I think the MB dying was kind of bringing the rest of it down but should be good for a while again now and will be interesting to see if the newer i7 6700k and DDR4 @3200mhz will make a noticeable difference.Last nite I ran on just an i7 6700 and my old ddr3 ram and cant say there was a noticeable difference between that and my i7 2700k Logged Bird Administrator Hero Member Posts: 2318 Karma: -666 Ysu Re: S10R2: Imola Pre-Race Chat « Reply #9 on: January 27, 2016, 05:37:27 PM » Quote from: marty on January 27, 2016, 05:25:14 PMQuote from: Gratulin on January 27, 2016, 02:49:44 PMNow we know why his PC keeps crashing - it's made by Tupperware!I think it just got rather old, had the CPU i7 2700k, MB and ram for quite a while plus ran it quite hard so not a surprise it started to fail. I don't think yours is *that* old. But it's always a good excuse to update (even after a year, if you can get away with it!) And don't forget; for gaming, you usually need frequency, more than cores! Of course mine is overclocked by a GHz or so « Last Edit: January 27, 2016, 05:39:07 PM by Bird » Logged marty Hero Member Posts: 3747 Karma: -63 Re: S10R2: Imola Pre-Race Chat « Reply #10 on: January 27, 2016, 06:08:17 PM » Just testing the processor and should have no issues running at 4.6ghz so shouldn't be too shabby though my 2700 was running a bit quicker maybe I will try not to kill this one too soon, everything on water so temps arent an issue but just updating all software atm with a clean start. Any i7 should be able to cut it as long as your GPU and RAM are up to scratch, even more so if you're running games of an SSD.
