This comment on the article stood out:

”So stuff qualifying. Line them up in reverse championship order. The fastest have to come through the field.”

Now that sounds like an idea we could try.

Racing general / F1 proposes new qualifying format

The new qualifying format, set to be introduced at the season opener in Australia on 20 March, will see the slowest drivers eliminated every 90 seconds after a timed period – rather than at the end of the three sessions – in hope of providing greater unpredictability.

Yes i agree with you Marty infact from lap 3 to 5 i struggled a lot but hey...gave it i try.
Now that we got rid of the ballast i would love to see the x2..x3...x4..x5...x6.. tyres go out of the window for good i think this rule is only detrimental to racing, and highly unrealistic.

Simone we are simulating a 1 hour race in real life in 30 minutes, with the same pit stop and tyre conditions. If you want to make the tyre usage realistic, you have to run 2x wear. Otherwise you're effectively giving the race double the tyre life of what the drivers would face in a 1 hr race. Not increasing the tyre wear is unrealistic.

Jeremy was a bit careless with track re-entry. He had just been bashed around a bit

Interesting way of putting it...

I had to wait for the whole field to rejoin safely---am I the only one applying the redress and safe rejoin rules (see also Ascari L1, R2)?
Many seem to make no attempt to stay off the track after spins / crashes. R1 at Ascari, I think, where Guybrush was taken out the car that had taken him out then cut across the track in front of the following field and proceeded to wipe a few other cars out.

There needs to be some sort of rule to stay off the track until the field passes after you crash.

Yes, that's the expectation. Your track re-entry has to be safe. You can't just barge back onto the track. Watch the track map and be aware of who's coming up.

Gratulin, I only penalise carelessness, and the initial accident that may cause a chain reaction, and I only look at turns 1 and 2. Remember, if you want other incidents looked at with the view of possible penalties, send me a PM stating lap number and cars involved.

Like I said earlier, if cars are crawling along, almost stationary, and there is a rear hit, I don't regard that as a careless mistake compared to a higher speed/late braking rear-ender. It's more of an incident.

Grat, yes, it looked to me while watching the replay that your hit on GB pushed him off line into Phil.

Re rolling starts, good point that in a large field, it can disadvantage those at the rear. But perhaps that's preferable to carnage that affects those at the rear more often than not, maybe even race-wrecking damage. In a rolling start situation, doing 80 on approach to T1 instead of 200, we're much more likely to make it through unscathed. Perhaps the rolling start could only be up to the first chicane i.e. when you're safely through the chicane, you can go.

6831
That's a very good view of the race 1 start. It looks like Grat got into the back of Guybrush initially, resulting in Guybrush going a bit off line and being hit by Phil. I'd like to take a look at ground level too, but it looks like Grat should get a penalty there and Guybrush some points.

Do you start with the static cam and then move the free-look camera up from there?

In race 2, you can see that Jeremy got on the racing line too soon instead of staying on his side of the track, hitting Rolz.

I think in any future Monza races, we'd be best off trying a rolling start, with us single-filing through the initial turn 1 on the rolling lap, nice and spread out.

Edit: I've given a penalty to Grat for race 1. Guybrush's overall standing points don't change, because even with the bonus, this was his worst, dropped round.

In race 1, I was behind Freezer who bogged down badly on the start line. Welcome to the Nissan :) But I kept behind him to T1 without incident, but there fell victim to the slomo domino effect, getting hit from behind and spinning off the track, losing a handful of spots. On lap 2, I was picking a line through the carnage of the Jeremy/Grat incident, when Jeremy clipped my car as he re-entered the track, sending me off again, now in last place. After my pit stop, I was almost catching up to the Bafs/Simone/Christopheraser/Grat pack, but I stupidly spun on T1 after braking too late and touching the kerb, dropping 8 seconds or so. From there, I managed to claw back a few positions, but ended up having a fairly lonely race to come home in 15th.

Race 2 was much better, with some good, very close racing with Jeremy and Bacchulum. I was hounding Jeremy until he ran wide at the last chicane, and from there it was a close battle with Bacchulum for the rest of the race, with us round about 1 second apart. Sorry about the T1 hit Bacchulum. I did shut the door there on you, unintentionally, when I lost sight of you. I should have left more racing room (well, as much as you can at T1).

6834
Wally can you please take a look at T1, R1.  Do I get free points?  :P
I examined it from every angle, but didn't award any penalties, as I explained above. But I didn't see you in much of the T1 action. Let me know if you think I've missed something, and I'll take another look.
T1 R2 for me  :P
Yep, done!

RACE RESULTS
SEASON STANDINGS

Race 1 was just a bit unfortunate in T1, I think. Everyone was bunched up, everyone was really slow, if not stopped, but it just took the tiniest of hits to set of a bit of a bumper-to-bumper chain reaction. AC's exaggerated collision physics didn't help here. I don't think any penalties are warranted here.

Penalty to Grat (-8) for running into the back of Guybrush (+8), which then pushed Guybrush into the path of Phil.

On lap 2, after there was a big pile up at the last fast chicane, Jeremy was a bit careless with track re-entry. He had just been bashed around a bit and was nearly stopped on the side of the track, but rather than be aware of oncoming fast traffic, he deviated back into the racing line to get going again and hit me, sending me back to last. That was careless.

In race 2, Jeremy (-8 pts) didn't keep to his line on T1, moving across to the left, and hit Rolz (+8pts)

Are we able to put the stracker link at the start of each pre-race thread so those of us who are often using different devices that don't have it bookmarked can access it?
What about just a sticky thread?

This thread should do just the link in first post needs to be updated to this link below I added to that sticky thread ages ago.  ;)

General Discussion / Re: email

What do you really mean by "spying"? Just inserting ads? Or full on NSA surveillance?  Ads are automated and harmless, but the NSA and other agencies have their hooks into pretty much any email provider.

But yeah, if you have a domain name, the package will often include an email account.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Season 10 GT3 skins
« on: February 22, 2016, 10:34:38 PM »
Mine isn't a download so shouldn't effect the skin pack, but can I please have the "Audi Sport" skin from in-game.  It's a nice clean silverish/light blue type one.

Thanks.
OK, will do.
