Could anyone with the time, inclination and patience please confirm that the FPS loss is being caused by LIGHTING FX in CSP.

My results: SuperKart at Silverstone 67 with 16 AI

LIGHTING FX on = <20 fps

LIGHTING FX off = >60 fps

I've been all over the car and can't seem to find anything. It only happens with some tracks, all alone is fine but each AI added reduces the frame rate.

The underlined is the killer, 'why is it so'.     <<<this'll sort out the youngsters.

That's not the Silverstone we were talking about, but 67 conflicted with the car, or rather the other way around, and caused a massive frame loss.
Yet to figure out why.

Compare the telemetry and you can see it's mostly apex speed.

Of course there is a lot of overlap but I'm mostly braking in a straight line, turning in and getting back on the throttle at the same time. That technique is probably still leaving a lot o time on the table so I'm expecting some much quicker laps in the future.

Server wouldn't allow any gears to be selected. Took the liberty of restarting it and all seems fine now.

The FF Van Diemen requires CSP.

There is a workaround/fix but to be blunt that would take me more effort than having the few luddites update their own installs.

:o  Sorry about that. Server should be conflict free now.

Can't remember if I changed anything in the car, but best to redownload.   :)

'Race Essentials' gives you fuel use per lap and how many laps you are short.

On 'Race Essentials" if you have the time to have a look Wally, the App always appears on all desktops even when only selected for one. It does remember its position per desktop, but as I only use it on one, the others have it tucked away in the far corner.

Brands Hatch, open server, please forgive any randoms, and put on a good show for potential recruits.

For those who didn't already know, when using AC offline saving your best setup as ai_default would result in the AI using that setup for any future races on that track.

What I have discovered is that the Final Ratio is not loaded from that setup, however in Vanilla AC the AI are able to change this whilst running in a practice session.  :o

With CSP that seems to be broken and the AI is stuck with the default ratio which is often far from ideal, especially with only one gear such as in my Kart.  >:(

Further to my woes the AI can only change the final ratio if it hits the rev limiter and activates it.

I tend to have a lot of overrun available with simulated points/valve bounce to stop the engine grenading.

Most of my cars come from a time before rev limiters were anything more than the above.

In the Kart, where I discovered this, the limiter was at 14000 but at 666 Hz so in fact it was never activated long enough to cut the engine at all.

14000 was there so you could judge from calculated top speed what gear to use for a particular track. The over run was for a track with a slightly longer straight but enough twisty bits that gearing for the straight left you bogged down on the rest of the track, also allowed a bit of slipstreaming, as though the power dropped pretty sharply from 14000 the tow would allow you to pull the extra revs.
Damage was set to 14600, as free revving, you could get there but the motor was making naff all power.
