Maybe they need to put up "no loitering" signs ;)
If we have a race tonight I'll try sitting in the pits after hitting drive and see if it starts me there.

Apparently slipstreaming will be in the July 18th build, and yes it was pretty boring around Silverstone Int in the Fabarth last night.

Low revs, low speeds and a well planted car isn't very exhilarating. Need reverse grids or something :)

Well, seems to be a few opposed to it with reason, Wally, is it possible to do a fun run in these before voting ends. We have all had a taste of the L49 and the 312t. I would hate to get into a series with these that be boring for all with out slipstreaming.

Would be good to have a "fun race" as a trial.  Slip-streaming would be implemented before the next season though if it's in the July 18th update.

Perhaps we could run some tests with a 5 min qual session and 1 lap race repeating to see what leads to the issue?

I haven't started from the pits yet and every time I've made sure I've been out on track when the qual session ends.  Perhaps it occurs for anyone still in the pits at the end of a qual session so you don't have all these cars that aren't participating (AFK) out on the starting grid at the start of the race for everyone to run into.

I've finished every qualifying in the pits. Even not going out at all for qualifying. I've started on the grid every race.
It might well be pressing escape then 'back to pits' that may cause it?
Every time I've waited for the qualifying results to come up, then click the arrow at the bottom and I think it takes me straight onto the grid with the set up screen showing.

EDIT: Looking at the season's standings it has become very clear that Wally must be whistling code after qualifying to put his main rivals into the pits!!!

Ah OK.  Well as suggested maybe it is when, between the qual time ending (chequered flag out) and the actual end of the qual session - the "ESC - back to pits" is used and we start from the pits.

Dont remember that lol

Do remember the mellee at the last chicane,   reckon there was 5 cars going in every direction

It may have been the other car with the Martini livery?
Yeah that was interesting driving through that mess at the chicane - ended up taking the scenic route.

Btw, we just had a half a race in AACL in these cars...what can I say; it's a tad boring.   There's little happening in these cars, and since there's no bump drafting, overtaking is extremely hard.

We had a train of cars going, and that's it until someone makes a serious mistake, which isn't that often since the car is very forgiving.

I really-really recommend against a season with this car right now (with bump drafting it'd be a different matter, probably)

Do you mean regular drafting or slip-streaming Bird?  Bump drafting is what they use in NASCAR when one car bumps the other car in front from behind to increase it's speed while the trailing car doing the bumping also gets an increase in speed from the slip-stream.  They do this multiple times on a straight to draw away from a pack or just because it increases the overall pace around a track.

Will be interesting to see how the Tatuus goes in a race.  Hopefully it leads to close racing... maybe we can give it a run Thursday night?  The race a few of us had the other night seemed to be nice and close.

I've heard it whispered that "The Wally,  codes as he drives and inputs direct to the bus in machine code when sim racing"
I heard he can whistle the programs onto tape...lately having problems because USB does not understand whistle.

I don't think that's true, I heard Wally whistles in binary code so he can program while racing.  What's more he whistles binary at 4.6 Ghz, and if overclocked using liquid cooling he can push up to 5 Ghz.  After that he overheats, crashes and sits in the corner wearing his underpants on his head, rocking back and forward sucking his thumb.

Guy, you are a hard bugger to race against..I reckon we past each other numerous times due to little mishaps and other cars.
I hope i raced you ok  I can get a bit ''greedy''

Racing was good Viper.  I get the red mist a bit as well and can sometimes turn an inch into a car width myself.  There was once incident where I was on the inside of a car going around T3 and they bumped me off which spat me onto the grass - I looked around when I was entering but you must have been in my blind spot or still coming around the corner as somehow when I re-joined I bumped into you, so sorry about that one.

Just ran a few laps of Mugello and got to a setup I'm happy with.  Got me within 3/4 a second of the WR.  It's in the dropbox link.

2020
'Twas a good night again boys, although my memory of both races has faded somewhat.

First race I got off the line OK and was coming up on Darren and a few others on the inside of the start straight.  I decided to switch to the outside as it looked fairly packed with everyone going for the one apex.  Anyway, there seemed to be a few bumps and I went around the outside and come into T2 just behind Darren.  From there we had a good battle for a lap or so with some decent side-by-side racing.  I locked up on the inside of Darren going into the "carrousel", but luckily he saw it all coming and gave me room to shoot through into the gravel.  I don't recall much else other than being behind Vipergod for a bit and unable to pass.  Then passing a black car just before the finish which I was thinking was a back-marker just stuffing around, but turned out to be Darren out of fuel!

Second race was absolute chaos going into T1.  I saw a white car had spun in the middle of T1 so I went to one side of it and got pole-axed 3 or 4 times trying to just get going.  I got hit, then started to get going and got hit again, then started to get going from outside the track and got hit again and so on.  Anyway, I was racing a few cars in front once I did get going but got in a tangle which sent me backwards again.  Once I got going again I realised Darren was behind me and we had another good fight with Darren eventually getting in front as I braked a bit early into T1 allowing for another car ahead, to which Darren took advantage and swooped up the inside, so a nice move.  From then on I was pretty much stuck to Vipergod's rear bumper and we had a good race to the finish.  Vipergod showed some good nerve by not making a mistake under pressure which would have let me past.

Looking forward to Mugello now :)

Stop making me laugh aloud in the tea room at work... I might have to explain to someone why!

CramDick for the win!

Mugello is probably my favourite track in AC, although I'm not the quickest around it.  Love the mix of undulating track, fast and medium speed sweeping corners.

I bags Mopz's DTM! ;)

Is there any chance we could have a break for a couple of weeks between season 1 and 2 Wally?  The rest of my life is starting to feel neglected!
I normally have a break for a week or two, with a fun run in something completely different, and a familiarisation race in the next season's car.
You could just be slower Guybrush :) ;)

It's the car setup that takes all the time.  Especially when you're not completely experienced with it like me and for some things it's a bit of trial-and-error.

Besides all that though, someone has to get close enough to Darren to knock him off the track! ;)

Bummer.

Guys, I can see the FAbarth pulling forwards;  but just think about it: it's too forgiving.
It's not a car to learn new tricks with, it's a car to get sloppy with.  You can get away with nearly anything.

I don't recommend it at all.

Think of it as a start though, learning to get to grips with this as a training car (as it is in real life) before graduating to the likes of more advanced open wheelers.  There's plenty of time to work our way up to that Exos S1 and perhaps by then we will have Spa and some other good modded tracks :)

I see RSR have announced a Formel 3 mod and are working closely with one of the teams.  That might be a good next step after the Tatuus.

But that's the point; it's not as good a learning car as the FF16000 was in nkp, it has wings and lots of setup options, and - most importantly - it's extremely forgiving.   Nothing like the F1600.

I never raced NKP.  Was the F1600 a Formula Ford? That would be great in AC... hopefully Kunos have their eye on doing one themselves.

I don't think the Tatuus is any more forgiving than the E30 though if you are driving it at the limit.  Personally I think any of the winged open wheelers are harder to drive at the limit because once you step over the line they usually snap and you end up either in the gravel or loosing a bucket of time trying to re-stabilise them.  Most of the road cars give you a bit more room to catch a slide, etc.  But horses for courses and all that...  I do see where you are coming from though as up until you over-step the limit the FA is quite a stable car.
