Nov 19 fun run - Radical SR3 @ Donington
« on: November 13, 2019, 07:39:13 AM »
This is the first of 2 poll choices for season 31 - the Radical SR3 (link).
Track: Donington Park 2018 - National (link).

We'll do three 17 lap sprints. Optimal tyre pressure is 28 PSI.

Quote
The SR3 is the next step up from the SR1 offering thrilling, cost-effective, high-performance track driving and racing.
First launched in 2001, it is the most widely produced and most successful prototype style sportscar racer in the world, with over 1,100 sold. This bears testament to its proven track record and stunning value verses performance and is surely the reason why the SR3 has been selected by the Race of Champions for the champions of F1TM and other major race series to race, achieving the fastest racing lap at the last 2 Race of Champion Events.
The Generation 4 engine offers improved reliability, better drivability and more power.
This is based on the 1340cc engine option.

I see you've done some laps. Check out this thread later for a review of the racing.

Hi Wally,

David here, I raced with you in Season 19 ( a friend of Killa's ) and wondered if I could join you tonight for a Fun Run in the Radical's ? If so, is there anything I need to do ?

Kind regards,

DC.

Not yet just for this fun run. It'll just be random skins on the server.

Here's some quick race results for race 1.
I didn't really enjoy the cars - they were too edgy, too easy to lock up the brakes, to understeery (although that might be possible to dial out with setup changes), and the racing wasn't all that close. Or maybe I just suck at those cars, or maybe all of the above.

You weren't wrong Wally, plenty wrong with the car.
I could list the problems but I fear I would only add to my disreputation that way.

In practice I dialed the brake pressure down to 90% which helped a lot with locking up.

I could say that my Hayabusa's power curve in no way resembled the curve this car has.

I thought I was slow but my pace wasn't too bad just hard to catch up. Got knocked off track to last place both races and after a 17 lap hotlap session the first race I didn't really feel like doing it again

Sorry I bailed last night guys, off the pace, solo hotlapping and back spasms didn't add up to a very enjoyable night.

Found the same Wally. And it felt a bit unrealistic stable over curbs as well?
