Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: How I broke my wrist - for Phil :)« on: October 09, 2017, 12:44:53 PM »wow, bet that hurt Nice bike got to sit on my mates Yamaha YZF-R1 last week, didn't ride it, too scared Happy BirthdayCheers Phil, Yeah, the RR is a really nice bike if you like super sports, racing style. If you're a cruiser man, they're the ugliest things on the road. I'm not a cruiser man. It didn't really hurt when I did it because of the adrenaline rush from the fear and embarrassment of dropping the bike, but it was a bit worse later. I felt it snap, rather than feeling pain from it. I knew it wasn't good as soon as it happened though. The biggest problem I have now is transport. I use my bike for everything and now I can't ride for a couple of months. 153

Thanks Phil, I started another thread to answer because I think there is some comedy in it. Cheers Darren 154
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / How I broke my wrist - for Phil :)« on: October 09, 2017, 11:17:21 AM »Hi Wally, Funny story Phil - Greek tragedy perhaps. I replaced my old (15yr) CBR600F4i with a new CBR600rr and was lucky enough to be picking it up on my birthday Thursday. I wasn't used to the clutch, engine note etc and was paranoid about new tyre grip (because I've high-sided from a standing start before on new tyres), under revved it and stalled with a little lurch, lost my balance, and refused to drop the bike hard. I was still fighting gravity trying to drop it gently, and when my elbow hit the ground about 100 kgs went through my wrist and it snapped. Best, and worst Birthday ever. So now I'm paying for 8 to 10 weeks of rego, and insurance on a new bike I can't ride. The Ambulance and hospital hospital staff were great, and Pro Honda Moorooka, bless their cotton socks, are replacing the piece of fairing I did still scratch for nothing, as a birthday present. 155

Backing up what Wally said.
You're certainly one of the nicest people I've raced with Bruce, maybe too nice on the track sometimes. Daz 159

I had an ordinary night points wise, but still had a good nights racing in the main.
Race 1: I can't really remember how I ended up where I was. ( I remember now....the stinking chicane. A pox on them. Early on I couldn't find rhythm in the traffic and kept setting myself up for being passed. Got spun at the chicken (no biggie) and had fun chasing, but not passing people. Race 2: Well done to the couple of guys that managed to get out of my way at the first hairpin when I missed my brake marker, being on the inside of the track, and barreled up the inside all locked up and smoking. Sorry about that. After that I went off the circuit somewhere and lost five positions. Spent the rest of the race chasing, and not passing people. Good fun though. 161

Sorry Phil, I meant during the race. What Joe said. Bacchulum and Dave O, It was a series of unfortunate events and I thought it was all great racing.....up to the point my teammate cannon punted me. LOL 163

I was slow.
Race 1. I was slow. Had some good racing. Race 2. I was still slow. Had some really good racing.(edit) and a big shout-out to my teammate for reintroducing the "Malachi Crunch" on Dave O I think it was, at turn one. Had I known I would have given up that corner. That could have been some really good racing. I lost a little bit of traction coming through the last corner and Dave had a little bit of speed on me down the straight and was along side into turn one sequence. I wanted to hold position because I would had had the inside line through the second part of the sweeping S's. Fast chicane really. I didn't see that Bacchulum had a run on DaveO on the inside of him into the first part of the turn and we went in three wide. Because I'd compromised DaveO's line he couldn't really couldn't give Bacchulum the little bit of room he needed, and we came together in the famous "Malachi Crunch". Unfortunately it had the same effect on me as was suffered by the Malachi's when trying to finish Pinky Tuscadero. I went off and lost enough time that I couldn't get back in touch with them. Both were too fast for me anyway and it was fun racing. I thought it was hilarious, but I'm a bit special. My impressions of the night. First night back after three weeks I'm not surprised there were a few more incidents than usual, but it was clean from my race point. Mid field can be a bit of a lottery for the first five laps because you're all around the some overall times but the different restrictions mean there can be a couple of areas where the speed differences are greater, making it a challenge. As a separate issue: I don't know who was doing the speaking on Teamspeak, but could you please keep your indignance and outrage for after the race, and do it here; or don't push your button and make your significant other listen to it. I know it's frustrating, but I'm not interested in hearing it during the race. I'm trying not to hit people, avoid accidents, and drive as fast as my slow arse can manage. Cheers 164
