It's worth it just to look around the interiors of all the cars. The detail is unbelievable.

I'd love to be able to test-drive one, too.  Btw the ARSE guys are preparing for a group buy - maybe we can work together and put some buying power forward...

Is this for the DK2 or V1 Bird?  I'd certainly be in for V1, but will hold off on DK2 for now as I want my first VR experience to be as good as it can be.

Not sure - it's just been mentioned over there.  I'd say probably whatever is up nowadays.  How far off the V1 is?
And by the by, what's the current street price?  I'm totally out of the loop, lol.

p.s I'll move these posts into the rift thread if I can find it.

geez, this isn't as straightforwards as you might thing...you need to split the topic first, then merge the splinter topic with the other.

I think v1 is probably at least a year off.  Rumour is that it will likely cost around $400.

The price isn't too bad - it's less what I've paid for each of the 3 monitors here :)

I do wanna try them before I buy. Try for an hour or so. But VR is the way of the future for sure.
I think I'll be waiting for a more consumer friendly version down the track. Hopefully it's only a year or so. Oh and if stinkbook account is a requirement for some stupid reason, I won't be buying it at all. I'll wait for a competitor.

It is worth the money right now even though you can only use it as an experimental device. The DK2 costs $460 delivered in Australia.

If the CV1 gets delivered in 12 months (I reckon it will take longer) then even if you upgrade immediately to that version you have had 12 months of use of a truly innovative device. It is not ready for full-time use so it definitely needs to be viewed as a "toy". Unlike your sim rig which is definitely not a "toy" :))

So, at the moment, it is a purely indulgent purchase. If you can afford it then it is well worth the price for the experience. Just don't justify it in terms of not needing triples, or upgraded graphics card etc. You will still need to keep those.
