Title: Dirt Rally
Post by: Wally on April 30, 2015, 07:46:58 AM
Is anyone going to try this? It sounds vaguely promising, and the graphics look great. I haven't raced a rally sim since RBR. I might give it a look.

That's a good rally sim.  I haven't used one since ORA ran an historical series with the minis and escorts etc.
Off to look at this...

Oh yeahhhhhhh!
" ranging from "1960s classics" to modern vehicles"
I want to go back home NOW!
My birthday present.
It is early,  the horn button remains stationary,  but who cares, is a MINI!

"Online league support is also included for Dirt Rally; players can join up to six leagues. "

Oooh that looks good. I loved Dirt 2 and 3, then read Dirt Showdown was rubbish so didn't get it.

I've been reading that this one is a little more sim-like, but not perfect.

I read good things about it, seems promising, but I'll wait until it's released.  I'm very cautious about anything pre-release nowadays.

Downloaded it tonight and had a quick run in a few cars.  Bearing in mind its a work in progress, I think it pretty good already.  Graphically very impressive and certainly a challenge to drive.  The older class cars at this stage seem the best and most fun.  Definitely worth getting for $50AUD if you want a change of pace.

I'm with you on this I have had some rings in the mini and it is tough but fun.

Yeah downloaded and played a bit yesterday, it's fun but definitely a work in progress...

Hope they release H shift option for real manuals - paddles on the Mini was a bit weird

Also navigating menu's when on G27 was tough... I don't know what button 19 is to go back... Kind of silly to have that printed out to reference navigating menu in between stages...

Still overall a thumbs up for where its at and hopefully where it will end up... loved how trashed my Mini looked after my first stage...  ;D

I do recommend it to, despite of the physics flaws it's great fun.
You can always trial it on Steam ;)

the few times I have played it, the ffb is crap, whether I use the setup file from one of the experts, just gave up.

Phil, last I heard they are rewriting some of the controller code, maybe you're in luck - but of you bought it on steam you can get a refund up to 14 days past release.  It's pre-release right now, so there's no hurry.

Bruce, it's interesting, I did not find the FFB to be that bad.  The physics is a kinda unbelievable at points, the but FFB was ok.  Altho I haven't touched it in a month or so, maybe it has changed?

I could not, (or didn't spend enough time get it right), but it was always 'light as a feather' with no feel.
maybe I stuffed up the profile part, but the suggested mod file did very little,
When I get time will have another bash at it.

Well, for what it's worth the mod I've tried did little for me, too. However, it had ample feel by default on my Fanatec Gt3 wheel.
