Good conversion for a bit of nostalgic fun... but still needs work to be of league worth quality.

This is the best fictional track going in AC & maybe even in all sims...
Looks great, has a retro 60's feel to it. Unique HL starting position in the garage of one of the houses.
Some fantastic corners which have you holding you're breath each time. The tricky chicane is a pain but adds to the whole experience imho.
I had no real performance issues with using it for online racing.

Polished fun track from madcowie. The last corner is fantastic, drifto central :D
Just wish there was an even longer variant of it.
Did experience a little FPS drop using it online though.

Excellent track. It has some great corners leading onto the straights that need good lines to ensure fast times.
Only thing I found was that the curbs seemed to be very slippery which given their width makes them too enticing.
Also it's quite flat (think Silverstone) but then I suspect the real thing was also.

It's OK but I had a significant FPS drop using it online with 12-15 other racers.
Definitely needs collidable objects as short-cutting the chicanes is a real issue for any league usage until that is fixed.
Also iirc pit boxes are inside the garages.

Mod Cars / Re: Holden HSV GTS mod

Sorry I feel compelled to add my 20c's.
I'm not sure about this HSV GTS mod but you'll find that many of the mods from smallblockhero are rips from other sims, particularly Forza.
They are complied to AC format then placeholder physics & sounds from default AC cars are used to complete a functioning mod.
In my mind it's hardly a true representation but each to their own I guess.

Also keep in mind KS did say they didn't want to see this type of modding & as such you won't see these on the official AC forums.

I havent tried it but this is the case with most underground mods, they are basic rips and placeholder physics or even worse just very poorly physics. Its only the very good dedicated modders that do work close to the standards of official content, many of these people will spend a very long time to get the physics down and so will not also cut corners when it comes to the model and scratch make a nice one of those too. Those that just rip dont seem to care too much and just get things out there as if its a battle to be first or have the most crap released under their names.  ;D

Yep very true marty, the mods where their developers go all out are the ones to watch, support & grab hold of... and there are already some awesome ones out there especially via the official AC forum. ;)
Much like rFactor there are plenty of ordinary mods but if you spend the time & research you can find some hidden gems.

Assetto Corsa / Re: Racer Introductions
« on: November 10, 2014, 02:14:35 PM »
Best do the right thing and give you my intro... after infiltrating XGN for the upcoming ARSE vs XGN AC event.
Some of you will know me as Flinty72 which is what I used in LFS & is also my STEAM / AC Username.
So yes I'm an ARSE & have been since 2007, back when I played LFS in the AAL.

Real name is Wayne Flint, aged 42, married with 2 kids (Boy 10 & Girl 6) & live in Melbourne's glorious South Eastern burbs.
I work for the biggest Telco in AUS (don't hold it against me) as a PM in the Wireless/Mobiles space.

I started Sim racing online late in 2006 with LFS in MNR before the XGN affiliation & also in the AAL before helping create, mod & run the LFSEA events with Sapient (Oz-Bee) for the short time it lasted. I then went back in time to discover GPL but eventually I gave up sim racing in 2008 to pursue competitive road cycling.
But the simracing bug caught me again recently for a few reasons, one was I had some spare PC equipment & thought I really should make the cockpit I had always dreamed of & two I discovered Assetto Corsa & couldn't believe how good it looked & felt.
So from there I built my PVC cockpit (which is still WIP) & also helped start AACL with norbs, Pixelboy & Righty.

Looking forward to racing you guys in the ARSE vs XGN event & maybe I'll jump into one of your sessions in the future, assuming we don't kill each other tomorrow night. ;)

G'day XGN Combatants,
Stupidly you have allowed me to infiltrate the XGN inner sanctum... Now to reek some havoc before the clash tomorrow night.

Glad you approve of our Cobra skin, I felt keeping with the original 60's race theme with minor changes to the already fantastic paints in AC would work well. Yes Dick Forrest I did use a gradient on it. ;)

I think you'll like the retro look of our Fezza skin too, Bails MacKenzie did a fantastic job of it. :D

Now as for your skins, Hello Kitty = WTF!!! Then you try to harden it up with a one finger salute...  :o
But credit where it's due, it's piss funny & worthy for this event.

Big Thanks to norbs & Wally for all the organising & to XGN for use of their server to host the event

So see you on the track tomorrow night when s@#t gets real!!!
