Geelong Revival Sprints 2014
« on: November 13, 2014, 10:43:24 AM »
Well I almost have the old Comet ready for another 'first' for me, The Geelong Sprints

Nice car! and the red ones too  ;D

I have been a spectator for many years and only just realised the event has been resurrected. So if your at the event on the Sunday 30th and you see an odd bloke hanging around the Comet, come and say hello!

Car # 333

Bruce.

Thanks Glen, you almost quoted Denise there!

Just going for the Sunday, I had entered the caravan in the Vintage display but I think I will be busy enough without doing that.
I just need to re-check the valve clearance and it is ready to go!

I would come if it were closer, but know I am further away. Good news for other tracks is I am 1 hour from Haunted hills, 56 min from P.I. and 1 hour from Sandown.

Fairly central so when you attend any of those I will be there.

You are central to few of the good tracks and that would be great if you can get along.
I was going to put the Holden in the Historic Hill Climb next weekend at Rob Roy, but more important events, a grandchild's 1st Birthday.

But I will be entering the Holden in the next Alfa Club Sandown sprint next year if the planets aligh.... plenty of time to do some more tweaking on it.

I might have to enter as well, although P.I. is much more appealing for me at the moment.

The quality isn't super, but I like the commentary  "... then down the street to get the shopping..." and especially "here's grandpa..."  :-*

Thanks to my daughter on this video, I will be spamming you more when I get my mate's and my son-in-laws vids :)

Thanks to Marty "McMeek" for the pics, Marty was a past P&G man and live in Geelong and he and I finally moved out of the virtual world..
He has a wealth of photos from taken of his father and by his father of many greats and tracks and cars and bikes from the late 50s to the late 60s in Germany and environs.

Lining up for the last run..

GO GO GO!

Made it home, loaded up and a blown head gasket... BUT WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great day.

Thanks Bird and Glen...

The head gasket means I my just have to change somethings... like a later more efficient inlet manifold :)  I am sure it will fit in my wife's suitcase next year in the U.S.

Well if Flatty gets his comet into the 14's I may have to take out my over sized subwoofer and 3000 watt amp out of the boot to beat him. Don't make me resize my exhaust tip either, I'm already down to the size of a milo tin.

15's is an honest car I reckon, well done Bruce  ;D

Thanks roo and Glen, yep sub 16 is REALLY REALLY KOOL!
I spent a lot of time tuning, but other than that the car is as it was when it started running at Freemont drag strip in 1975! Have to keep honest to the ordinal owner.
I has a 3.0:1 equi-locker.  So everything goes to the ground, no wastage.  Lifting the rear ratio would make a difference,  but I also want to drive to events ‘peacefully’ :)
The only thing I may do, is move the shift points up a little?
Looking forward to getting other pics/videos from others.   I have bought an action camera, so the next event I hope to have  some footage.
