One strange thing I've noticed is that when I race against the AI, with my same setup, I'm about 1.5 to 2 seconds off my PB pace, even when I'm on clear track all by myself. It's as if I just can't go as fast in race mode as I can in hotlap mode, with the same setup. I wonder of there's something slightly different in hotlap mode?
I don't think there's tyre wear in hotlap mode, maybe this makes a difference. That would explain it.

There is but I think you can turn it off.
I did a bunch of laps on the softs in hotlap mode and was not getting anywhere near the grip of when i started the stint.
Ok guys, being a newb I have a newb question about damage.
I know it's not implemented yet and I'm looking forward to it. I really hope there is a awesome damage model with heaps of soft damage. Just adds to the realism.
I want to know if the damage model will be 'real'? Like you tap a wall even slightly your race is over. Just like the real thing.
Like a lot of the 1st corner crashes would really take half the field out.
I expect the damage model to show no mercy.
How does it work in other SIMs?

You can usually specify a damage percentage, so 0% is all damage off, 100% damage is race wrecking, 50% reduces the effects of damage etc. I have no idea how AC will do it though. I'm looking forward to damage too, especially mechanical damage if you abuse the gearbox or engine, for example, to force you to drive more realistically. The downside of damage though is that you can get punted into a wall by someone else and lose a wheel, for example, race over, just like the real thing. But who wants to import the painful parts of real life into a game? It adds to realism, sure, but you have to balance it with the fun factor.

Looks like there was a full grid tonite. How will the reserving work if there is not a full field on the night? If someone posts in the forums that they can't make the next round for whatever reason, then I will add the reserves in their place.
Well, seems like fuel was our major Achilles Heel tonight. Maybe next season we can race solar cars Wally???
Was a good round. Well done to everyone, but especially Darren, YSU, Glen and TKO Racing. YSU was very kind in pushing me over the line when I ran out of fuel and sacrificed a few positions to help the walking wounded! :D
Look forward to the next round.
When I saw Guybrush sitting there like a dead duck I was really torn between an evil laugh while driving by, and helping, but helping won out in the end somehow... could be the stupid mistake that'll cost me later :)
The second race I was keeping it on track a lot better than the 1st race. I had a couple of small slides but no 180's. I think it was Darren who lapped me on about lap 7. Bastard! lol I retired to the pits then to stay out of the way and sulk in my helmet..
would be nice to have a spectator mode in those cases.

Sorry Dick that likely wasnt Darren but me as I started about 1 minute late and caught the first few cars around lap 7. Darren was crazy fast though but even still no need to retire even if getting lapped. Simply make it clear which side your taking and stay there to let the leaders through generally outside line down a straight and slow maybe a bit sooner showing your giving room is appreciated by those lapping.
I think my computer troubles were just my PSU starting to give up the ghost and at high loads it couldnt maintain the power needed for my setup. It has been making some odd noises and this may also have been causing some of the audio issues from my mic possibly.
I hope to sort these out during the week but Im getting some good practice at reverse grid racing, can be quite fun especially if others dont drive overly defensive then trying to fight the way through the pack. I didnt see anyone driving too defensively and all were fair once a clean move was made.
In race one my progress stopped once I reached the top 10 and for one lap at least the guys infront cant remember who, were side by side most of the lap which was pretty cool to see and no contact I think. Thats when me and cramjet had a good battle for a couple laps too as we both tried to get past the guys infront.
Look forward to the rest of the season and hope achilles heel can get some points of the teams ahead atm, will be quite interesting with the varied cars and especially the next round. Maybe we need to give Darren the regular e30 for the rest of the season hed still f8nd a way to win lol.
My pc does not like the online races with 20 ppl,and last night proved that,,,stuttering ,poor frame rates and the occasional artefact did not help a nice visual experience,,
....
I notice with the replay I can get up peoples pedals and gear selections etc. I didn't watch it for too long but noticed it was a bit jerky (no not you guys in the cars) so not sure if I will be able to get any genuine learning from it or just annoyed at the frame rates in the replay.
Consistency is King, something I've lost in the nK-AC switch. :(Yeah, interesting isn't it. When I look at my Silverstone practice lap times, they're all over the place. I wonder if that shows more complexity to AC, with a more dynamic tire model.
The tyre model is certainly more dynamic and sophisticated than nKPro.Fixed!
And Wally, I don't know if the race server is the same but the practice server still has Flattop in my skin (eeewwww :o ).
He has his own now. :P
Its pretty much finished, for now. Got that bee out of my bonnet ;)what happened to "got the beer out my fridge " ?
I'd already had a few wines and watched a movie before finishing off the graph stuff :)Its pretty much finished, for now. Got that bee out of my bonnet ;)what happened to "got the beer out my fridge " ?
And more... now includes the "gap to leader", "gap to previous car" and "gap to next car" stats for each lap.
http://xgnassettocorsa.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/season-1-round-1-bmw-me-e30-at-imola.html
After each race, there are some stats:
HUNTER is the guy who was closest to someone's rear bumper over the whole race.
HUNTED is the guy who had someone closest to their rear bumper over the whole race.
BUSIEST is the guy who had cars closest front and back over the whole race.
LONELIEST is the opposite of BUSIEST. The guy who was furthest from other cars.
There are also race charts which show each racer's relative position to the leader, lap by lap. You can click on the graphs to expand them. The green squares are each racer's fastest lap.
