event it is also the only track where you can "RUN AN OPEN EXHAUST?"
Bruce XGN
-
It looks like Seanus got a hold of that one. :o
-
Holy cow man, the compressor housing looks to be almost the same diameter as the front disc rotor. That spells trouble with a capital T
-
is that a great big turbo ?
-
Nice 1 Bruce, another great shot. Lucky there is plenty of room behind the grill so one can fill it up with the worlds biggest inter-cooler :o
-
Sorry ambiguous post, that's not our jumpy, it belongs to an Ian Simpson who race in TAS I'm the 70s.
I'll get some pics of ours once I'm home, it's finished, I just haven't seen it.
Ours is more traditional race car and green :)
Bruce XGN
-
Ha ha, I didn't think that was your car. Everyone here knows you have too much respect for a classic to do that! Although I am glad there are other people who are not so fussed to show us what can be done with some creative thinking
-
is that a great big turbo ?
Yes Phil, it is rather large , we would be talking a lot of horsepower here ,probably close to Seanus's FX Special :o :o :o or maybe even the FX Sports !!!!
-
This is my uncles speedway car, its a Torana chassis with the FJ body
-
what a beast
-
That's quite a package djb, serious race car. Does he give you a drive?
Bruce XGN
-
Great track, particularly the blind left hander at the top of the hill. Flick it in when you see the witches hat and pray you dont hit the curb up there!
And for some unknown reason i think i liked the F1 styled humpy the best
-
sorry I missed this one, both the cars and the track. :(
From humpers comments it was a good night.
-
Some pictures of today, was awesome, so glad I went, Thank you Bruce :)
may even be a couple of pics of 2 very 8) cool 8) people sitting in a car
Also was a pleasure and a privileged to meet rooshooter and his wife :)

Very well done chaps great pictures.
Got a little giggle at #75, as predicted working on the front brakes. Turbo working perfectly :D
-
Nice album!
-
Thanks Phill
-
thanks Phil for the pics, good broad view of the day and really pleased you enjoyed the group of cars, I never tire of seeing these machines.
I noticed the cameos in Jeff's car, if I got it right you both look the part! Ready to hit the track, you just can't buy KOOL 8)
Great to hear Denis and yourself caught up, it was going to be a highlight for me, ahhh next time.
-
It was really good to catch up with Phil and his wife and add a physical presence to the mental picture. The setting was great too Baskerville would have to be one of the best tracks in Australia for spectators, thankyou Bruce for being the inspirstion to come here. The variety of grey motor cars was exceptional !! Did you notice the pics of the Repco x flow head Bruce? I haveyet to find the Waggot ohc conversion.
Full marks to Phil too for someone without an I T background to do what he does for our Thursday server.

I now have a pictorial meeting with you both, I must say Phil you certainly look relaxed behind the wheel, and adapted "the look" with an elbow out the window. Denis, nice to thank me, very pleased that you enjoyed the trip after all my spruiking, and then unable to attend, I felt a little guilty on that level along with disappointment, but there will be an event that we all can make it.
The yellow one "Simpson" on the back window was sitting in our drive for a couple of nights, they worked to the last second to get that complete stock to racer project done in time. Ian is in the same situation as myself, and his son in law Mike was running it for him. I think he will get a great kick out of, as he raced FJ in TAS for many years.
Man those cross flow high performance are the "ant's pants", (and Waggot :) ), there may be a Waggott in one of the "specials".
They both form the Holy Grail of Grey Motor :hotting up". Just revisited the album, you captured the event well. Great track for spectating, every one has always said, you can see the complete track from some of the vantage points, which is rare.
Cheers, Bruce

Phil and I have a new found respect for you Bruce after sitting in Geoff's car we could not believe how restricted the view was, the windscreen seems tiny, steering wheel huge and there is a large amount of car around you, must take some getting used to. Do not feel bad about not making it Ii have still really enjoyed the visit and am returning to Baskerville tomorrow to track down the Waggot conversion.

Thanks for the lap times Bruce , on track the Simpson car was obviously the fastest and they were still having electrical problems Sunday morning but got them sorted.....Jeffs car was also obviously quick, I would imagine your car would post similiar times. The search for the Waggot head proved fruitless I guess thats why it is the holy grail of grey motor hot bits.I think one of the cars there Carey's car may have had one on it at some stage but now has Repco x flow. The Sunday racing was exvellent with so many grey powered csrs on the trsck at once.
