Count me in Wally.  No change to my name.

Great car selections - two of the most fun cars in the game IMO. Lively but manageable.

Thanks for the info on the world records as well...gives us something to aim for  ;)

Braking into the chicanes in the Ferrari with clutch and H-shifter is a handful. Or should I say a footful.

It wouldn't be out of place to have the 312T on '66 Monza as well. ;)
But I'll drive it (slowly) anywhere. :P

Ultimate in frustration:

New PC (i5, R9 290X, SSD etc) all ready for AC and triples
Delivery of new monitors delayed from Dell
Injured foot so no driving since it's the "accelerator" foot
 >:( :( :'(

PS. even so will try a few laps online during your practise sessions to test out my driving especially if the monitors arrive by Thursday  ;D

Thanks for both options lads, will put some practice in tonight.  I'll be happy if I can rub of 1 second, it was becoming frustrating getting a little gain in one sector to lose it in another!

I know how you feel Bruce I am in the same boat, I did change degrees of rotation in the logitech profiler
to 270deg which gave me better steering. I have been online and have seen a 1m 30s and 31s done in front of me.
I think our lap times are the reason why you do not see 60 year olds driving Formula 1 :(

The cold sunday worked in well, it only took an hour out in the shed in the first of Melbourne's winter, to come in side and do some real work on the puter!
Removed gigabyte of old, no longer used games  ::)  defragged the crap out of it and not experiencing any problems.  :-X
Fixed my G27, tightened the rotation sensor, only took 10 minutes, I know I should have done it months ago! It is soooo nice to drive now. :)

Good news mate on fixing g27, one of those things once it is done, you think i should have done it ages ago...I eliminated my small  stutters with a new video card and slight cpu oc. Runs as smooth as silk now. Full grid with ai 120fps all eye candy on except fxaa

I managed a low 1.29 with the setup posted in my setups thread.

Few things to consider, if I can help:
* hold it flat through Ascari (second last corner).
* get a good line out of the second Lesmos to maximize your speed on the long stretch to Ascari.
* braking is different to most cars in that you start off easy and can increase pressure the slower you go (to a point).

Otherwise just tip it in! :)

Cheers.

Really? I love it.  You can wrestle it around... just be sure to change gears in a straight line!  Coming out of the second chicane at Monza always gets me.  Actually the curbs at Monza are a real bugger, always seem to be spinning on them compared to other tracks.

Managed to throw down a high 1:32 in the Lotus. I'm not very consistent though. 1st time I've really had a good go in the old Lotus or the 312T.
Didn't fair as well in the 312T. 1:54.5 Straight out of the box, no adjustments what so ever....
Not that it would help my lead foot and over aggressive steering.

Will be intersting to see the pace, Im not huge on the old monza combo had a little play the other day only a handful of laps can get mid 29's but it just feels off. Probably find some time lime last week as I found about a second from my practice laps.

The 312T I havent driven at Monza yet so will try get some laps in after work but Im thinking mid pack for me this time on both probably. 312T is fun just Monza has always been a bit broing for me so I dont run there much in Anything but can be fun in a race much more then hotlapping. Also no drafting will make it strange and I can imagine the first chicane being messy all race.

Yep, we will have to be very gentle at the first chicane. Don't want to see half the field taken out on the first corner in true Monza style.

Let's make the race last longer than T1!!!

If it's a full grid it's going to be chaos for the whole race I think! But I think it will be a lot of laughs. There is no sheep stations at risk so absolutely no reason to take it too serious these early days.

Good fun. With h shifter and clutch, I struggled with downshifts, which caused a few mishaps. I might give auto blip a try, although the BMW is a lot more forgiving on the gearshifts.

Sorry about the hits on Rob and SpeedFreak in the Ferrari. The SpeedFreak hit was a sloppy track re-entry on my part.

No probs Wally, T1 at Monza was always going to be ....... interesting. ;)

I had a great night. Seeing MP is still Alpha, AC shows great promise for the future. We desperately need "drafting", hopefully will be implemented soon.

Thanks for organizing Wally.

Wow i got points?? lol

Well obviously I had the worst cars! They where slow in the fast bits, too fast in the slow bits. too straight in the turny bits and wanted to turn in the straight bits!! I think it was sabotage!!

Besides, using a keyboard only...  ;)

Ok seriously, I had a blast and was laughing a lot. Even at how bad i was doing. I knew I would be off the pace but geez you guys are fast!
I put it down to being a bit wasted and a lack of experience.
That was my 1st ever sign race.
AC is my 1st ever SIM... I've played Gran Tourismo for a while a long time ago, but that is arcade really.

So really a good estimate to my entire SIM experience is:

975 laps recorded by Dick Forrest with RSR Live Timing
5901 km recorded by Dick Forrest with RSR Live Timing

I've got more excuses if pushed :)

Thanks guys, i hope I wasn't in the way too much! It was a learning experience for sure. I was in 9th there for maybe a lap (after the chaos at the 1st chicane) but choked and went off.
I really did have a blast. I even broke my PB in both cars a few times so that's also great.
just gotta be consistent.

Thanks Wally for organizing!!

Well done Dick, hehe they are FAST aren't they! Man I have been doing this for a long time, it always impresses me how fast the boys are.
Had a ball too and it appears we had the same cars delivered to our teams :)

All though i must say the quality of AC makes for an enjoyable race from any position even down the back.
Hey GW your words are ringing in my ears
Quote
We (GW & FT) should have close racing...
If we can both gain some consistency along with Roo and a couple of others we will have a ball!
See you all on the track, will endevour to knock up a skin for my BMWs in time for ROUND 1!

Great field, pleasing to see new racers as well as the old, a big 'tick' to you Wally

Loved the lotus49, will look forward to season in that. Will be great when drafting comes into play, spent very little time in the Ferrari but had fun none the less.
Good racing against Marty and Simone in race one. Race two sorry to anyone that I may have touched but yer, thats one car I would not like to get into in real life. You seem to get into trouble rather quickly. Wouldnt like to have seen my gearbox oil after race 2.

Was good fun as always, had some good battles in the first race then trying to catch the leaders but ran out of talent a few times  :) Really need to put in a few more laps in those cars as they were more fun then I expected. Good fair driving all round and some real quick guys up front that help push me on quite a bit.

Second race I was all over the shop missed way too many gears especially trying to make moves into 1 braking at 150m in neutral doesn't work in the 312T just a tip for others as I tried twice and luckily I entered so quick I didnt hit anyone either time.

Besides, using a keyboard only...  ;)

You really should get a wheel.  It will make the game so much more fun and your times would tumble down.  You can find a G27 for around $250 these days.  They even had them on Catch of the Day for $200 a little while back.

Alas Guybrush, I actually do have a G27. And was using it...

Clearly mine is broken.  ;)

Whoops.  I couldn't remember your times but was thinking it must be a feat just to complete a race with the KB!  Anyway, my sarcasm-o-detector is back on now ;)
