News / New feature: Simpler & more functional video embedding
« on: January 06, 2016, 04:12:54 PM »
Ok gents, I've installed a new mod to make videos simpler, easier to use - and work w/o flash :)

All you need to do is post the link to the video - and it works with friggen nearly everything it seems - and it'll convert it nicely to a video.

Example.  This ( notice: there are NO TAGS around the link! )
Code: [Select]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRkg93Bi5Ek
converts into this:

Here's the full doc if interested in what's supported.

News / New server, and sorry for the outage.
« on: January 02, 2016, 03:24:17 PM »
Hey guys.

We run into a server error on the old hosting, and decided to cut to the chase.
From here on I'm hosting the site on Amazon, and top level admins have (nearly) full access to the server, so we should be able to solve issues much quicker now.

We also have a TS3 server running on this instance, we just need to configure it properly (volunteers needed I guess) - it's at ts3.xgn.com.au

Enjoy, and sorry for the long outage at the worst time ;)

Edit:
If the program says "you're unable to log in, check your cookie settings",  you need to delete your session cookies !

Also, emails were not working (sorry!) this has now been fixed.  So if you could not log in nor retrieve your credentials, it's time to try again!

General Discussion / NBN
« on: December 02, 2015, 11:21:09 AM »
I just love to share NBN speed tests :)
I'm often getting less than 90 mbps download, but just as often the upload is 37+.
I love the ping, though.  It's ridiculously good, all the time, never out of single digits, often in the low singles.

If you think about it...it's around 10MB/s - one 600MB CD in one minute! hehe.
But this is also the problem.  You can rack up crazy amounts of downloads in no time.  First (half) day for me: 16GB :D

Racing general / You got your refund early, Wally!
« on: September 10, 2015, 09:31:43 AM »
I've just received 45.50 Euros from Slightly Mad Studios (via paypal).
While it does not say what it is, I have a strong suspicion this is my profit share of Project CARS.

Not too shabby.

About those early downshifts...
It's a great bit of driving, but even if you don't want to watch it all, go to 12mins to see the result :D

TLDR:
Steam is now offering refunds on games bought on their site, for a very reasonable period!
Applies to pre-releases too.

It was bloody time if you ask me :)

Assetto Corsa / Challenge! Solitude in an F40
« on: December 28, 2014, 08:46:31 PM »
I challenge you guys for a real trial, this will sort the men out :)

F40 S3 at Solitude.

Edit: track d/l:  http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/solitude-rennstrecke-1964-by-neelj-and-rainmaker.18439/

Anything under 3:35 and I'll give you you can drive the F40 properly.
My pb is 3:29.355 at the moment, and I know that there's more in it.  Guy will beat me by 3 seconds.

It's really something to brake at the end of the long straight from 320+ km/h on overheated tyres ;)
And the jumps!  Man this track is fast becoming one of my favourites.

This is the setup I run with, not much (you can't do much!) done but it may help.

(Btw, I've tried the ginetta here, too, and that's an interesting drive...mostly bouncing off the limiter, hehe.  The ginetta is a very nice tame car)

Ok I've installed the car-buyer (or car-renter) program;
http://ac.ysumail.com/

I've simply fired it up with the old database, so it's full of GTL stats as per my last DB backup. :)

There are probably a few things not working as the environment is a bit different, nothing that can't be ironed out I'm sure.

In any case, feel free to play with it, I'll give you guys admin access - to any of you who want to have a look into how it's set up. PM me.
(I'll post the admin login into the forum's admin area to save some hassles)

In fact there's some work to do, not just design (altho if anyone wants to...).
My time is limited, so if anyone wants to play with the design later, html/css and minimal php knowledge will be needed.

The content needs updating of course and the DB will need to be set up properly, if we want to use it.

For now, feel free to play around, I can re-set the DB anytime.

Oh, the result parser will need a bit of loving, but I'm sure Wally knows the result file format enough so it won't cause us much headache.
