Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Team mate wanted

Team Maki Engineering is please to announce that Freezer is joining the team. We welcome him into the team and hope his promise of Guybrush beating performance will come to fruition.

As team we target beating DA Racing for the season whether by speed, consistency or crashes  ;)
Mael, do you want to run with the skin I posted (matching cars), or do you have your own?

Team Maki Engineering is still on the lookout for a driver. The only requisite is the ability drive in the general direction of the track and maybe crash into Wally every now and then  ;D
Hey Mael, we are usually racing in a similar part of the track (speed wise) so I don't mind teaming up..

Well i better keep Rob company
Put me down please Wally
Good to see you return Viper... :)

Haven't tried this yet, but I've been waiting for it for a while. Looks like it should be a lot of fun, could be a good one for Thursday nights...

Ha, I owned one of them in my younger days aka the Holden Gemini, and it was mint to!

Average night for me.  The 370z felt like a soggy sponge and I was just doing my best to keep it together.  Had a few tangles in race one and two which didn't help.  Race 3 I decided to flip my suspension settings in the opposite direction, had nothing to lose really!  Surprise surprise the car was better but I was starting from way down the back.  Got very lucky at the chicane at one point grabbing 4 spots in one go as people slid around but ultimately those speedy rx7's kept blowing me off down the straight.
Worst night for me but overall a good season.  Thanks once again to Wally, looking forward to the next one.

International Endurance Racing Modding Group has released the first car pack of their 2014 Tudor Sports Car Championship mod for Assetto Corsa

Only two cars so far but they are impressive and sound better than most AC cars. (that is if you like the sound of a bellowing V8 )

R1: Starting from 12th, I was up to 7th by the end of the first lap then on 5th.  Held Jeremy off for a few laps before he did a 'ricciardo' and bumped his way through on the inside.  After a lot of pressure Matthew got through and Phil went with him and I snuck home 8th.
R2: Another cracking 1st lap jumping from 12th to 5th, then 4th on the next lap.  I now had Bacculum pressuring from behind.  The critical part of the track for me in the 370 was getting on the the back straight clean and quick.  But I didn't do that on lap 3 and he was past.
Grat then caught and past but as he got to Bacculum there was some action which allowed me to get back past Bacculum and hold that spot to the end for 4th.
R3: Started from 4th and by lap 2 had Jeremy aka 'ricciardo' breathing down my neck.  We had a number of laps side by side with lots of action but then him and Bacculum hit and he ran off.  With Matthew now on my tail I just focused on hitting my marks but after a few laps a slight wide saw him and Bacculum through.  I now had GB in a GTR behind me.  Sure I could have held him off . . !  But I didn't need the pressure :)  So after at least 200m he was through!  I was now in a RX7 sandwich with no less than 5 of them around me.  Unfortunately Hylas tagged me at the end of the back straight which saw three of them get through.  Held on to 9th to the end.

Overall a good nights racing.

Would be fun to try.
Installed it last night and had a quick run at Misano and it felt/sounded pretty good.  Just 3 cars at the moment (two types).

Looking at Race 3 results the contacts seem a bit screwed up, on the last lap I supposedly never hit Jeremy but he and Guybrush did hit eachother.

On both those last chicane incidents I did turn in tighter when I saw the door closing ahead and both times got the left wheels on the sausage curb at which point it was gone so sorry. Guybrush actually left more room then Jeremy did when I hit him, I dont know if I kept it off the sausage curb I could have pulled up in time to avoid both collisions but was just silly errors on my part.

Here is a video I made from race 3, which is probably my worst performance so far lol but I guess best to put it up and show what happened.  :-[

Key points in the video,

First half of the race failing to pass Jeremy

7:15 Matthew passed both me and Jeremy after I hit him in the straight, maybe a bit of a late Max type defensive move but there was still enough room to go right and stay on track so I wasnt exactly squeezed. As Jeremy ran deep into next corner after the contact I didnt want to take advantage of the contact and stayed behind. This let Matthew pass us both.

10:00 Guybrush assisted me past Jeremy.  ;D

10:30 hit Guybrush as a nice thanks to my team mate.  :'(

19:30 contact with Jeremy at the last chicane on the last lap. I was a long way back and not really trying a move on Jeremy, seeing he was mid track he also needed to brake harder for apex which made him slow more then I expected. I was trying to hold inside line tight with Guybrush outside, the door was closed pretty hard and no room so I went left onto the curb then jumped into Jeremy to repeat the move on Guybrush.
Good racing. It's good to watch your driving style, Marty. When you get on the throttle, you really get on the throttle, following that old rule "Don't get on the throttle until you can stay on it", and then there's a lot of steering correction on the way out. I'm sure that I do that correction by easing up on the throttle instead of with the streering.
Might be why Marty is often talking about graining and blisters.  I on the other hand try to minimise slip and be smooth and I don't see any real tyre drop off . . . but I'm not as fast either :)

In my opinion Freezer's races should be presented at the university of how to do defensive driving! Spend so much time in the packs behind him.

No need to convince me. :D Seems I spent a whole lot of time chasing his bumper... ;D
Yes, Freezer is leading in the season "Hunted"  tally.
Well I may not be the fastest here but I reckon my race craft is going okay! :) :)  However no amount of race craft was going to compensate for a boot load of ballast in race 2.
Good overall nights racing.  To much to recount but I had some close battles with the usual suspects ( you know who you are ).  Once again it was about using the 370's corner speed to offset the loss in the straights.  I did cop a couple of taps and one spin but also had many door handle to door handle battles which was great.  Definitely enjoying the challenge....!

I did have a good nights racing but I think the closely packed grid contributed also as from launch we were all nose to tail....
