Let's give this Supercars mod a try, as a candidate for the next season: http://v8scorsa.weebly.com/
3 x 8 lap sprints at Barcelona Moto. I know it's not an Aussie track, but it's one less thing to download.
I have packaged up the mod, Nissan hotfix and liveries into one download here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nqb8tyZX2lFMorN4GgnJAuY6UJ0WeFXE

Well the V8's sound right aleast.
-
Guys, looking for some help
I've loaded the cars as per the instructions, they are available to use, but when I either start a session or join the server, AC loads track, then goes back to previous screen upon trying to load either the first or second car.
What am I missing?
Cheers in advance
-
Could be a checksum error. Did you download the cars from the original website? The Nissan had a hot fix to apply.
-
Actually, the Nissan is the only one I can practice with
-
I just checked the server logs. All it says is "wsarecv: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.".
I can see some people are getting checksum errors on cars, some people are not. I don't know if some people are downloading from the original site, or downloading my pack. They should be the same. I'll have to take a look over the weekend some time.

Can you use them offline?
-
I downloaded from the web site and added the Nissan patch.
Jumped in with each of the cars and they all worked!

I just checked all the data files, and they're all the same. server = web site = download pack. The error "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" normally means you're trying to use more cars than the track supports, but that's not the case, and Greg is the only one getting that error. I restarted the server - see if that makes any difference.
-
The cars are fun to drive, not so easy. The rear spool axle makes the cars prone to snap oversteer, but you can control them nicely with the throttle. Should be challenging fun.

Call me keen, but I have almost finished my skin. Homage to the Skaife Golden Child of 2001/02 era....

Looks great.
-
Wally, do you have the tyre pressure engineer data for the cars?
Also Greggy's issue is probably the OSRW mod. Not sure what the latest version of the mod is and what's on the server.
-
26 PSI is what you're after.
I checked that the OSRW mod isn't on the server. Maybe Greggy has the OSRW mod on his PC?

I'm getting checksum also Wally, I have the OSRW mod in the ks Barcelona Tk so is this the problem?
Cheers Dave O.

Maybe. Although I have the mod too, and I don't get any errors, and the mod is not on the server. Where did you download the supercars mod from? You didn't have an old version of the mod, did you?
-
Thanks Wally, I'll download again and see how that goes, as I have had it for a while now and I might be missing something ??? ::)
Cheers :)
-
Downloaded again from your link Wally and all good now. ;) Thanks. Dave O.

Tried a few of the cars last night. The Ford seemed to want to kill me as soon as I touched the throttle. The Nissan tried to kill me every time I touched the brakes. The Holden I tried seemed less like it wanted to kill me but still tried a few times so I'll stick with that.

Poor Kcender87, 1.6 seconds faster than the next closest guy. Do you volunteer for some parity ballast, or are you happy racing by yourself?

Aliens have to take the Nissan with 500kg ballast :P

It has its own ballast in the form of spinning sideways when trying to brake in a straight line...

Are the cars all different or all the same with just different bodies? are the Holdens the same ?

Definitely felt different to me, have to agree with Joe's thoughts in the above posts.

I am glad i checked this out haha, was running the 2.5 version and kept getting checksums fails.
-
Dont know if they are me specific but set for the falcadore (edit: falcadore is the new commy in my mind) and datto below :) - not much change from base really

Challenging cars to drive, but like most challenging cars, it's rewarding and fun if you can get it right. Lots of spins, lots of brake lockups... The cars seem to be quite setup sensitive. If it's a bit wrong, it's a spin-fest, but once you find that sweet spot and can keep the car on the track without spinning, it's good fun. I don't necessarily mind a car that bites - it can mean that the guy in front of you can stuff up at any time and give you a chance.

If there is going to be another fun run before the next season, i'll just throw this out there for your consideration.
My first race on SRS was using a selection of 80's (I think) touring cars at Riverside. I had ever raced there prior and I was smiling like the Joker almost the entire race. The cars available weren't ones that I would normally choose to race in but I had the time of my life sliding around the long sweeping corners. Long straights to draft behind. Close racing guaranteed !

It's something to consider. Do you remember what cars/mods they were? I keep mixing up the style of cars. You can see the past seasons at the bottom of the first post here (http://xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=400.0). We're currently due for something a bit more grunty :)

I enjoyed the racing. It's good to drive something that is a bit more of a challenge to keep on track every now and then.
-
First time back after a pretty long break. I didn't do more than 15 laps practice and rocked up pretty late but I really enjoyed driving these cars, which is a surprise for me because I've generally hated V8 mods (in everything). I had a few spins due to hitting kerbs in the wrong way, and being a little too heavy with my right foot, and once on the left braking, but at no point did I feel like putting it in the sand trap in frustration, and doing donuts till the car broke.
The last race was hilarious. I got off the line like a rocket, headed into turn one in the lead and was so overjoyed that I forgot how to drive, found myself in the wrong gear, went wide into turn two and panic braked into three trying to recover, spun and ended up being where I belong. It was a bit annoying because even though I was a second off a decent pace I reckon it might have been a fun little sprint.
Thanks for a fun night blokes.

Well I hated them*. The constant fight to prevent the front tire lockups is irritating. The under-steer on entry were infuriating. The mid-corner under-steer incensed me. The corner exit over-steer was just plain @%$#@$# And this was on an easy smooth track, imagine on some of the bumpier mods! KCender's advice to lower the rear ride height helped a bit for the last race where a good battle with Davo was fun but overall no, just no.
*Some background: Did a season in them with rooz. Was last in almost every race :(
-
What did everyone do with setup? I lowered the spring rates as far as they would go without having the damping ratios ridiculous high, meaning my dampers where all close to zero also.
Setup ranges lacked fidelity, one click of rear toe went from -0.2x to +0.6x
In the Nissan, I softened the rear springs probably one click, added about 0.5 degrees more negative camber at the rear, upped the wing a little and from memory I think I softened the front ARB a touch. In the end, the car felt pretty balanced to me, but there'd be more work to do, setup-wise. I need to try some of Kcender's tips too.

They were ok to drive until you got to a corner and had to brake or turn the wheel, unless the other Holden feels any better I cant see me having much fun season 30

Phil, the eternal optimist :D
-
Well I liked them! They have to be driven like a supercar . . . brake hard, turn, wait . . wait, then ease on the power. I reduced the rear camber aiming for more power down traction, stiffened the front dampers, took off a small bit of front roll bar. It helped for me but could still find some more turn in!

Sorry for the delay in replying, from memory they were BMW M3 E30 Step 1, Mercedes EVO II and Audi Quattro. But any tail-happy car will do the trick there. More grunt equals more thrills and spills me thinks.

Did anyone try my Falcon setup? ???
