Oct 9: Feldbergring Enduro [DOWNLOAD (https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/feldbergring.21195/)]

This will be a single, 50 minute (plus 1 lap) race. You will probably have to pit for fuel and/or tyres. There are no pit restrictions.

Damage will be 50%.

The track is 11.6 km long, so don't leave it too late to start learning the track!

"The Feldbergring race took place every year in Taunus, Germany, from 1920-1928, from 1934-1936, and lastly from 1950-1954. I have made the last version they raced on. The circuit was 11.6km long and held on public roads, with a height differential of 280m. It was used for the German Motorcycle Championship, as well as single-seater sports cars.

For 1955, the authorities demanded that a bypass was built around the village of Oberreifenberg, which was not made. This meant the end for the Feldbergring, and as a result of the terrible accident at the 1955 Le Mans race, many motorsport event throughout Europe were cancelled or suspended in subsequent years.

You missing out Russ. What a great track, a sort of rural short green monster. Even just hot lapping is addictive.

So far I'm the quickest with a 4:27 but there a lots of time to gain so get practicing, it will be required!

It will be a small miracle if I finish this race.  :-X

Fuel is no issue, but I'm expecting to have to pit for tyres at some stage.

What a fun and good looking track. Managed to snap part of my clutch spring off though which is a bit distracting. There is about 1cm of travel with no feel before it hits the spring  :-\

How did you break your clutch spring? Jabbing at the clutch pedal with your foot?

I have no idea... There was a weird sound one time when I pushed the clutch in then the pedal felt loose. I looked and the spring doesn't fit the length of the arm anymore. Either a part broke off or it's warped. I won't have time to fix it tonight before Tuesday's race, but I'll take it off and head to bunnings at the weekend and see if I can get a similar spring.

EDIT: Actually just remembered I took a day of leave tomorrow so maybe I can try and fix it before the race  8)

Yeah the spring is definitely snapped in the middle and I now have zero resistance on the clutch. Will need to fix it before tomorrow as the clutch keeps half engaging...

Can you just adjust the clutch pedal min and max range in the AC controller settings?

I did try and  make a few adjustments but the lack of feel in the pedal led me to....

I'm not sure whether it will be an issue tonight... but I was running some laps last night and it never seemed to register a time on the tracker. I noticed when circulating there were 2 micro sectors that never registered.

I assured I didn't go off track and kept it between the lines, although it still never registered  :o anyone else have this issue?

I hope it won't count as a PLP cut track

My time on the laps page is from a few days ago, none of my better times have appeared!!  But others have in the meantime...

Did some laps the other night and had trouble staying on track  :o but managed a couple of legit laps ( or so I thought) ?
But no times up for me either  :-\

Maybe it's all just an stracker issue. Dunno. But we don't use stracker on the night anyway. I'll keep an eye out for any screwy results.

Good fun while it lasted, made a few small mistakes running a bit wide on the exit of some corners, minor damage, didn't slow me. Then did another, brushed a fence on exit and it dragged me through it, ended up flipping under the map and couldn't get back to pits...all over

Some good close racing for the first half of the race chasing Freezer and Killa with Keith close behind. At nearly the half way point Freezer had a wobble coming out of the final turn allowing me and Keith by, but it did seem like the tyres were going a little and I went wide into the wall on that tight right downhill turn allowing Kieth by.

With Killa, Kieth and Freezer all so close I thought I'd pit and hopefully get some clear space. I was in 3rd and pitted and came out in 5th. I kept watching the delta to the 4 in front wondering when they'd pit and to see where I'd be when they did.. that never happened as they never pitted so the last half of the race was just hot lapping. I just assumed based on the tyres going off on the sprint races we'd need to pit, but I guess they just degraded to a point where they were still manageable  :o

That's a bummer  :(

My race was good. I think race nerves/adrenalin made me back off a fraction so that I largely kept the car off the barriers. The only times I hit anything were on the 2 outlaps on cold tyres, hitting the straw bales at the hairpin. I had a little bit of close racing with Mac and Rob, but for the most part, I was glad to be alone and just put in consistent lap times. Near the end, I was watching the (closing) gap back to Mael to make sure he didn't ambush me, but he pitted very late in the race, which took the pressure off. Overall, very happy with my race.

Great nights racing for me.  Qualified 2nd behind Killa.
Got away cleanly and was a bit surprised to be able to hang on to Killa given he had a pretty fast qualy time.  But hang on I did for the first half of
the race or so.  Fluctuating between 0.3 and 1.5 sec gap it was a pretty tight battle with me hoping he would make a mistake!
Following close behind was Joe and Keith but after a powerslide out of the final hairpin they slipped by.   Joe then pitted for tyres so I slipped back up to 3rd.
The run to the flag was a close battle with AB.  Killa and Keith were now to far ahead.  Ended up 3rd which was a great result.
As for tyres, not sure how many pitted but I decided to hang out and see.  Tyres dropped to 98 fairly early but didn't get lower, I actually grabbed fastest race lap on
the final lap!!
P.s. Great track Wally, not sure where you found this one !!

Would never have thought I can do so many laps without properly wrecking the car.
I've made quite a few changes to the setup of my new wheel base just recently and based on the result of my last two qualies it seems it's paying off. I found it strange that the change a few month ago has made me less competitive for the last couple of seasons. Hopefully that's not just a one off thing.
I was trying to crack Kcender's time on the practise server, was well in the 4:08, but screwed it in the last hairpin...going through there in 2nd gear is not a good idea.
Was probably a bit nervous there at the front, but managed to keep Freezer and Keith behind me. Keith, that thing was close...was lucky...would have been a pity if that had ended my/our race. I didn't see an opportunity for you there. Well, we both got away with it...
The strategy without pitting worked well. Was pure luck as I never have managed to do more than 4 consecutive laps.

Freezer, I just looked at the newest tracks on RD, as I do from time to time.

Well done Killa. Great driving to keep your nerve and lead the race the whole way.

Hey Wally. Nothing against Freezer of course but just wondering how the scoring works when he missed last round. was surprised the points were still so close with a missed round so looked back and he picked up 37 points at imola without being there?

edit: actually looks like it's the drop round thing?

Yep I figured that out afterwards. I usually don't pay much attention to the points as I'm way down. Got lucky this season so far.

Race 1 of the season surprised me and I really didn't expect to still be on top after round 2 let alone round 4. No Matthew, Jeremy or Grat has helped, and Phil and Kcender blowing up parts of their car or crashing.

I reckon I did nearly 50 laps and I didn't do one clean timed lap in practice, qual, or race.

I had an awful race, on a really good track.

The End.

wow that was fun! Like a lot of people I could barely put together two laps in a row without crashing, however i did learn that the old beetle could take quite a beating and not lose a lot of speed. In the race i ran around at 90% pace and it was a rather lonesome drive as I couldn't catch anyone in front and those behind never got near me. I did have some close laps with Able early on until he ran wide in the town. Overall it was a really quiet night, but a thoroughly enjoyable track. If only i knew how to set up a car.....

Fun race.

Unlike many it seems I was reasonably comfortable coming into the server.  Knew i couldn't get below the 10s but figured I had enough pace and car conservation to get through the race.

Had my fuel numbers and predicted tyre wear sorted. Setup saved... good to go.

Ballsed up qualifying like an amateur,  sorry to make everyone wait another 4 min as I crossed the line without a representative time with fees seconds to go. Managed to at least get near the front.

The race itself was pretty cool.  I can't deny I was cursing buller after he pushed pretty hard in the first few corners of a long race, decided to give it up before the hairpin which w as d both a good and bad option. Good because it meant we had an epic battle for several laps before he had issues, bad because it gave the lead pack a small break.

Closed onto the back of the pack as Keith, freezer and Joe raced hard.  Was cool to see side by side clean racing.

Joe made the mistake of pitting so closed onto freezer for a great series of laps. I think I was technically past him 3 times, cleared him once but had a very small rub on the fence and he was past again.  Great racing as I was way quicker in the first sector, he was quicker in the second and we were about even in the last.  Ultimately meant we raced within a second and a half for the last part of the race.

Bit annoyed to miss the podium but also glad to have had a great race.
