Haha, there's a spot there somewhere on this track where I've just got to stop and load the car up with hay bails, every time

My 980 also gives about 30FPS - in the sun, anyway. Joe, I find the triple screens OK. I had to fiddle with the FOV and the distance.

Did you turn it off and on again?

Same disappointment for me...crashed into the barrier early in the first race, bent steering. I think I got a little excited because I could actually see pos 1 not too far in front for a change. Both lonely races.

Had similar issues with my wheel when windows 10 1803 finally caught up with me. The wheel was not recognised in windows and the driver page. Even after reinstalled drivers, it didn't show up until I swapped usb ports. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it maybe the combination of usb port swap and driver install (numerous times)

Hardware & Reviews / Re: System upgrade - 8700k & mobo

There's quite a few second hand beefy cards floating around ebay & gumtree which you could probably pick up pretty cheap, also sales on new ones popping up every now and then. New 9 series cpus and z390 mobos coming out soon so there might even be some second hand i7/z370 bargains too. The new 9700k 8 core without hyperthreading sounds like it's going to be a good cpu for a gaming pc, depending on pricing.

Hardware & Reviews / System upgrade - 8700k & mobo
« on: September 25, 2018, 08:51:59 AM »
I've been meaning to share my thoughts on this cpu for a while since a few people have mentioned sharing during race chat. (not a brag)
First up, this upgrade from 6700k was probably not needed and is an expensive one considering the small gains to be had...but I had the itch like some others here. With the 6700k I was noticing some hitching/micro stutter in AC particularly when the leader crosses the start/finish on the first & last lap, also when people were entering discord chat during practice. I was unable to find a solution/optimisation, the cpu was already overclocked to the max and the (small I know) issues being just annoying enough to fuel my upgrade itch. I believe the 8700k has helped a lot but not totally rid the issue, doesn't happen with discord any longer, but still very occasional (much smaller and less frequent) micro stutter in ac start/finish line. So the extra cpu threads/resources have helped my system overall, particularly when running multiple background tasks eg, Sim Hub, Crew Chief, discord and what ever else windows tries to do these days. Battlefield 1 frame rate has increased by a nice margin, previously was about 90-125 fps with my settings and now at 110-150 fps, the only thing is it's not perceivable, the game ran so smooth anyways.
So if your thinking about upgrading, the price to performance is not great but the performance is there especially if your on older hardware.
These 14nm cpu's run hot so I've done the de-lid and apply liquid metal on both my cpu's but the 6700k had custom water cooling and the 8700k I have a big Cryorig R1 Universal air cooler and temps are quite nice.
My 8700k seems to be a decent one, not golden but not shite, settings;
5Ghz @ 1.3v, vcore in hwinfo reads 1.32v under light loads and 1.29v under heavy load/stress tests, so still a small amount of vdroop.
Cache is set to stock, no overclock there.
Ram is 4x 8gb 3200 @ 3466mhz with vccio @ 1.15v and vccsa (internal memory controller) 1.18v. Hwinfo shows these at 1.17 & 1.19 respectively. Also xmp profiles usually pump too much voltage into these, upwards of 1.3v unnecessarily increasing cpu temps.
All other intel turbo, speed step, power saving features are still enabled. I haven't the cpu any higher yet, very happy with where it is now.
Just sharing my results for those interested and for the guys that have the same cpu. Any questions I'll try my best to answer, I'm not a pro at this stuff just a pc/gaming enthusiast, it's my hobby I spend my hard earned on instead of beer or whatever (don't you judge me lol).
I'm also interested in the guys sharing there thoughts on the ryzen stuff since I almost converted to save a few bucks but only stuck with intel because I'm familiar with it and I knew my ram was compatible.

Yes I have triple 23" 1920x1080 monitors with:
3.70 gigahertz Intel Core i7-8700K
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AORUS 11GB
What mobo and ram with that processor Russ? I'm thinking of upgrading tomorrow.
I picked up an 8700k and msi z370 gaming m5 for $700 a couple months ago during an ebay 20% off sale, happy with this board, the cpu is solid @ 5ghz 1.3v. Ram is corsair 3200MHz from previous setup and runs easily @ 3466mhz on this mobo.
There is also the 9 series CPU's due out soon, the 9700k and 9900k the one's to look out for, 8 core & 8 core /16 thread respectively. And z390 to go with it however could be more expensive
26% off flash sale. today only.

Dang... Sales already. I picked this up and Human Fall Flat for my daughter which went to half price the next day lol.
I guess you cant do a steam refund if one was to purchase gmg ?
It drives quite well, over all feel (driving and ffb) is similar to ac. Maybe the only issue is going to be content, even after the full release however I think there is going to be plenty of enjoyment from it so it won't be a total waste of money

With everything set to highest except for fxaa and motion blur disabled I have fluctuating (but smooth, gsync) 75-115 fps @ uw 3440x1440p, 1080ti @ 2ghz, full grid of cars in an evening (low light + headlights) race. Haven't tried much else of it yet

Hardware & Reviews / Re: RTX 2080 review
« on: September 22, 2018, 08:50:44 AM »
I think the issue is that there is virtually nothing that has been optimised for these news cards from the ground up.  Personally, I don't care too much for ray tracing.  I want to see pure grunt that will propel me through AC at 90 FPS using 180 degree 8K VR.
That probably means forking out for the 2080ti or waiting till next year, in the sweviver pimax review he said he had one on order, so worth waiting to see if it can do it, I think he said he has a 1080?

Most of the reviews I've seen on YouTube have the 1080ti and 2080 virtually identical, not worth an upgrade. Only the 2080ti with a jump in performance ~30% but over 70% price hike, again not worth it. Ray tracing is currently non existent and when it does get implemented is said to be a performance hog. As mentioned this is certainly a generation to skip, especially since the next gen 7nm stuff nvidia and AMD will possibly be out as early as next year, plus Intel gpus 2020?. Hardware Unboxed and GamersNexus on YouTube are good sources for game and hardware benchmark testing.

been thinking of getting one curved monitor to replace my triples but not sure if it will give the same effect or if you can even get them big enough to be comparable , or maybe 3 curved like this https://www.pccasegear.com/products/43413/aoc-c24g1-23-6in-curved-full-hd-144hz-freesync-va-gaming-monitor
anyone have any opinion on this ?
Closest thing to triples in one monitor is https://www.pccasegear.com/products/42826/samsung-c49j890d-ultra-widescreen-144hz-49in-qled-gaming-monitor but it is only as wide two monitors and does not wrap around as much as larger triples would. Personally I'd go up to 27inch instead of the 23inch for triples https://www.pccasegear.com/products/43412/aoc-c27g1-27in-curved-full-hd-144hz-freesync-va-gaming-monitor to have more real estate and wrap around further. It's just my opinion and depends on how much room you have, I'd rather have one large curve or three big screens.
Edit, having said all that, the high refresh curved 23's would be nice

I've been using mt-04 #69, I haven't looked at the specs and differences in these cars but if everyone else is using a 1600 this round can I have one too. I'm happy with the mt-04 but I don't want to be totally left in the the dust, thanks
