Racing general / Re: Sauber slices F1 car one in half« on: August 08, 2015, 10:03:32 AM »
I heard Mark Webber say on Australian Story that an F1 car is uncomfortable and claustrophobic.

I just read this description from a motoring journalist of the first generation MX5 roadster, known as the NA (released in 1989). ”Getting after a mountain road in that tiny roadster was nothing but mechanical joy. You could let the car drift fearlessly, pitch the tail around to get the noise pointed right and cane it. It was easy. It was fun. The steering was perfect, like a high price go-kart.”
The mod doesn't really convey that feeling. It just feels sluggish. Maybe the old tyres make it feel more like this. 7878

I will try to enable a bigger pit window, but still make one stop a necessity. 7880

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Bucket list: future season ideas« on: August 07, 2015, 06:36:54 PM »Only problem is people get bored waiting. In my league stats, I actually have a ranking for all players. Stats? What stats? You say. I would split up teams of 3, say, with a top ranked driver, a middle ranked driver, and a lower ranked driver, to avoid too imbalanced teams. I do like top 10 shootouts though. The pressure is exciting. But again... people have to wait. 7882

The GTC is easier to drive. They're different enough to make it interesting. 7886

I hope they do a good job, because AC needs more open wheelers of this style. I'd love a Formula Ford too.

I won race 1 and so did my wife.
I had good fun, but screwed up a few times... both times running into Grubbet, I think - sorry. It was annoying to crash after taking so long to catch up to someone. It seemed the car was a lot faster than some earlier races, getting to 150, 160. 7889

Can everyone who's signed up please nominate whether they want to start in the GX or the GTC.

I had a look at using ballast, but the same weight affected both cars' lap times differently in my testing, because they have different weights and different power to weight ratios. Ballast will be best suited to single-make races by the looks of it.
Or I could use a success ballast, like in the BTCC. Quote Having previously handicapped the top five drivers, ballast will now be distributed across the top ten in the championship entering a weekend and then based on race results for the rest of the event. That would probably work well enough. In that case, I wouldn't have a reverse grid. To put the weights into perspective, I found that 100kg slowed the GTC down by 1.8 seconds, and the GX by 0.5 seconds. So 75 kg would be quite reasonable. |
