Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: S8R6: Spa pre-race chat« on: September 13, 2015, 09:47:13 AM »
I've got the practice server up with the current Spa forecast for Tuesday. 11° and damp. The server also has tyre wear at 1.2x (fuel 2.4x), which is how it will be if the conditions are as cold as this.
If anybody wants to set their ballast on the server, you can do: /admin <XGN password> /ballast 0 <kg> (or use /client_list to find out which car you are) 7637

With one round to go, I won't be able to catch Rolz in the standings, but I'm vulnerable to Bacchulum and Freezer. I'll have to keep an eye on those guys.

Sure GW jump on on Tuesday. I'm curious if it's just the Caterham mod that gives you these dropouts. What happens if you just jump on any other populated server?

I just gave the FR a bit of a blast. What a ride! It's an awesome mod.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Poll: Season 9« on: September 10, 2015, 06:27:09 PM »Wally I'm pretty sure they withdraw the rule due to safety which required a low downforce setup for one race. I could be wrong though. I know they definitely did it for Spa. I don't know if it's a permanent rule change for the rest of the season. It gives us some idea of the kinds of rules they impose though. We'll see what's what after a trial race using each downforce package. 7645
Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: Poll: Season 9« on: September 10, 2015, 06:23:53 PM »Are we to vote now or are we doing a race in each first? I've never driven either type of car in AC so I have no idea. As with previous polls, you can vote now, and you can always change your vote after trial races, like we did with season 8. Some of the votes changed dramatically after actually driving the cars. 7646

AC already has DRS for cars that support it. You have to bind a specific DRS key to activate and cancel DRS. 7648

Just reading about the real FR series:
Quote With a view to rewarding pure performance, each weekend follows a format that is both simple and fair. Race days begin with a qualifying session followed by a race lasting 44 minutes and one lap, with the second race of the weekend also featuring a pit stop during which at least two tyres must be changed. And a blurb about the real world downforce packages: Quote Until now, FR3.5 teams have been free to set up their cars in whatever way they prefer – high downforce (for venues like Monaco or the Hungaroring), or low (for the likes of Monza). Most of the time, the need for both cornering and straightline speed has led to compromises of somewhere in between the two extremes. For ease of driving and reducing accidents, we could mandate the high downforce package. At the trial race, we'll try all 3 packages. 7649

From our past experiences, fast open wheelers are definitely harder to drive, and harder to have close racing with, requiring faster reactions. But I'm all for promoting diversity, especially as different people may have different skills with different types of cars.
I guess the three downforce packages for the FR are essentially 3 different cars. To make my life easier as admin, and maybe even more strategically interesting, you could choose one of the downforce packages and stick with it for half the season, with the ability to swap packages half way through. |
