Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: Season 17 - Formula Ford

Some of the track ideas thrown around:ThruxtonKnockhillCadwell ParkOulton ParkSilverstone 67 (or International)Goodwood
Donington, Croft , Mallory Park and Snetterton and Brands Hatch add to list.

11 tracks in total.
I cannot find a list of tracks they raced in 1967 but the above have been used at some point since 1967, so I will see which of the above has the best mods available. Any suggestions appreciated.
I have used on a Tuesday:

Goodwood (the one with wet and dry)
Thruxton
Oulton Park
Donington
You should be able to find the links in the Tuesday forum.

Hey Wally, I am away until 26th so can't do the sign up without my guid. When does the season kick off and can i join in late if required?
Similar question: when does the season start? I am back, but I have not tested or registered for the car dealer yet ;)
Next Tuesday! It's not a real serious season, but more a test of the car dealer system, looking for bugs, seeing how it works out moneywise, etc.

So, why Porsches?

They tick these boxes:
  • Similar cars, but with a range of performance
  • Simple to set up, in case you're in a different car every week

Hey Wally - you have managed to add at mailto tag for the second link :)
Thanks - fixed!

My first setup change ever  was to bend the little contacts underneath the Scalextric car up a bit to reduce friction against the track.

*Ahem*, it's not like that. The point of early access is to try, get feedback, learn, fix and rewrite if you have to.

This was as close as I got, 5th birthday present, complete with Can-Am cars. ;D

Ha yes, awesome. I'd forgotten I had something very similar.

Sign up and rent a car at the car dealer, and read about the season here.

This round is 3 x 10 laps.

12
I've cancelled people's earlier signups, so please sign up again.

Round Format
Three 20 minute sprints - qualifying, then races 2 and 3 in finish position of the previous race.
Tyre wear will be 0.5x.

Round Schedule
Check it out here: https://xgnsimracing.com.au/season/schedule

Season sign up
Head over to the car dealer to sign up for the season. You must sign up in the Car Dealer, not here!

You log in with your GUID (aka your Steam ID). You can find your GUID in your Assetto Corsa/cfg/race.ini file - it's a 17 digit number. The default password is the usual XGN password - you should change your password after you log in, with the menu option at the right hand side under your name.
Skins are just random at this point.

Buy a car
When you sign up for the season, you'll have enough money to buy any of the 3 slowest cars. You can choose any car you can afford. By default, you get the slowest car.

What happens after a round?
The higher you finish, the less you earn. This will balance the field, with slower drivers being able to afford faster cars. Any significant damage you incur through the round will cause a repair bill to be deducted from your earnings.
You'll be reset back to the slowest car, and you can now choose another car to buy for the next round.

You would flick a marble up the side with a spring, like a pinball machine, and the first player to get all their cars to the bottom won.

I didn't really enjoy these cars. Too hard, too much throttle control needed. Give me a car where I can just mash the throttle :)

Last night's race was fun though. I actually had some racing with people, which I didn't get to enjoy a lot of this season. The finishing laps with Killa were great fun, a real battle with some passing and counter-passing. It's nice and difficult being right behind someone into a corner, barely able to see where you're going. Unfortunately the final lap battle came unstuck near the end when we touched while side by side in a corner, but it was still a nice finish to the season.
