Thanks everyone for the season. Despite lapping alone most of the time, I did enjoy driving the LMP1 cars. It was nice to be able to setup the car the way I wanted it to drive instead of adapting to the car and working out how to drive around the issues. I had a decent base setup by the Le Mans race and was just lacking in practice time with all but 1 round only having about 30 minutes to learn the track and find where to best use the KERS. Shanghai was definitely my best race as I like the track and actually had about 1.5 hours to practice. That seemed to be enough to gain the 1 to 1.5 secs I was lacking otherwise. My consistency is also getting better but still have some brain fade late in the races from time to time.

Thanks again to everyone and sorry for those I caused problems with. Congrats to the winners and of course my team-mate KCender for this run. At least one of us was getting results

Bring on season 20

Had a lonely race thanks to not getting a lap in during qualifying. Completely my own fault.

Made my way through the GT cars half way through lap 1 but was already about 30 secs behind. Lapped reasonably consistently for most of the race with a couple of lapses in concentration but wasn't too bad a test session for me.

Congrats to Kcender and KillaGorilla for the wins and bring on next week.

Thinking I'll run in the Capri. Is there a track list yet?

I was getting warning with 2 wheels outside the white lines which is still perfectly valid in the real world. Will just have to take more care in the race

I'll have a run with these if there's an open spot. I'll decide on a car later tonight.

I turned my first laps in anger with the Audi in the half hour leading up to the race. Was just interested in getting a good race setup and making the car pretty forgiving to drive. I felt by the end of practice I'd achieved that and was looking forward to the race. I did enjoy the rolling start but the first lap incident was a little frustrating but that's racing. I thought the 5 min penalty was a bit rough but it's a game thing and can't be changed. I made myself a drink, re-grouped and just set out to understand the car better. I was pretty happy with the race pace of the car and there was definitely more in it. I think I did my best lap in the last few laps of the race but still some tuning to do yet.

Just a note to the GT cars, stay on line so it's more predictable and when we pass coming into a slow corner and please dont try and stick it back up the inside again, happened twice into the slow chicane and I went off track to avoid the collision since I was a few laps down anyway.

All things considered, it was a fun night and bring on next week.

Condolences to Kcender for being paired up with me......I think you'll be getting the bulk of the points for us

Things happen. Was more frustration for me. I didn't mean anything by it

83
Maybe I am just not pushing hard enough.

Seems like Audi numbers are lacking in LMP1. I'll jump in one so your not the lone Ranger Wally.

85
I haven't had time to practice for this either, but I figure 2 hrs will be plenty of time to find a groove :)
If only I knew how the tyre compounds wore....

I did a test run on almost full tanks and soft tyres. After 20 laps they're still fine

86
Sorry fuel usage of 1.5 is probably more appropriate

87
A couple of changes after the practice races:
  • Tyre warmers will be ON (so that tyres don't get too cold on the formation lap).
  • The LMP1 class should stay in 2nd gear on the formation lap to maintain a consistent speed. Once the leader passes the start line, he can go.
I also decided a little while back that fairness, all cars will have to do a mandatory pit stop where tyres must be changed.

Not intending to throw a spanner in the works. If the main issue is the fuel usage in the LMP cars, moving the fuel usage to 2x will enforce a stop and retain the consumption advantage/disadvantage. This may work as long as the GT3 cars usage is pretty equal.

I'm keen. I'll run in the Ferrari

Sorry but have to give tonight a miss. Taking the opportunity to do a few small jobs

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: WEC pitstops

Had quick runs in all 3 LMP1 cars last night and actually find the Toyota is the best balance just twitchy in the rear on turn in. Should be able to tune that out for the quick direction changes. Not sure about forcing soft tyres though. Even the GT cars cook the L/H/R around Mugello pretty quick.

I think every car has strengths and weaknesses so it's a matter of enjoying the best of the cars and best dealing with or driving around the worst for whichever given track.
