Personal testing for Season 3 at Silverstone International
« on: August 21, 2014, 02:47:24 PM »
Hi gents,

So I can start to get a feel for lap times in the mix of Lotuses for season 3, I have set up the XGN FUN server with a set entry list that has assigned you a car based on your overall ranking for seasons 1 and 2 combined (as shown in the stats that I link every round). Note that this car assignment was done in order of how well you do in a race, not how fast you are (which are not always the same thing).

Track: Silverstone International
Server: AUS www .xgn.com.au TRIAL SERVER

Please do some laps there, in the car you assigned when you join the server, using the DEFAULT SETUP, and reply to this post with your PB, if and when you're willing and able. We'll have some trial sprints here after season 2.

Here's the entry list:

1:41.27 for me running default set just dropped fuel a bit. Handles like a pig but tyre wear not a huge issue as it dropped to 98 and stayed there for 10 laps was about .5 to 1 second slower at 98%.

Is the server set at a very low refresh rate by any chance as I was following glen around and we both had very good pings under 34 but his car was moving around very oddly, I couldnt see any rotation in the car much like in the earliest netcode with high pings.

Not sure about your track choice Wally??
Huge performance issues.
tried about 3-4 laps. I'm over it lol.
3 minutes something for a lap time.

Say no more, straight to a F1 for Dick.

Really? Was fine on my PC. Pity, because it's a good track. Do you reckon I need to change to one of the AC tracks, say Vallelunga?

Marty, the trial server is set up same as the little servers always are.

I actually didn't mind both the Z4's around here, drifting a little bit through the corners. In the standard Z4, I did 1:41.3.

Marty I just saw your 1:39.312 on the server - updated.

Yea not the best track choice as Dick must have been running real poorly CPU wise not just driving, He had a 70 ping and me 34 and I kept seeing him warp ahead and back.

I tried the z4 s1 also as I think the standard is a complete POS which you should try Wally. Did 1:39.312 in the s1 but I think it may be better to do this test on an official track that everyone knows

I had no issues with the track and ran fine just saw odd things with Glens car not rotating then Dicks car warping all over the place and my pings were fine. Its a track I like so a bit of a shame too but I take it that this is not an official conversion by Virtua LM the guys that made it so it could be improved quite a bit performance wise.

The cars are fun and the standard is fun to drive or should I say slide around

What, you could choose the Z4 S1 on the server, Marty? I thought if I assigned you the standard Z4, that's all you could drive, even though the other cars are available.

Yeah I rage quit because I don't know the track, and hardly know the car, Was a fair bit of warping. constant CPU warning. (all settings at minimum) lost frames here and there.

I figure a track we know, a track that will be in the series might be better for the experiment?
Vallelunga? well that track scares me but I know it better than the one now.

PS The Thurs night server isn't working?

No seems all cars are selectable there didnt seem to be one assigned to me. In the lobby it said to select car so I first tried the standard then the s1. I even jumped into a lotus to see if the performance issues could be due to more cars then grid spots but the last elise in the list loaded in pit fine.

OK, because of performance problems with Mid Ohio, I have changed the track to Vallelunga.
I assumed because it was a RaceDepartment download, it was an authorised conversion. I thought those guys are pretty strict. The original author is credited, but I don't know if they have permission.

I to had a constant 95% cpu warning, only ever seen it once briefly in 95 hours of AC.

Oh, that's not how I thought it worked then. You do have a particular model assigned to you in the entry list (the standard Z4).

That's no good... back to an AC track then.
