Fun Run Dec 6 - Multiclass Racing
« on: November 30, 2016, 08:19:40 PM »
Let's try multiclass racing.
2 x 15 laps at Silverstone 1967, using the OSRW PIT MOD for 36 pit boxes.

Cars - Class 1
Mercedes-Benz C9 1989 LM
Porsche 962 C Long Tail
Porsche 911 GT1-98
Porsche 962 C Short Tail

Cars - Class 2
Alfa Romeo 155 TI V6
Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II
BMW M3 E30 Gr.A 92

Class 1 cars will have to do 1 compulsory pit stop where tyres must be changed (no pit window). Class 2 cars don't have to pit. This is to mix up the track position of cars in both classes.
Class 2 cars will be lapped about 3 times.

I want to have pretty much an even number of drivers in each class (as tempting as the class 1 cars are!). You'll get a chance to drive the other class in race 2.

I did try a few of the cars in the server and the c9 with boost is clearly fastest and even with 100% damage it can do 8 laps here at full boost which is a few seconds a lap faster then the other cars. I tried to force a fixed setup in it with just boost locked at 60 but couldnt manage to get it to work. I did load a setup that only had the boost level in the ini so will try a few other methods as at 60% boost its pretty close to the other cars.

Edit I tried again and managed to fix everything but the boost level which seems this cant be fixed for some reason. It would be a great way to balance out cars with boost levels if one is a bit too quick but that's not possible.

That's exactly what I thought, used a fixed setup with only the boost locked.
Piss off it doesn't work. >:(

I might take the C9 out then and replace it with another car, maybe the short tail.  I thought the C9 would be too fast.

I thought maybe it was this one http://www.virtualr.net/550hp-hillclimb-racer-assetto-corsa-available-now
Seeing as the stock car was already in the server and in the first post.

Should be silverstone67, I had the OSRW up earlier but as it doesnt work in acserver manager after reloading the server it ended up the first track in the list which was a horrible version of Albert park that I really should delete from my install. Is the server on the wrong track again as it was on the proper one last night.

I can't remember when I joined, but it was Albert Park.
(I thought maybe you found issues with the OSRW track) ;)

OSRW track seemed fine except it needs the manual edit to get it in the server cfg. For the practice server I just kept the regular 20 grid version to get people in as not many outside of here will have the osrw version.

I did some laps in all the cars to see how they stack up and make some setups for each, I ran all on RSR and here are the times for all cars.

Ive added all setups used for these laps to this post. They are RSR qualy setups so I have no idea what track conditions Wally is planning for tomorrow and all are running softs with about 4 or 5 laps of fuel.

The DTM cars are closer then the GT and prototypes but people can choose one they are comfortable in and or pick one for a little more challenge.  ;)

The DTM setups are all fairly stable but the GT1 and LMP's are running minimal rear aero so people may want to add a bit more if they are struggling. Also for a longer race maybe softs arent the best option but those setups can be used for some as a base if they are lost in them.

The top class cars main difference are the top speeds, the Longtail got to 310kmh, short tail at 300kmh and 911gt1 286kmh

The DTM cars are a bit closer in speed with the Merc at 246kmh, BMW 247 and the heavier but AWD Alfa at 244kmh
